The Hunter or the Hunted: A Sci-Fi Nightmare World War Terminus devastated the Earth. Among the ruins, bounty hunter Rick Deckard hunts renegade replicants. When not “retiring” them, he dreams of owning a live animal, a symbol of status in a world with little animal life. Rick gets his chance: to eliminate six Nexus-6 targets for a massive reward. But Deckard’s world is never simple. His assignment spirals into a nightmare of subterfuge, deceit, and the looming threat of death, turning the hunter into the hunted.

While I would prefer if these books were published in separate books I can’t say anything bad about the quality of this book. I knew it was both books in one and they are two great stories to put together.

Wow! The sci-fi classics are presented in an incredible, inspiring production. The stories are just phenomenal and the illustrations by the two illustrators are really stunning. I highly recommend this edition and feel like it is priced very well considering the quality. The paper is white and slightly glossy but not too bad at all. I do wish I had an introduction but that’s OK. It will never leave my shelf.

I already knew these novels but I wanted to have them in such a beautiful edition to be displayed on the shelves. The quality of paper and text is very high and the peculiarity to have 2 novels in one book upside down each other is an added value, along with the original illustrations.
This is essentially 2 books in one. I have read Do Androids, and have not yet started on A scanner. I loved the illustrations which complemented the text. The font was readable and the spacing generous
This tête-bêche presentation is unlike anything I’ve had the pleasure of reading. The illustrations are very confronting, almost grimy and get under your skin, a perfect compliment to the stories. At first I was disappointed the slipcase was plain but I now think this was an intentional design choice, acting like a scramble suit from A Scanner Darkly, hiding what’s inside. I’m very happy with this book.
This book is beautifully bound, printed, and illustrated. At first, the price put me off, but there are actually two books, printed in the style of PKD's first PB science fiction works (this edition is, obviously, a beautiful hardcover). The choice is one book, whose plot was good enough that Ridley Scott was inspired to film it, while the second received French accolades (and was also filmed). Androids, especially, hold up extremely well, unlike some 1950s science fiction works. The art work is evocative of Scott's setting, while still remaining faithful to the actual text. The art work in Scanner Darkly is dissociative, as is the plot itself.
Once again I find myself reading 'Do androids dream of electric sheep' and just like last time I'm amazed and stunned by the visionary and imaginative mind of the legendary sci-fi writer, Philip K. Dick. In a nearby future, post World War Terminus, androids from off world colonies have become a iminent problem for earth and its remaining inhabitants. Also, with the lack off life, animals have become the ultimate status symbol of wealth and well-being. In the endeavour to be able to distinguish human from synthetics a special departement is developed to search and "retire" - erase, androids. Also, with the lack off life, animals have become the ultimate status symbol of wealth and well-being. In the endeavour to be able to distinguish human from synthetics a special departement is developed to search and "retire" - erase, androids. As the story develops, Rick Deckard, a well-experienced bounty hunter, is ordered to "retire" 6 androids, in one day. To be able to afford a live animal, Deckard accepts the mission that might well be his last. But in a world where life is the ultimate symbol, this suicide mission is easily accepted for a man without empathy to androids. By the brilliant mind of Philip K. Dick, a whole new world of sci-fi is presented in this novel. The story of Deckard and his life is portrayed in a way that is inexplicably great beyond any mind, except the one of Dick. This novel suprises me every time I read it and it will continue to surprise future readers.
My edition arrived damaged but this I was swiftly resolved in the best possible so I will naturally review this item sans the damage my copy sadly suffered. The production quality is of the highest level at this price point and the illustrations are simply beautiful.
I love this edition, although I'm more partial to 'A Scanner Darkly'. The noir approach to the illustrations in 'Do Androids Dream' is more reflective of the film than the novel. That is disappointing editorial choice for me (and the reason for 4 stars not five). Having a high end 'flip book' is a marvelous nod to the pulp sci fi paperbacks that published two novels together. The novels make an interesting pairing representing two different periods of PKD's writing. Hopefully FS will venture away from the novels made into films or cable series and publish PKD's most famous and difficult works. They made a start with UBIK. It's a trend fandom wants to see continued.
