This game is fantastic. I played a bit of Diablo 3 with friends over couch coop, but this is the first time I have really dug in and absorbed the full game experience. With that I am having a blast slaying 1000's of demons, vampires, cannibals, bears and all manner of foul creatures. If you are into the loot centered action RPG style gameplay, this is a must play. Also, yes Best Buy screwed up my preorder and got the game to me multiple days late, but that doesn't warrant reviewing the game poorly, Instead I will avoid preordering from them in the future.

55 hours in, and I realised that I've descended into another Diablo game without thinking of the consequences, again. This is a much vaunted return to the darker Diablo series, not just in colour palette. It's more Diablo II than III, and that's a better test of the traditional dungeon crawl gameplay that Diablo is renowned for.Alongside this, the storyline is less binary in the Eternal Conflict between good and evil. There's more nuance, less absolutes, and you pause to think about why you do what you do.I loved it, but I've been playing Diablo since we first delved into Tristram Cathedral. For new players to the series, you must be prepared for the loot grind.

This game is amazing! It is the best Diablo in terms of graphics so far. It does fall short compared to other Diablo games when it comes to things like there is no separate section where your gems are stored. This means you are constantly clearing your inventory of items. There needs to be more space. The biggest gripe I have is needing to be online to play this game. I'm not interested in playing online games. I play games by myself, with my wife, with my kid, or all of us together. I had to create a Battle.Net account just so I could play this game. My wife also. We didn't have to do this with the previous Diablo (Diablo 3) that was also on the console. We like to play the game by ourselves and not have people interfering with our quests.

With its sprawling dungeons and formidable enemies, the game offers a pleasing challenge to fans of the hack-and-slash genre. The class diversity is commendable. Whether you're a fan of brute force Barbarians, swift and deadly Rogues, or magical Mystics, each class comes with its unique set of skills and gameplay style. However, the game could benefit from better balancing as some classes seem underpowered without specific unique item drops.Speaking of item drops, Diablo 4 delivers a variety of loot ranging from basic equipment to legendary items, which amplifies the game's inherent thrill of exploration and battling. The rush of finding a powerful piece of gear after an intense encounter is a feeling unmatched. However, the game does stumble in the face of grinding. After reaching level 50, character progression slows to a crawl. The need for increasingly high experience points to level up, coupled with a scarcity of high-impact loot drops, makes the game feel excessively grindy at this stage. This pacing issue is something that fans of the franchise might find particularly disconcerting, as it could potentially rob the game of its otherwise enjoyable progression. Moreover, I have found that some classes lack viable builds unless you luck into very specific unique drops. Throughout my first 73 levels, despite rigorous monster bashing and dungeon crawling, these items remained elusive. This heavy reliance on RNG can be frustrating for players, especially when it hampers class potential and build diversity. In conclusion, Diablo 4 is an excellent addition to the franchise, providing both captivating gameplay and high-quality storytelling. But it doesn't shy away from demanding hefty grinding post level 50 and requires a bit of luck in obtaining class-specific unique items. Even with these hurdles, it's a journey worth embarking on, especially if you are a fan of the genre. A patch to address these issues could go a long way in solidifying its standing in the world of action RPGs.
Diablo IV is an improvement over D3. The story is much better, but much darker. The reintroduction of the skill tree lends itself to greater build diversity. The open world and challenges makes it seem like there is more to do. It's not perfect and could use a few improvements. They should have included the ability for keyboard support on PS5 to make chat easier, not everyone can use a headset all the time. Overall though, a good time.
Disclosure: I have spent over 300+ hours in the Diablo universe between 2, 3+Reaper of Souls expansion. I've competed the platinum trophy for 3 on the PS3 as well as the PS4 rerelease.Diablo IV is massive and there are a LOT of things going on. The map is enormous, there are something 300+ side quests, and plenty to find. What you will not find is anything that makes you feel powerful, no matter the class you choose. Just yesterday, after players discovered they could get one of the rare Uber unique items through the Helltide mode, they all got taken out of the game.Let's get this out of the way as well: this is NOT a solo friendly game. If you intend to get to level 100 (the current max level), you are looking at over 200 hours. Even if you find someone to boost you, you are still talking 70-90 hours. I am at 62 hours played, and i am only at 61 (Keep in mind, it takes TWICE AS LONG to go from 85-100 as it does to go from 1-85).You cannot play this game offline. At all. If the server goes down, you're out of luck. And it will, you can count on that.Blizzard used to be a keystone gaming company. However they have completely lost their way. You're much better off sticking with Diablo III's Eternal Collection or Diablo II Remastered. In both of these games, you can actually feel powerful in a reasonable amount of time. You never feel this in Diablo IV.I had high hopes for this game, but with the near certainty that the in game store will eventually sell XP boosting items, this is a long term cash grab plain and simple.
This game is awesome and long awaited. The only downside is it needs internet to play ALL the time. If you don’t have a decent connection, I wouldn’t bother. It’s a large game and requires a very good internet connection. It says Xbox One compatible but it’s not. I had to get a new console to be able to play it, as Xbox One doesn’t have an optical drive so if you have the OG Xbox one, it won’t work. The game itself is amazing aside from those things.
Let me state, if you like a MMO, great. If you are a social person, great. I'm not knocking that. With that said, I didn't want WOW lite. I wanted the old Diablo experience of playing alone or couch co op. I should have read more and not pre-ordered this game.Everything was fine until I hit the first big town and noticed people in my game and getting into fighting my mobs. Needless to say I was disappointed and then angry when I could not turn it off. I don't want to play with LUGNUTZ69. I want to be immersed into the game. The game looks great and was decently fun to play until my experience was ruined. It just smacks of a cash grab from Blizzard. The got my $$$, so shame on me. I cannot give much of a review as to gameplay. I bought it for my boyfriend and I'm just completing this review for a chance at a $400 giftcard. I haven't played the game myself. However, he did say it was an improvement on Diablo 3. Also, he used to sleep in before work most days, and ever since it came out he's been waking up earlier just to play it. Watching him play it, the graphics are impressive and the story is captivating. Also, the preorder process went smoothly.
Pros: I can say the graphics are pretty solid for a dungeon crawler. Definitely on par with todays standards. There is plenty to do that you wont get bored with the story and side quests. The map is HUGE! For those who appreciate some difficult/chanllenge in a game the creatures do level with you. Cons: im not a fan of the persistent connection and the micro transactions for the expensive cosmetics. Five character choices is kinda limiting as well.
