Product fine. I bought this drill set plus a cordless drill on the internet. Total purchase $125 approximately, on a $200 gift card. Due to a billing problem, Lowe’s said charges declined, not enough $ on the gift card ! This was the only purchase on this gift card.Visited the store, the pickup desk employee tried to resolve the issue, but said that would take one hour. Disappointed, I returned the drill set, and declined to pickup the cordless drill. I ended up purchasing nothing.I would hesitate ordering anything from Lowe’s over the internet in the future.

These drill bits do well in softwood like redwood. Have used it in limited situations to enlarge holes in sheet metal. Good value, but experienced one broken bit, one of the larger bits probably 5/16, but I may have fatigued the metal drilling about 40 holes in a butcher block countertop to provide jigsaw blade access. One thing that might be an improvement is keeping all the bits the same length and maximizing bit length that fits in the case…thus would have been helpful when making pilot holes for longer screws like ledger structural screws. Smaller bits do not have flats to prevent them from spinning in the chuck, would be nice to have.

I have been looking for a drill caddy that held the drills in place so that they don't splatter when you drop the case and a case that doesn't wear out and break in half. This one has a positive lock on it and every drill above 5/32nds has flat spots on their shanks. I don't know if it actually helps, but it makes me feel better. The same with the fancy points, I don't know how much it helps, but with so many drills being hollow ground where I can't re-sharpen them, I appreciate drills I can clean up and sharpen. I liked the addition of the 1/2 drill on the big end. And on the back they put the metric sizes of the drills. I just cut that out and put in inside the case. In this changing world you never know when that will come in handy. I liked that I could get more drill bits for my money rather than buying the bits singularity. When I compared prices of single drill bits verses this nice pack. The decision was easy, more for my money with this choice!
For lite duty soft wood jobs yes its ok use. But for harder woods I really don't recommend it. My wife and son bought it for me and I was excited to use it with my son on a project. I used it on my drill press and noticed it even with soft woods it took sometime to drill it. With the hard woods had to keep going up and down on the press. To the point I end up using my old school Dewalt. Like I said for lite duty work yes heavy duty don't recommend it. Remember now and days just because your buying the name it may not be the quality of what they use to be.
Needed for drilling a hole through gelcoat then fiberglass on my jet ski. Have not used yet but they should work good. Have a bunch of old bits and wanted fresh for this ski because it has a flawless paint job. Ordering online and picking up in the locker is the BEST!
Bought these for my daughter. If the bits equal the same qualities as the Dewalt bits I own then they will hold up well. Split point is required when drilling steel and useful in other materials. Drill Doctor does split point. In addition, the flats on the shank of the larger bits are a useful feature. Been using both these features for 41 years. Good to see these features in big-box bits.
I bought the 29 piece Black & Gold set yesterday because I needed to drill alot of 7/16" holes. But as I soon found out, they are not really sharp enough to bite into the steel to drill the hole. The outer edge turn into a dull edge quickly giving you a dull bit. That was the outcome using it in my drill press. Will return to Lowes tomorrow for an exchange to another brand.
This particular set, I purchased as a gift for someone else, but I've used these DeWalt's oxide-coated bits myself, and they are solid, good-cutting bits that are pleasantly affordable without being cheaply-made. I've used bits of higher and lower caliber, and for myself, I find it hard to want more than what these provide. (The notable exception for me is when I need hex-shank bits -- which these are not.) I do like that these have a triangular shank instead of round. I find that it does help the chuck grip it more securely.So far, all of the DeWalt twist drill bits I've used have been straight and true. Can't say that about Bosch or Milwaukee, although on the whole I like their bits too. Every manufacturer will have a warped bit out there somewhere. The drill bits are strong. I’ve used the to drill thru drywall, mdf, oak, aluminum, and steel. These are the best drill bit set I’ve owned, by far. Also, I really like that the case is designed to connect with other cases and has dovetail bit holders so you can customize your container as needed.
