Buyer beware, DJI goggle have a reboot/reset in mid flight problem

DJI goggles reboot/reset at random moments. Not fun when you go black doing 60mph at a rock out cropping. Not much left of my 7". So far no support or a fix that I have found. This had been going on for a year or more according to the forums. Goggles unusable and dangerous. Mine are only a couple of months old. After spending a grand on air units and options it really sucks and I can't fly.

DJI HD sold me on the hobby.

After starting off with a cheap emaxx kit I knew I wanted an HD image and the DJI Goggles were the ticket. The image quality and clarity are exactly what I was looking for, especially flying in the woods and mountains. I've yet to run out of range flying with my long range Baby Crocodile 4in, and having onboard video recording was perfect for a light weight long range rig. The only downside that I came across (that was a little surprising) is the lack of onboard audio support. I reached out to the know-it-all himself Joshua Bardwell and confirmed that the DJI Goggles don't support audio transmission except through DJI branded drones. Other than that these goggle are what really hooked me into the hobby, I honestly don't know if I would have committed to the $1000+ ... MoreAfter starting off with a cheap emaxx kit I knew I wanted an HD image and the DJI Goggles were the ticket. This has nothing to do with the picture quality but it might with the flight control penetrating through the concrete. The only thing that I didn’t like was the facial fit with the original foam padding, RDQ sells a new and improved foam padding for $15.00 that is a must IMO, and I have a typical German nose, very narrow a little long, so I also had to cut out the nose section of the original padding and attached it to the new padding, I now have absolutely no light leaks. Once I receive the analog adapter for these that I ordered, I’ll have 2 pair of almost new analog goggles for sale. RDQ got these delivered to me in no time and in perfect order as always. Thanks RDQ.

Goggles are primo. Fitment is horrid - "My 600 lb Life" tv show contestants as basis for fitment
5 November 2021

Goggles are magnificent. Really excited HD is actually and finally useable in FPV. I’ve been waiting for the day and wondering why in the heck this wasn’t already possible in 2016 when I started flying. It just seemed like something that should have been possible and out there already back then. With that said the fitment of the goggles is absolute crap. I’m not sure who’s face they tested on but no one I’ve ever met or taken to said the goggles fit. They’re just an odd shape where theirs tons of gaps on the sides and the middle has a pressure point and the nose piece just is not even close to being done properly. I’m not sure how a company like FATSHARK got the fitment spot on for so many people but a massive more lifestyle oriented company like DJI who you’d ... MoreGoggles are magnificent. I’m not sure how a company like FATSHARK got the fitment spot on for so many people but a massive more lifestyle oriented company like DJI who you’d expect to have even better fitment, totally drops the ball. Luckily 3D printers are a thing and/or there are 3rd party options to improve the fitment using shims at the sides and nose piece. Then in addition adding thicker, contoured, and better shaped foam pads to replace the stock pads and sit onto of the 3d printed shims. This makes the goggles useable, but they’re still not great, but definitely worth the compromise. I understand they’re heavier and larger than FATSHARKS so there’s no way they would be as comfortable, but IMO there’s no excuse for DJI to release 2 versions of this goggle with the same fitment issues. Upon some research I found out that DJI actually collaborated with and got feedback for fitment from hippos, elephants, and my 600 lb life tv show contestants.

Good still

This my second pair since the release of the v2. Crispy clear compared to analog. Not good for true long range as it has a 13.1 km cutoff. Very clear video up to that distance though with clear line of sight and patch antennas.I do wish the goggle came with better foam and a better pouch or case and a cover for the eye area. The original strap I have never used ever. Nice that you can use for analog as well with the digi-adapter but it won't record the OSD for later review, The DJI googles with either the Vista or Air unit are excellent as long as you know the limitations of the system. I usually wait a year or so after a new system or google has been released to let the devs work things out and update firmware. The V2 are still worth it compared to other offers ... MoreThis my second pair since the release of the v2. Crispy clear compared to analog. Not good for true long range as it has a 13.1 km cutoff. Great value at the new price
22 August 2022

