I've used the saw once and does have a good reach (its a touch heavy but I guess DeWalt have done all they can to get it a light as possible), the battery / engine is powerful and cuts well, albeit a bit rough and splintery, not as clean cut as a conventional chainsaw - due to speed of the chain I suspect. I've found its best to get the speed up on the chain before touching a branch, otherwise it snags and stops revolving. The three parts screw together with chunky plastic units, my only concern is these might become rickety (they are riveted to the aluminium poles) and getlooser over time, there is already a slight wobble between the lower two section after half a days use. For me this tool is only for occasional spring/autumn use so should suffice.

I added this DeWalt Pole Saw to my growing collection of DeWalt tools in March 2021. I haven’t used it a lot, just for a few odd jobs pruning some chestnut and elm trees around the house, but it’s a handy tool for when you need it.It’s performed well, just as expected. The motor is at the top just behind the bar as in a standard chainsaw, while the battery is at the base below the handle. Having the motor at the top rather than the bottom as is typical with a petrol-powered pole saw makes sense to shorten the drive train, though it does make it a little top-heavy. This makes it a little trickier to manoeuvre, particularly at full extension, and when pulling branches out/down, though it does have the advantage of weighing down the bar a little which helps it cut ... MoreI added this DeWalt Pole Saw to my growing collection of DeWalt tools in March 2021. The aluminium alloy pole does bend a little at the joints while using it, but that’s not a big deal. Its power seems good, and being 18V it has the versatility to run on the 18V of Flexvolt batteries. I haven’t used it enough to observe run-time, though it’s not a concern when I’ve got plenty of 18V batteries. Note that the 4.5 m length in the specifications is actually the total reach, i.e. 1.5 m holding height plus 3.0 m pole. I originally thought the pole length was 4.5 m, so it turned out to be shorter than I expected.Overall it’s a solid saw, I can’t really fault it.

whilst pole saws and battery saws are great, the two together is greater than the sum of the parts.

For the past 5yrs I'd been using a petrol one, which was good. But I was sick of the fumes and mixing up petrol. This battery saw does the same job minus the fumes and is instantly ready to go when I am. Very happy with my purchase.
Bought roughly 6 months ago.The joins in the pole are very loose. There's a lot of slop regardless of how tightly the connection is done. The motor over heats far too easily and won't work again for a long time.
I've had this saw about 6 months, used it to trim some large trees. Really useful, powerful and makes quick work of the jobs. But the poles are quite flexible and one of them over time has bend at the connection point and no longer works.
Have used it already for trimming trees and bushes during Level 4 lockdown. Brilliant tool that gets the job done easily, haven't had any issues with chain oil leaking (suggest buying that at the same time). Easily enough power, as expected with any Dewalt product.
Purchased today and used for an hourWorked great. Well balanced and good reach even without the extension.
Pros ...great pole saw ...extremely useful...easy to service open up and clean..love the rechargeable battery which really lasts..easy add on extension pole option...brushless motor tops. Quick Excellent cutting ability ...plenty of grunt and I’ve used it...hedge cutter verses pole saw for the 60/50...give me the pole saw even for small jobs...even though hedge cutter gives an even cut...buying a De Walt brand ...other tools from these guys I’ve found tops ...and ...very reliable....so much so my brother wants to always “borrow” my tools for his home jobs..and never give them back.....Until he gets the #U!!# phone call....it’s a boomerang bro...and a free cold 6 pack!Cons.. uses unusually a lot of chain oil per outing check every time and head section drips when ... MorePros ...great pole saw ...extremely useful...easy to service open up and clean..love the rechargeable battery which really lasts..easy add on extension pole option...brushless motor tops. Bit Oily Messy to service after each use but its head is easy to open up ..buy the push top of swarfeger when you buy this ...big grizzle when I buy I like to buy whole kit...don’t forget the battery and charger are extra..plus bottle of good quality chain oil....expensive to lesser brands.
I couldn't be happier with this.I have many trees in my garden that need yearly pruning.A ladder and a chainsaw has been replaced with this much safer and easier option. The saw had no difficulty with branches up to 30cm diameter
