If you've owned Dewalt before and need a new drill just go and buy this, it does everything I need it to. Just don't be fooled by the way the screw clutch works. It's not like the old ones and just rattles on after letting go, it stops the drill. Plenty of torque, speed and power.
This replaced my Dewalt 36V hammer drill which lasted me over 10 years. Only replacing it because the brushes are worn and too expensive to replace. Brushless is the way to go for the next 10 years or more. It is smaller and more powerful with a great little torch. The chuck on the old one held on super tight and was easy to release. This one looks and feels like it will be even better.
Bought this to install a safe. Spent nearly two hours trying to drill four holes. Holes should have been 12cm and it could barely go in 3cm before the bit started smoking. Had a friend bring his hammer drill over using the same bit and his made short work of the job in 10 minutes.
Very solid and powerful tool. High quality construction. The variable-brightness LED light/torch is a great feature. The tool is relatively heavy but that's a small compromise to me. It is well weighted even with a big 5 Ah battery.

It works, has exceptional torque but can be detuned for the lighter jobs. I actually bought this for a work colleague. My own drill was out of action. Long story short, the 22mm drill bit I was using threaded down the pilot hole I had previously drilled. The handle caught on a floor bearer in a boat before l released the trigger. Resulting in handle semi detached, backwards and sideways. Totally operator error, awesome drill.

I guess that’s the trade-off for the power and capability of the drill, and I could probably do with a smaller drill for the delicate jobs. It’s also quite long, so I use a right-angled attachment with hex-shank drill bits for tight spaces, or several holders joined together to be able to drill a reasonably vertical hole close to a corner.I’d recommend using a smaller 18V battery with it, like the 4 Ah or 5 Ah, rather than the larger 18V/54V Flexvolt batteries, in order to save on weight. My kit only came with the larger 6 Ah batteries, and it made the drill a little unwieldy to use. The 4 or 5 Ah batteries are more than sufficient - they last so long that I basically forget about charging them. They would last me a week of heavy use, or weeks of light use.I’m glad I bought a DeWalt kit, and this drill seems to be a powerful, reliable, high-quality and valuable drill.
