Fit perfectly, indistinguishable from the OEM air filter. I really clogged mine up with drywall dust on a recent project, and just knocking it off and blowing it out from the inside wasn't doing a very good job of getting the fine dust off. So I bought this new one after making sure it was the proper OEM replacement (I have the battery-only portable vac), and it works great!

Good filter, OEM replacement. Fits Dewalt DCV581H. The filter is robustly made, main pleat material is paper, with metal casing on the inside of the filter's clean side. There is a layer of white membrane on the dirty side of the filter; probably extra filtration that makes it HEPA. Be very careful when you clean/wash the filter. If you're using compressed air, make sure you regulate the compressed air down to lower levels (~ 50 psi), otherwise you'll strip the outer membrane (ask me how I know...). When washing, don't scrub the outer pleats as the membrane could be damaged too. Otherwise, the construction of the whole assembly is robust, and should last a long time as long as care is taken when cleaning it.

The time it takes to finally get the product is a bit long. The price and shipping costs are not very competitive.
With a Name of Dewalt it is one of the best. But DO NOT GET THE FILTER WET! It can't dry out and reuse You must go buy a high coast replacement and install it, other than that it is great
This filter not only holds up but it is easy to clean, and lasts a very long time! This is the second filter I bought in a year and I use the vacuum all the time!
Needed a replacement filter for my DeWalt DCV580 wet/dry vacuum. This filter now allows me to rinse the dirty filter and continue using the vacuum with the spare while the other filter dries.
I work in construction. Mostly in hospitals. These hepa filters last for a long time and still don’t emit any debris, even while cleaning such as concrete and drywall dust,
Filter was exactly perfect replacement for my original and this was a Dewalt brand which fit perfect!
See K. Chiews comment of March 2015. Hes absolutely correct about the outer membrane. Not sure if this is for the hepa rating or to make it washable but the membrane greatly reduces the volume of air through this filter. So ask yourself do you really need a hepa filter or a washable filter that needs to be cleaned delicately and wont last long. This little vac is limited enough in pick-up power and this filter reduces that even more. Once the membrane was blown off with a high pressure air gun the filter, and the vac, operated much better.
