Rums around the $40 to mid $40 range of similar quality. Buy them instead. Maybe they'll get the hint and get competitive again. The 12 yr. old is similarly overpriced for a 12 yr. old Rum,... but it is tasty if price is no concern.

It's amazing how many people love this rum without realizing it is highly adulterated with sugar, color, and flavorings, not to mention Dictador's history of misleading info regarding distillate source and age. In other words, if you think you are drinking a 20 year old rum, you are being heavily misled. Ultimately people like what they like, but I hope this review can be a warning to potential buyers to do your research and know there are many other more reputable brands with equal or better products at equal or lesser prices.
So I can say honestly this is a fantastic rum. Super smooth. I had this surprisingly for the first time in Europe where it was recommended. When I came home I bought it immediately. Definitely a sipper. This is worth the $$. You can taste the flavors of brown sugar, coffee notes, and almost like a toffee Carmel flavor.
Very smooth, silky and sweet. Probably one of the best rums I have tasted. I like this one because of its sweetness. I like to contrast it to Havana Club Seleccion de Maestros, which is a stronger, bolder rum with notes of tobacco or contrast it with Pampero Aniversario which is also bold. Pour just a bit of each rum on two glasses and take one sip from one and one from the other. Beyond good.
Great flavor, high quality product. If you like soft, deep rums this is a good choice. It is produced in Cartagena, Colombia.
I highly recommend to try with a bite of dar chocolate! Melts in your mouth! The bottle comes in a nice package, makes a great gift also for a lady! Absolutely outstanding rum! If you normally drink good Whiskey and Cognac you will fell in love with this one!
This is my go-to rum when I’m looking to just relax and enjoy a drink on its own. Unlike many other rums I’ve tasted. It is smooth, very sweet and excellent stand alone rum if you’re looking for something outside the ordinary.
It's my favorite rum, mostly because of smooth and intriguing taste. Subtle notes of caramel, vanilla and honey, accent with coffee. I hesitated a bit before buying, but I trusted opinions. Excellent!
