I was pleasantly surprised by the Ancestry DNA kit results! The findings were completely different from my expectations, unveiling a fascinating and unexpected journey through my heritage. The kit not only provided insightful details about my ancestry but also led me to discover a treasure trove of family pictures and connect with relatives I didn't even know existed. The experience was eye-opening and added a whole new dimension to my understanding of roots and family history. Highly recommended for anyone curious about their genetic story!

I got this as a gift for my son who has been wanting to build his own family tree without driving us insane with questions we don't have answers to about our ancestors. It's easy tot take - simply fill the tube with saliva, create your account and drop the package in the mail. Postage is already paid and the box is included. Then wait for the results! After taking this ancestry dna test myself two years ago, I recently got a new match -- a half sister! So be ready for surprises if you don't know your full family history.

The kit itself was extremely easy and straightforward to follow. They informed me during every step of their process so I knew when to expect our DNA results. They also gave a geographical analysis to pinpoint where you come from. HOWEVER; to me their site was extremely difficult to navigate and it is plagued with a bullying marketing technique for you to up buy other expensive services before you're throughly informed. How do you ask? You are encouraged to buy a multi tier club membership to access your family information. DO NOT BUY ON TARGET- WILL NOT BE SURPRISE
20 July 2024

Target and/or AncestryDNA should disclose that it is sent in a clear wrap (the item shows what it is and a shippling label slapped on top of it). If you want it to be a surprise, buy this same item for the same price on Amazon because they let you choose for it to be sent in an Amazon box so the surprise isn't hidden. ADDITIONALLY, I am not sure if the quality is good since there was no protection to the item and it was very hot. Now we have to wait to see if the test processes correctly or not.

Definitely the best for genealogy
22 October 2023

If you’re doing doing genealogy Ancestry DNA kit is the best. 1) the thrulines are extremely helpful. 2) when on sale these test are reasonably priced. 3) the ethnicity estimates are fairly accurate (when you understand what ethnicity estimates are). 4) The interface is extremely easy to use.The ancestry’s paywall is misunderstood by people. When read see some reviews of these test they complain about the paywall. You can build your tree 100% for free but records on ancestry need a subscription. It’s a company it has a right to make money. But you can find genealogy info everywhere then add it to your tree. It’s a company it has a right to make money. But you can find genealogy info everywhere then add it to your tree. (however they should include how your results divide between your parents for free with your test result like they did when it was in beta but unfortunately they don’t anymore). It would be fantastic if they included more tools like a good dna painter, etc. I would also love it if they included haplogroups. Plus I would like it if ancestry would give us our non whole percentages like England 51.23 % instead of England 51%. Ancestry doesn’t allow non whole percentages like 0.5 %. I understand why they did that though people got way to excited over these least confidence results which might be genetic noice or misreads, but it might be helpful if you actually build your tree. But overall I 100% recommend ancestry dna test. If at all possible test the oldest people in your family your parents, grandparents, great grandparents, aunts/uncles, they might have ethnicities that didn’t get passed down to you. Plus your siblings will get different results than you too, so don’t be surprised if (as an example) you get 25% England but your Sister gets 19% . Also unlike some DNA companies Ancestry updates their results once or twice a year the big update usually occurs around September.

Fun But Not Factual
29 April 2022

This was very interesting. I come from a home where I didn’t really know where WE came from on one side of my family. They also weren’t willing to help me when asked so I took this Ancestry test. It’s nice to know or get a general idea where I come from. Although since I took the test my ethnicity results have changed by up to 10%. Which doesn’t give me the feeling that this result is in anyway factual or accurate. I got the one that included traits thinking I would get some valuable information. Traits include your eye color, hair type, skin color and even your ear wax texture. Half of my traits Ancestry gave me were wrong anyway. All of which these traits you should already know. Get the original kit and skip the traits. Even then, I’ll prob get another test from ... MoreThis was very interesting. I FOUND MY FAMILY ON MY FATHER'S SIDE
31 December 2023

I bought this DNA test as a gift to confirm who my Dad was. I had already discovered my relatives from an earlier Ancestry DNA test U had taken, but I needed to narrow it down to who my Dad was in that family. The person who used the test confirmed she is my 1st cousin. That left only one possible choice for who my Dad was. Now I have a family reunion pkanned for March of 2024!Thanks Walmart for partnering with Ancestry DNA!!!

Interesting results, but pretty cool!
31 December 2023

The test is super easy to do. It comes with a prepaid shipping box for your sample. AncestryDNA kept me updated by email on where my sample was in the process once it was received.12/15/23 sample received.12/18/23 sample in process.12/19/23 DNA being extracted(this took the longest).12/28/23 DNA being analyzed.12/30/23 my results were in.According to my results I have 49,000 distant relatives on Ancestry. My Uncle and a 1st cousin were at the top on my matches being a 25% and a 12% match to me. Lots of 2nd, 3rd and 4th cousins appeared and it’s broken down by which parents side they’re from. Honestly it’s kinda cool to see.

So Much Fun and Discovery for All

Overall have purchased 12, and will likely be going for more as soon as I can. It’s well worth it. It is very interesting to see what ethnicities people have. It is important to understand that ethnicities and DNA are randomly passed. You might not inherit what you thought you would from your parents and it’s completely possible that they don’t even know the full extent. For example, one of the tests we did was for a woman who believed she was German and Scottish. Surprise, she was Polish, Scottish, Irish, and Norwegian. People can’t get mad that their DNA that was passed down over generations doesn’t match up what they are expecting. It is about where they were, not where they ended up. My other friend got a new dad and five siblings. Another solved a hundred year ... MoreOverall have purchased 12, and will likely be going for more as soon as I can. It’s well worth it. And, no, your great great grandmother wasn’t a Cherokee Princess. They didn’t have princesses.

Waste of money

### Disappointed with Ancestry DNA I recently tried Ancestry DNA. While the process was smooth and easy, the results were disappointing. The information was vague and lacked detail, offering little benefit or new insights into my heritage. Overall, despite the seamless process, the lack of detailed results made it a letdown.
