DeWalt 18V 125mm XR Brushless Slide Angle Grinder DCG405N-XJ - Skin Only

Dewalt was the only real option for me as I already have the batteries, but so far (2 weeks) so good.Certainly powerful enough though it does drain a 5Ah battery in around 30minutes of heavy use. The soft start and the fast stop are great. Fast stop means that you can put it down almost straight after turning it off.I am using 115mm disks in it, so the 125mm guard is a bit oversize and can get in the way. I will be looking for a 115mm guard for it, or modify the 125mm one.

I've been looking for a DeWalt cordless grinder for a while now after borrowing a DCG412 and using a wire cup brush on it. I was amazed how long the charge lasted and the power and speed it had for removing the rust. These twisted wire cup brushes are a real test for grinders especially the cordless ones. I haven't used my DCG405N yet and although it's 125mm disc size, this didn't bother me as I do have this size of disc's and I'm sure it will cope with a twisted knot wire cup brushes. I will use it with my 18V 5 ah batteries of which I have 2 which is essential so one can be charging whilst the other is in use. The price from Tool Stop was great as it had been further reduced.

This battery grinder is more than up to any job. Wether diy or professional use this is completes any task I’ve thrown at it. I’ve used it mainly at work in an engineering environment and cut through anything from aluminium sheet to 15mm steel beams. When paired with a dewalt 5amp battery it has enough power to get through a good amount of cutting before you need to worry about charging batteries. The chuck on this grinder is very easy to use with the Allen key locking tool. The easy move guard is also an excellent idea making it super simple with the push of a lever to turn the guard around to where you need it. 10 out of 10 product as usual from dewalt. Only negative is the small dust filters block up quickly when cutting any coated metals .

The grinder itself is soft to touch but still feels durable, nice and light for those longer jobs and also easy to carry around site. No messing around looking for power supply’s on site just clip in an 18v battery and you’re good to go. Compared to a 240v grinder I didn’t find any difference in power or speed which is impressive. Overall I am impressed with the dewalt grinder and would recommend it to someone in the market for a battery grinder.

Not only does this cost a lot less than similar models from competitor brands, it’s performance beats them by a mile. It’s a sturdy unit, good grip mega easy to use, even for the not so experienced diy-er! Really powerful has a long run time with a full battery charge. Discs are easy to change it works with sheer precision. A really robust model, excellent quality no complaints

DeWalt DCG405N 18V XR Brushless Cordless 125mm Angle Grinder Bare Unit

I have been replacing all my 240v power tools with the Dewalt XR 18v. This has just arrived and works as expected. The only feature I would have liked is a variable speed trigger like the multitool and drills. I missed this aspect and suspect I would have needed to upgrade to a higher spec model. Apart from that, no reason to doubt that this angle grinder will be as reliable as all the others. Batteries are interchangeable from 2ah to 5ah depending on the job in hand so very happy with this addition.

Great bit of kit

Good value for money. Have been frustrated with corded tools. This makes life much easier. It's powerful really easy to change the disk cutters and cleaver easy change of angle to the guard. As with all my other DeWalt tools they are rugged reliable and easy to identify while on site. I have a bunch of batteries so nice to be able to buy the tool and save on cost. It's comfortable to hold and strong enough to cope with some tough jobs. Worth buying

Great to have no trailing lead

Using with a 9Ah battery gives about an hours work, although after that if the disc is not balanced you hands are deffinately feeling it due to the lower machine weight. Once the battery is down to under 10% only then did I notice that the motor seemed to slow. The switch is a bit different in that it is latching and one on will continue to run and you can move your hands, although from a safety persepective it may not be ideal but from a work perspective quite useful. The switch is not in the ideal position but the lactching makes this a bit irrelevant. Robust little tool

Was reluctant to buy a cordless grinder as my usual corded one works so well I thought I would only be disappointed, however this tool has paid for itself in just a matter of days as it is so convenient to use and the rain doesn't stop play.It goes through the batteries, but the run time was better than expected. Ill still use my corded grinder for bit jobs but for smaller jobs its great.

Suprisingly good Battery Angle grinder

As usual, good De Walt tool. Delivered on time (actually a day early!), Well packaged and in good condition. Used already. Stronger than I thought a Battery grinder would be.
