I started using my new tough system 2.0 about a week ago. I didn’t realize how badly I needed this box until I started using it! I’m one of those people that leaves tools everywhere and can never find them when I need them. Now, after loading all of my Dewalt products into this box it’s like one stop shopping when ever I need something! It’s such a pleasure to open that box and see everything I need right there. I ended up buying a second box because I ran out room in the first one. Now I have a second box with only a drill in it so with all the extra room in the second box I’ll need to purchase more Dewalt products! When I ordered this I was expecting a smaller box that would match the T-Stak I use for my oscillating tool. Pleasantly surprised, but disappointed at the same time. I thought I would use it at work... change of plans, I am keeping it for my personal use! It is big enough my drill & saws to store upright, so no digging to get out what I need. Finishing the basement in my spare time, so I am using it now to store those tools. No need for the waterproof part right now, but the seal is tight.I like the catch that holds the top open. Just a couple plastic tabs so time will tell how long that lasts. The hasps are tight, but if you don't latch them it can still be carried without the top flopping open.Guess a sign of age is complaining about the price. Well made, sturdy tool box and organizer. It has many desirable features and is customizable to your needs. DeWalt make great tool box solutions and you will not be disappointed by this unit. I bought it on sale, so it was a good price. Regular price is a bit pricey, other than than a great tool box!
We bought this to use in our utv when making repairs around our farm. The fact it's waterproof and dustproof were selling points, as we no longer have to scurry to move tools into the cab if we get caught in a rain shower. Dusty country roads assure you that EVERYTHING will be covered with dirt....except the tools inside this case. This product is well made and very durable. We liked it so much we ordered the smaller toolbox to sit on top of this one and will probably eventually add the box with wheels for more options for tool storage and ease of moving tool boxes. We looked at several name brand boxes, but kept coming back to the DeWalt. It was a good choice for us. This box will received much use for a very long time.
My weekend gig Is harvesting reclaimed wood from old houses as well as businesses with crates and skids. Most of the time I have to get in and out quickly, especially at businesses. I can’t take the time to haul in a bunch of toolboxes or make multiple trips to get tools. I get in, harvest the wood and get out as quick as I can. I find the DeWalt TOUGHSYSTEM® 2.0 Large Toolbox is the perfect size for everything I need. It’s easy to carry and the latches hold tight. The seal on the lid holds out the weather on rainy days. I can easily empty it and wash it out with the hose if it gets too dirty. It’s also nice to know that I can expand with additional boxes that snap on with the optional 2 wheel carrier. The perfect all in one system.

The second number refers to the water resistance, which at 5 means it can withstand low pressure water spray from all directions. It is also resistant to allowing moisture in that will form condensation, which you know can be the true death of tools in storage.There is a really nice rubber detent that holds the lid in the open position during use, or during the once yearly dirt shake-out. It is large enough for a circular saw, a couple impact drivers, and batteries for all.For things that I don’t like, the lid detents that I like are stiff and take a good push to close the lid. The rubber gasket seals so well that it can take a little force to open it if there has been a significant temperature change. Don’t let the plastic alarm you, the latches clamp down with enough force to keep all the dirt and debris on the outside. The hinge offers a nice feature that will catch as it starts to close helping to avoid accidental closure when you are reaching inside. Side latches allow you to connect to other TOUGHSYSTEM® 2.0 boxes (DWST08165, DWST08400, DWST08165) as well as fold up a latch for connecting the small compartments container (DWST08020). To keep items securely inside the metal ring on the front allows you to add a lock to the box.The price point makes this an excellent choice for professionals and weekend warriors alike. It will offer great job site protection, and ease of use around the house tackling projects. The only downside for this box, and the 2.0 system, is that I would like to see compatibility with DeWalt’s other stacking component boxes. They’re on a different scale and latching system but some level of connection would be nice to bridge the product lines as I often need both boxes for a task. This is a personal preference and not something that would apply to all consumers.
I’d purchase a tool kit that came with the tough system box. Liked the quality, function….. until I went to expand the kit.Would like to see the other boxes to fit them to my needs however…. Lowes, Home Depot, etc etc…… Seem to only get the lower wheeled box and the Deep Organizer.only. When I asked at the stores…. They all said the same thing…. We don’t get a lot from Dewalt… and in that light no Supply chain and Covid excuses as the other, Milwaukee,Ridgid are all in abundant supply on the shelf.Dewalt….. better step it up…. You can have the best products in the world at the best price point…. No products on the shelves…. No Sale.
