Drilled a hole through 18 gage stainless steel sink. Took over an hour using plenty of oil and stopping when smoke appeared. Some damage to the Dewalt DWA1789IR bit. Probably reusable? It did the job to my satisfaction but added over $80 to the job.

Cut through 1/4" cast iron using a Milwaukee battery hand drill with no issues. Haven't tried with impact driver, but no visible signs of wear as of yet.
I carry these in my tool bag with my 1/4 driver. This way I don't need to carry a drill as well as driver. Holds up well.

This type of bit should be the first investment you make, why? Because it cuts faster and truer than the competition. There may be a better tool available but this is the best investment to start with. Every other maker is just trying to catch up.
as a contractor i use a multitude of tools. Ive tried many step bits from other brands but so far the Dewalt has stayed sharpest the longest!
