I'll separate this review into a few categories:1. Flying - This seems like the greatest improvement from previous DJI pro-sumer drones. The controls are very precise, yet super smooth and allow for the most cinematic shots. I've flown nearly all of DJI's models over the years, and the Mavic 3 may take the cake for smooth flight.2. Photos - The main camera is pretty good. What most have come to expect from DJI and Hasselblad. The colors are accurate and overall pretty sharp considering the size. The zoom camera seems that it could be better. Even at 2x zoom things seem to get pretty mushy and not very sharp. This only gets worse the further you zoom. Yesterday when I was on a remote job site, I fired up the drone only to have the app inform me that I was logged out of my account and was required to log back in. I was far from cellular access.There is nothing about this practice in any of the descriptions of the product or in the manuals. But after posting the experience in DJIForum, I was informed by a DJI employee that the app automatically logs you out after 3 months for security reasons. Consequently, I lost the best lighting on a 2000-foot cliff behind the property I was hired to shoot.Aside from yesterday's costly disaster, the drone flies great, takes great photos and video, and has proved very useful.

So far, i am impressed, its a solid drone, with a lot to offer. If you hop onto You Tube for 30 seconds you can find hundreds of reviews that detail everything in a lot of detail, so I am just gonna skip all that jazz and give my impressions for what I care about as a working professional, and that is the image.The Good* pro res HQ, its a solid codec with a ton of flexibility, this is the real codec we have been waiting for!* a much cleaner image then the 2 pro, the blacks on the 2 pro tended to get either noisy in post or they got muddy, you couldn't pull much detail out of them, but the 3 fixes that, the dark parts of the image are completely gradable and the sensor is a lot less noisy. Not a huge deal, but over all, disappointing to see.Again, the drone flies like a dream, the batteries are awesome, its powerful, very smooth, over all super good, that being said, I honestly am hoping to be back here in a few months with a resounding update to my review with a 5 star rating, but at a full 5 grand for this drone, the image should not be over sharpened the way it is. The number one thing with a drone targeted at pros is image, and right now it needs a tiny, itty bitty little bit of work to make it great, crossing my fingers its an easy fix that DJI has coming soon :-)
The Mavic 3 appears to offer many of the features of the Phantom 4 Pro v2, albeit in a smaller andlighter form factor, and my first impression of the Mavic 3 was positive. The Mavic 3 appears to be well made and easy to use. I was able to update the firmware on both the controller and the drone using DJI Assist 2 on my PC. The bundled battery charger is small however, so the optional charger and charging bay would be needed if you plan on maintaining multiple batteries. It is also important to pay attention to the DJI supported iPhone/iPad list before buying the Mavic 3. You may find you need to upgrade your cell phone if you plan on using the standard controller. I tried to use the DJI Go 4 App on my iPhone SE Gen 2 and was not able to connect to the Mavic 3. This was a show stopper for me, but I expect not for most operators. DJI will certainly release their SDK in the future, but it may be some time before that happens. Overall, the Mavic 3 is an impressive drone and it should provide a good aerial photography platform given the camera specs. However unlike the P4P Pro, it is still very much a work-in-progress. If you have the bank, the Cine Package with the upgraded controller may be the way to go. Have fun and Fly Safe.
We bought this to cover a live feed for a kayaking competition. We'll continue to use it as part of our fleet for projects that require aerial images and video. Battery life is phenomenal! There was another crew with an Inspire 2 (which we normally would have flown) doing event footage. They went through 3 sets of batteries for every one of ours!Image quality is also excellent. It was so nice being able to hook up a mini HDMI to the controller to get a clean HDMI feed for the broadcast. (Make sure you get a mini HDMI to HDMI adapter!)The APAS system is a little hard to get used to! It really will just fly around stuff on its own which can be unnerving if you've ever crashed another drone. With a $1000 markup from the Mavic 2 Pro, DJI seems to be pricing this drone as a truly 'Pro' photographic tool. However, after a couple weeks of using it, I can say it's just not there. When compared to the Mavic 2 Pro, it features much better battery life, and a significantly cleaner image in low light, and it's slightly more quiet. But the improvements end there. It's slightly larger, requiring more space in the bag/case. The remote is the same 'toy' remote that ships with the entry level Mavic Mini, and has no information display like the Mavic 2 Pro has. Worse of all, it uses the same slimmed down app that the Mavic Mini uses, DJI 'Fly'. This is just an overpriced toy, as shown in how DJI ships it with a cheap remote and an underpowered app.

I like the 24mm focal length on the Mavic 3, although the 4:3 aspect for stills is a little weird since most images nowadays are 2:3 so you do have to think about that while framing. But overall I really enjoy flying this drone.

The flight performance of the Mavic 3 series is significant. The simplification, reorganization, control of Intelligent Flight Modes is well done. Particularly the Active Track 5. Reading and study of the 81 page User's Manual is a MUST. This is a complex and capable aircraft.The improved Hasselbad camera is also impressive. The larger main sensor and the fixed focal length Zoom/Explorer second camera provide welcome image and video capture creativity. The camera system is still biased towards Video.
