It does exactly what it's supposed to do - measure accurately with an easy-to-read display. It does not calculate area or angles or tell the time or connect to your phone or give advice on the stockmarket or anything else except measure distances - very well. It's nice and small, rechargeable and p**s easy to use. Can't ask for more.

For the price this is a handy and easy to use bit of kit, I checked the sizes against a tape measure and they proved to be very accurate. Small enough to keep in your pocket so handy just to carry around rather than a bulky tape measure. I didn't give a full star rating has it has one annoying thing, to change the setting from metric to inches (I use metric) you hold the button for 3 seconds to turn the unit off you hold the button for 5 seconds which means every time you turn it off it switches it to inches first, next time you use it you first need to change it back. I just leave it on to go off on it's own timer, after all it is USB rechargeable so it's not costing in replacement batteries.

Does what it's supposed to for a good price, particularly from Toolstation compared to other retailers. Using the on button for multiple functions - turn laser on/off, change unit and turn off device is a little fiddly. I would have perhaps added a separate perhaps recessed button to change unit as I don't see myself doing that very often. Whereas laser toggle and turning the device off will happen far more often.

Great little measuring device. The measurement is from the base (rear) of the unit so you can butt it up against a wall (Aaron’s review below is wrong because he hasn’t understood this). The range is suitable for most indoor uses such as measuring rooms of window frames. If you want a greater range for use outdoors you will need to spend a lot more than $63.
This device is very compact, about the size of a small box of matches, so it's easy to fit in the toolbox or pocket when out and about. It has rechargeable batteries which is handy, and uses a standard phone lead and charger to charge. Charge seems to last a good amount of time too. Some people have said that it doesn't hold the measurement, but a quick look at the instructions shows it does. Simply press the button once to aim the laser at where you want to measure, then press again and the measurement is held on the screen until you press again to line up the next measurement. To change from metric to imperial you press and hold the button until the display changes, to turn it off you hold the button a little longer and it shuts down. Quite simple once you get used to it.The display is very clear to read, much easier than the old LCD measure which I used to have, and measurements are accurate enough. I did notice that at around 150mm the readings were slightly off, but I don't really see this as a problem, for measurements that small I would use a ruler or tape and not a laser! Test measurements I took of a room and compared to tape were accurate to within a couple of mm.Build quality is solid, although it is covered in rubber; that's useful for grip, but these rubber coatings do have a tendency to turn into a tarry sticky mess over the years. Can't say if that would happen with this, I'll come back in 10 years and let you know :)The only thing I would like to see included is a protective case. The lens for the laser is quite exposed, and I can imagine that if chucked into a toolbox it would soon get dirty or scratched. I have found an old felt case to keep it in to save it from damage, but it would be nice to see that included in the box.Overall a recommended tool, I have found it particularly useful for room measurements, and it's the easiest way to get floor to ceiling dimensions.
Handy pocket gadget. Using it to measure room dimensions for furniture positioning. Easy operation - button click for laser on, click again for laser off and it retains the last measurement on the screen. Easy to change from feet to metres. Auto shut off after a few minutes. Rechargeable with micro USB cable. Smaller than expected but does the job perfectly well for me.
Perfect measuring from A to B - so long as you're going from one hard edge to another. You could measure wood with it, but need to put a barrier at the end point for the laser to hit or you'll just be measuring the distance between you and the first thing it hits. For rooms, one person can do it easily with one hand, no more finding someone to hold the end or crawling around obstacles.
Got this a few days ago to measure out roof lines and stop dropping tapes on my head. Out of the box tap measure test gave the following results. 100mm @ 0.165, 1m @ 1.067m, 3m @ 3.067m 10m @ 10.701m. the biggest issue I have is the angle the laser comes out over 10m it raise 20mm. So the unit is not build square or the internals are plan faulty. The LCD panel is bright and easy to read in sunlight. Although the little red dot is easy to lose in the same light and even at 9m is lost and brings up an error if the surface is not solid.
This is just a very nice easy to use measure.I use it for measuring floor to ceiling and ceiling spans.Mine is about +/- 2 to 4mm out but for me that is more than good enough.Small and fits in a trouser pocket.Display is really easy to read too.I also like the constant reading. Why the harsh 4 stars? It should have a wrist strap and a nice little pouch. But I'm fussy.Buy one.
Small but well worth it. Yes most people say it’s small and they are not wrong. This makes it hard to hold easily. If they were to photograph it in the hand of a trades person I would not have made the purchase as I was expecting it to me larger
