Diptyque Tam Dao Eau De Parfum Spray - 75ml/2.5oz

I like the beginning of the opening, with the cypress/myrtle/rose smell. I don't like rose in general, but here it's bright and fresh, and not old school/dusty. It's also not feminine-leaning; if anything it's towards the masculine side. The opening disappears extremely quickly, though. As it starts to progress, the sandalwood comes out shortly after. It's more of the "pencil shavings" type of sandalwood and not the creamy kind. By the time it reaches the end, it develops a tobacco-like accord on me, in a slightly pungent way. I don't think it's badly done for what it is, but I just don't like this scent profile. Better for fans of earthier, deeply woodsy scents.

The predominant notes in this fragrance are cedar and sandalwood. Initially, there is a strong burst of cedarwood that overpowers the sandalwood, but the sandalwood fragrance does peek through eventually, though not for long. I love both woodsy notes and do not mind that cedar predominates. The only downside is that it does not last long, maybe 1-2 hr with 4-5 shots onto clothing. The next day, you can detect lingering fragrance at several inches. I tried the perfume version, supposedly twice as concentrated, that costs about the same, considering the fragrance oil concentration, and the longevity is maybe 30% better. I'm familiar with the sandalwood scent via Mysore Sandalwood Soap, and Tam Dao EDT smells nearly the same as a bar of the soap, allowing time for the cedar to subside. I find Tam Dao a very relaxing scent, appropriate for all occasions, and even spray some on my pillow at night, since it is deeply relaxing and nearly meditative. Love it, love it, love it.

For being one of their more popular fragrances, I felt letdown by the initial smell. It was very nutty/earthy smelling. It kind of turned me off. I will say the drydown is better than the immediate application of it. The woodyness starts to come through and a softer scent appears. Still, for the cost, I expect the whole start-to-finish to be amazing and it just wasn't there for me. The drydown is what saved it and made it "ok," but I don't ever see this being a purchase. I had high hopes for this one, but it just doesn't make the cut. I also have Orpheon by Diptyque, but that item doesn't showcase on Influenster. I must say that's a far better scent, but the longevity isn't there. Start there if you're a guy and are ever so intrigued to try anything by Diptyque.

With a collection of more than 70 bottles of perfume, this is one of my very favorites. Creamy, woody with a little hint of greenness and smoke thrown in there, this is one of the most beautiful sandalwood scents I’ve ever smelled. It has a relaxing zen quality that makes it perfect for bed time, or when you want to reset your nose with something simpler and minimalistic. It is perfectly unisex, without leaning towards any gender in particular. It’s just neutral. Perfect!

This is an absolutely beautiful fragrance. It opens up as a milky lemongrass heated wood. It has a calming effect as it smells like sanded down well worn welcoming slightly humid wood. The abstract image that it evokes is like sitting in plush sofa made entirely of wood. It passes the feeling of cashmere made from wood strips. It is an unusual scent. It is inoffensive elegant scent that can be worn in any occasion.

Diptyque is so underrated!

I feel like I never hear anyone rave about Diptyque but I have not been let down. Philosykos is my favorite and I just purchased Tam Dao and Do Son on a whim. I don’t typically like sandalwood but for me this settled down into a nice, comforting skin scent. Just a homey, warm, nice smell. I can’t put my finger on what makes it smell so comforting but I love it. It’s very light which I prefer. Again, Diptyque did not disappoint.

Heavy, masculine but beautiful

I picked this up for my boyfriend for his birthday a couple of years ago. I love this scent on him however it’s not one I personally would describe as unisex (I for reference wear Do son as my daily wearer, a definite unisex scent), Tam Dao is more of a heavy, woody/spicy scent, maybe an evening scent for some women. This scent is always the one I pick out for him to wear from his collection, it’s like nothing I’ve ever smelt, not your typical man’s cologne at all! He always gets questions about it and loves having a scent that’s a little bit special and not something everyone’s wearing.

This is a truly unique fragrance and I have nothing more to say about it other than it is beautiful. This can definitely pass as a unisex sent and I would wear it myself all the time. Unique fragrance!

This is a great fragrance with woody, fresh and spicy notes. Very long lasting... I can smell this on my clothes a few days after spraying it. This is my first Diptyque perfume and I'm definitely not disappointed. I was looking for a daily / signature fragrance that is long lasting but also not too intense or over powering and this one fits the bill!

Wonderful fragrance

I really like this fragrance! It smells like walking through a forest after rain. I can definitely smell sandalwood and something similar to mint. It is a very refreshing and intoxicating scent that is in my opinion unisex. It works well both in the winter and summer.
