I purchased this immediately after DJI released this drone. This is my 8th DJI drone and by far the nicest . It replaced my Air2S, which is one of the best drones I have ever owned. The Air 3 has about every kind of feature that DJI puts into their camera drones. On my first flight, the fast speed and acceleration is the first thing I noticed . It’s a hot rod. While the camera sensor is smaller than the Air2S, it still takes a suburb picture and the video is actually a tad better. The best way to describe the camera versus the Air2S is that it’s just “Different”. Not really better or worse. Battery life is incredible. And The RC2 controller with OcuSync 4 is way better and stronger than previous versions.

I wasn't going to purchase this drone. Nope. HOWEVER, after finding out that it has rear-stacked sensors & waypoints, I did. The two cameras are the very same size as the year-old Mini 3 Pro, and what a difference! They provide complementary camera performance, and post editing is simple as you are getting the very same pixels from both cameras. The amount of light that is available to the sensors is pretty impressive. Think of leaving the eye doctor after having your eyes dilated. It is easily drawn down in the settings and +/- 0 does work in a lot of circumstances. For this reason, ND filters are highly recommended to keep in your bag. Like the drone, it's compact, light and gets the job done well. This may be the first drone in my fleet that I DON'T keep in a GPC hardcase. Finally, battery-life is fantastic and the new charging hub is bulky but keeps the batteries safe, clean and will discharge over time to the appropriate levels if not used for a few days/week. It's also a powerbank and has a new feature called Power Accumulation. This will transfer the remaining power of batteries with low power to the battery with the highest remaining power. It's slick on the go.The new DJI RC 2 is what the DJI RC should have been, but with Occusync 4, I see why they didn't do it a year ago. Range? Penetration? Amazing!Don't be fooled by sensor sizes, as technology has pretty much made that stat a moot point. I have a Mavic 3 Cine and the Air 3 output is very very close regarding quality. I love my Air 3. Well done DJI!

The DJI Air 3 is the all around the best camera drone for your money. The Air 3 boasts the first dual-primary camera system of the Air series, embedding a 1/1.3-inch-CMOS wide-angle camera and 1/1.3-inch medium tele camera in a sleek and compact body. The two cameras have the same sensor size but different focal lengths delivering consistent image quality and more dynamic imaging possibilities. On a side note you should purchase a lens filter set to slow down the shutter speed and clean up the pictures in bright light situations. You don’t want to spend the money on the drone without buying a lens filter set for the different lighting situations and if you don’t plan on it then you should just buy a dirt cheap drone. This is certainly an amazing drone, everything about it from performance to cameras amazes me. If you're looking for the best drone, and don't care about having to register it in the US, this is your drone. The closest that comes to it would be the Mavic 3 Classic, but honestly I still would choose this one any day.I am able to read, and knew it wasn't coming with a charging brick or ND filters in the box. There are a lot, and I mean a lot of people who are really barking up every available tree about this. Don't be one of those people. Plug the batteries into the highest wattage brick you've undoubtedly got around your house. In the more recently released DJI drones none have come with ND filters.I'm in love with this drone. An upgrade in every way from the Air 2s. Much has been made and said of the 1-inch sensor on the Air 2s, but there are no compromises with the sensors on the Air 3. Yes, the sensor is smaller on the Air 3. But there's TWO of them. And the pictures are vibrant and sharp. If you pixel-peep, you may see a little something on the Air 2s image that maybe sorta somewhat kinda possibly looks better than the Air 3. But when you look at the images as a whole, the Air 3 wins. Add the refinements and improvements, and I think it makes the Air 3 a clear convincing upgrade. The battery life alone gives you calm confidence to really explore your possible shots, and the 360-degree obstacle avoidance is dependable and calming. Definitely one of DJI's best drones ever!
From all the published stats and the talking heads on YT, you'd think this was the ultimate drone. It actually might be but only when you take purchase price into consideration. You get a lot for the money, no question. From a performance standpoint, this thing really can fly, is quieter than the Air 2s that it replaces, and has a mind-numbing distance range of around 12 miles (no obstacles). The battery can last up to 46 minutes in light wind, and takes around 80 minutes to recharge. The two cameras on board are nice to have and do make a difference in your videos in terms of compression of the elements in the scene. But for all the good points, here are a few negatives to think about. Firstly, DJI gives you a USB C to USB C cable to recharge your batteries. What ... The two cameras on board are nice to have and do make a difference in your videos in terms of compression of the elements in the scene. But for all the good points, here are a few negatives to think about. Firstly, DJI gives you a USB C to USB C cable to recharge your batteries. What they don't give you is the 30w ac/dc converter to plug into the wall. Nowhere does it mention that, so when they delivered this product, I couldn't fly it because of something that most people would assume would be in the box. Now think of DJI as a class act that delivers a very negative impression over something that costs them very little. The controller has a pretty small screen, but some would say that it's better than their phone. On that I agree, but on a sunlit day, good luck being able to see anything. It helped that I was familiar with the GoFly app, so I knew where to find the screen controls. Forget being able to see them on a sunny day. Sensor size does matter, and while 48mp might give you the impression that the image is equivalent to say and Nikon Z8, forget that; they're not comparable. The 1:1.3 sensor size doesn't deliver a better file than the DJI Air 2s at 24mp and a 1 sensor. Next, and most importantly, the controller firmware update couldn't complete and would get stuck at 92%. It wasn't because it couldn't connect to the drone. Heck, it would reboot the drone at least once a minute, and after 20 minutes or so would just quit and tell you to shut everything off and start again. 2 calls to DJI and no real solution. In fact, the second rep told me to turn off the controller during the firmware update which effectively turned it into a brick. Now it couldn't pair with the drone and she offered no option at that point. Perhaps downloading from DJI to my computer first would have been a better way to go instead of downloading the firmware directly to the controller, but she didn't think of that. Anyway, the Air 3 is boxed and will be sent back tomorrow (get a case # from DJI for any defect returns to B&H). Now I'm not sure which way to go - I do need and use drones.

When you receive the Air3 Fly More Combo package, you will quickly find out that it is a fly less combo package since it is missing the required 65 watt minimum USB-C charger, or 100 watt recommended charger. You will do research as to why you only received a USB-C cable, with no charger to plug it into, wasting your time, wondering why one was not included. What is DJI thinking??? The Mavic 3 release was worse, why is DJI backsliding in this department? Also, the DJI charger is around $79 more and you will have to order it (if its not on backorder), wait for it, once you figure out that you will need one, or your batteries will take forever to maybe charge all the way, forever meaning over 24 hours with say a 20 or 30 watt charger... Good move DJI! Way to make that ... Maybe I'm overreacting, it just hasn't hasn't sat well with me and definitely has tainted my experience.