DJI fpv picture quality is amazing compared to analog and HDZero. These goggles are very nice and have a giant screen(can zoom out to make smaller). People complain about the external looks but I think they are fine. I had to replace the foam for a better fit. There is an analog input. Things to be aware of. No native HDMI out or input capabilities. There is an open source project for getting video out from the USB C

Nice goggles problem you can't use them don't waste your money

These goggles probably are wonderful. I keep reading how great they are, how beautiful they make the flight, how great and wonderful it is. Here's the problem. I have a. DJ Mini Pro 3, and getting signed up is particularly impossible. I'm on my third week of trying to get it signed up. I watched every freaking video trying to sell me stuff. I've been trying to read every form I can. The instructions are not cohesive. They're not clear. Don't waste your money. Otherwise, you'd be sitting like me after six $700 Without a working model, and it's just a good paperweight. So don't buy these goggles. You won't get them hooked unless you pay somebody to hook it up. And I'm almost at that point, do not buy these goggles. Not worth the HYPE

OK, so after hearing all the hype about how great these are.... I am going to say, not even close to what they are saying... First... The distance is only slightly better than analog, or its the stock antennas that come with it...Changing these antennas can be hazardous to your health as they transmit a microwave signal to the air unit.... Putting non sanction after market antennas could cause brain issues??? I had to find that out, because they dont tell you that....Also standard protocol for your RX rather than theirs would need to be flashed before installing... I did not know that...I am a tree flyer and proximity flyer... Digital signals gets lost in trees.. So as many said its great for flying in forests and stuff, that is just not true... although I got a great picture when out in the open, as soon as you go below the canopy it become very digitized making it harder to fly in branches not easier...So the reviews I have seen online are mostly guys that DJI gave the goggles too and said dont say anything bad about them or you wont get anything else... Well I purchased mine as well as a few other of my friends who are finding the same thing I am.... I gave 3 stars because I do get a little more distance from them and in the clearing the picture quality is great... They are not bad goggles... Just not worth all the hype they have been getting..Also all the reviewers say the latency is no big deal, but when you are a proximity flyer.. it makes all the difference in the world.... So to sum it up...Pros - A great picture in the open and good distance - but sketchy in tight places. The cool look and skins they have tor these are cool looking.Cons - The goggles are much larger than fatshark or other goggles, so they are hard to get in your backpack or small case. The picture breaks up not too far from the controller and the only clear spot you see is in the center of the screen..They dont have a fan inside to keep the screens from fogging up.The need to purchase extra foam out of the box, because they do not fit anyone's face, everyone I talked to had to buy the soft foam.. extra cost for something that should be there already for 500 dollar goggles. No battery harness on the side of the strap to hold the battery... and extra long cord so you can have the battery in your pocket???? really? dont put your googles down and still have the battery in your pocket... The strap should have a place to put the battery and a shorter cord for it as well... This should be standard for any goggle... and it is except these??? I did use one of RDQs straps to strap it to the side and it works, and another strap to hold the cord together... that should not be necessary=============================================================================In closing you may find these goggles to be just great, and love them especially if you have regular goggles, I switched my HDO2, and I say the picture is much more bright and punchy in those over the DJI, but if you have regular ones it would be worlds different...Also you may purchase after market antennas and get better penetration but you risk a brain tumor..all I am saying is do the research on the goggles before making the switch, you may find they aren't worth what the reviewers say.I will be doing a full tutorial and review on these goggles on my YouTube channel...

The best all rounder
29 December 2022

Basically of you want the best all round goggle that just works get this. I had the V1's and these fit exactly the same. The aftermarket foam is a must and there are loads of antenna options also available. Currently flying the vista system and the new 03 air units on this and its fantastic, I do hope they sort out the rebinding issue when switching between the two systems soon with firmware. Also be sure to get a comfy strap when buying this goggle if you dont like the DJI stock strap type and shape

my phone is to newi(sh) so I can't fly with these goggles?
