Dewalt. I have been a Dewalt Fan since I got married and my dad made sure I had a 4pc Dewalt Kit Jobsite Radio to Match. He wanted me to have quality tools since so was a newlywed 1st time home owner. Dewalt has only gotten better over the last 20 years. The batteries have gotten smaller lighter but the have 60x more power. They make high quality products that preform and are super durable and quality. It’s worth the money to have quality tools. Yeah you can buy much cheaper tools at Harbor Freight that have a “lifetime” warranty. So that means you will be spending you valuable DIY saturdays in line returning a junk power tool for a new one that will last ten minutes and once again your driving back to exchange. I bought this saw a couple years ago, and have thanked myself ever since. When I grab it and install the correct blade, it has cut everything I’ve tasked it with: pruning unwanted growth in my yard, trees; sawing dimensional lumber; sawing metal pipe, and rip and tear remodeling. I am sold on brushless tools now and won’t buy brush type ever again. This saw has been a worth addition to all my other brushless Dewalt tools. Not a complaint from any of them.

I have used DeWalt ever since my daughter was a product rep for the company out of college. My older drills were having battery problems. I could not find original DeWalt batteries and tried some from other companies that did not hold a charge. My new drill, with more power than ever and even a light, came with two batteries. The cost of two of the old batteries was more than the price of the entire new drill set. I love the power, the light and the way it stands up. Great product.

I bought this to use for smaller limb and tree cutting tasks that I had been using my 12" electric chainsaw for. The 12" chainsaw works great, but maintenance is a hassle. I hate using it for 10min jobs then having to spend 20min cleaning it up.The Reciprocating saw works well and of course maintenance is super easy. Here's the plus/minus of this saw versus a small (12") electric chainsawPlus:1. this saw is at least 20x easier to maintain.2. this saw can saw off small tree stumps right down to ground level.3. this saw is more maneuverable - can get into tighter spaces4. this saw is more versatile for a variety of tasksMinus:1. this saw takes 3x longer to saw through a branch.2. this saw takes about 3x more energy to hold - because of torque/vibration etc. ... But to get stumps down to ground level or lower and for quick less than 10min sawing tasks, I'll use this reciprocating saw.
I bought this item about 2 weeks ago from Home Depot which included the 5amp battery. I have been shopping around for a while since my last 20v reciprocating saw broke and was out of warranty to even consider having fixed. I was getting by using my old 18v XRP with the 20v battery adapter but it was so chunky and heavy. I thought about purchasing the same style saw I had or even the brushless version but I happened upon this model. Being a Plumbing contractor and remodeller of bathrooms, I am continuously trying to get my saw in between studs and joists. This compact design does exactly what is described, as being able to fit in bays snd give more direct cuts to pipes and lumber. There seems to be way more power than my previous saws and it pretty much ran all day ... MoreI bought this item about 2 weeks ago from Home Depot which included the 5amp battery. There seems to be way more power than my previous saws and it pretty much ran all day on one 5amp battery cutting though 2x4's and pvc pipes. I was contemplating getting the brushed verson but ipon reading pros and cons of each I upgraded to the brushless model and I must say it was worth the extra investment. Thank you Dewalt!!
The main reason I purchased thing saw was because of it's ergonomic design. With previous reciprocating saws I've used, the standard way they are build worked just fine for standard cuts, but anything requiring an odd angle or tight space would be much more tricky. With it's more compact design and D-handle, I haven't run into any issues when it comes to working in less than ideal conditions. The cutting power is more than enough to accomplish the tasks in which I purchased it for.Being able to attach the blade in one of four positions is also great to further the saws ability to accomplish cuts that other reciprocating saws would be more awkward in doing. The locking mechanism on the side make for super quick and easy blade changes, way better than past saws I've ... MoreThe main reason I purchased thing saw was because of it's ergonomic design. The locking mechanism on the side make for super quick and easy blade changes, way better than past saws I've used the put the blade release just behind the blade attachment.I have currently been using the saw with a 4.0 Ah and have not had any issues with low running time. I have gone out and completed fairly lengthy tasks (roughly 2 hours of continuous off and on use) and didn't need to replace the battery. It was fairly low by the time I was done, which is too be expected. I have read other reviews of customers that complained that they couldn't get a full 2 minutes of run time from a battery of the same size. Makes me wonder if they can't grasp the concept that manufacturing defects can happen with the best and worst items, and doesn't automatically represent a fault of the tool itself. The only downside to the saw is the lack of the ability to adjust the travel patch of the blade. On some jobs that don't require accuracy, just a quick cut, it would be nice to give the blade path a more aggressive angle of attack. If it had this feature, then I would have easily given this 5 stars.
There were several other saws that said American made but upon checking the box they are Chinese or Mexican made. This American made saw is hands down the best Dewalt sawzall I have ever owned. It has functionality, versatility, and durability. Just buy the larger battery with for extended use or swap two smaller batteries for continued use. So long as it continues to be made in America by Americans I’ll pay more for it. Educated workers make better products and I felt great knowing I was supporting American families and American ideals buying this product. If they go back to Chinese or Mexican made saws, which are junk compared to these I will not buy dewalt anymore. Keep up the good work dewalt and I’ll keep buying your products.
Solid product however it would be nice if MSC said at the top of the header if a battery is included. It tells you in the top bold header it uses a 20V battery, then right below it in big bold letters is 20V Max battery which could easily have said included or not included with it. It makes it seem like the battery is included. I do not think this was done intentional as misleading advertising but it could definitely use improvement. Did not realize until after the order was placed the battery was not included and will have to order separately which is definitely more expensive.
Great little recip saw. I have used this one almost daily in my line of work and it has yet to disappoint. Good run time on the 3, 4 and 5 aH dewalt batteries. It's nice not having to drag an extension cord and generator around with me everywhere. Just make sure you're using the saw correctly and with the appropriate blades for your cut.
I’ve been plumbing sence 1988 and always bought Dewalt from the beginning. I have rebuilt their old style sawall and desided to buy a new one. I bought this one because it’s the only one with adjust 4 way head to put blade on both ways. Well with new charged battery’s it would not cut through nails when cutout bottom of studs at bottom or top plate. It would start cutting and then stop. This is with a wood blade on nails, but I would do it all the time with their old style I had. It just doesn’t have much power. Really to bad, but had to go back to there really old style (from early 2000’s) because there other ones don’t have the 4 way head. Dumb.
