This is by far my favorite tequila. It's smooth when you take shots. I love it in mixed drinks as well. I never get hangovers from it. It's kind of expensive but well worth it. I would definitely recommend this tequila.

After my hardcore party years, I started to notice what liquors work with me and which ones don't. I'm a white tequila girl. Patron gets all the hype but I prefer Don Julio hands down. Let's be honest, no one drinks because they enjoy the taste of hard liquor straight. (It's all about the buzz) I really enjoy Don Julio because it mixes easy with everything I've tried thus far.(It doesn't add a weird aftertaste like patron) It's very smooth considering it's a top shelf tequila(Opposite of 1800) I Love it because you don't have to guzzle the whole bottle for a group to have a good time.(Not pissy drunk lol) Don Julio is a strong drink that can sneak up on you if you aren't a seasoned drinker, so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone less than a weekend drinker. Okay, so I'm new to tequilas. I enjoy Margaritas and Palomas, so I began to experiment with different blanco tequilas and even some Reposado and Anejo for the Margaritas. As I write this, I have several bottles open and ready for comparison with Don Julio Blanco: Avion Silver, Patron Silver, Dos Armadillos, Siete Leguas, Herradura Silver, Casamigos and Espolon Blanco. Online reviews of DJ say something about "nose", "palate" and "finish"...terms of art with descriptions of pepper, menthol, fruit and agave. In my taste comparisons here's what I came up with: DJ has a hint of medicinal alcohol along with stronger agave aroma. I'm drinking tequila in mixed drinks, not sipping, so the aroma on the nose is irrelevant to me. Suffice it to say, none of the tequilas had a ... MoreOkay, so I'm new to tequilas. I'm drinking tequila in mixed drinks, not sipping, so the aroma on the nose is irrelevant to me. Suffice it to say, none of the tequilas had a disagreeable aroma. Some were "fruit-ier" than others, some had stronger alcohol aroma (Espolon), but all were okay. Tasting each, the most agave forward, to me, were the Avion Silver, Patron Silver and Dos Armadillos. In a Margarita, the sweetest was Cosamigos by a little bit but the Espolon was almost identical! And cost $20 dollars less. Forget you, George Clooney. Admittedly, the Patron Silver tasted very smooth in a Margarita, but the Don Julio also extremely smooth. I think Patron's rep might get in the way, since my tasting group all had raves about Don Julio in a blind taste test of margaritas. So, the bottom line is that Don Julio stands with the rest of the upper crust of blanco tequilas in making an excellent margarita...I prefer the DJ blanco to the DJ reposado that I tried side-by-side in margaritas as well. IMHO you cannot go wrong with DJ Blanco..is it "the best"? No such thing exists. And price doesn't always predict..I'm looking at you Casamigos. Espolon has your number!
Excellent value, especially considering the Tipxy price. Tequila that is incredibly smooth and has a distinct sharp flavor. You can't go wrong with this tequila even though it isn't as tasty as some others. utterly destroys several more costly tequilas. There's a lot of buzz about Patron around here, but it's not on the same level as other games.
I only read reviews of alcohol that address its healthiness and whether it causes headaches or hangovers. I've discovered that this beverage works the best. You don't experience any headaches after it, and the next morning it's as if nothing had occurred. I only seek for alcohol that is transparent and made entirely of agave. None extra.
I vouch that I won't ever consume more tequila! I must have been under a rock if I hadn't heard of Don Julio before, but good Lord, this is the nicest darn thing I've ever drink. It tastes so darn good chilled! The finest margarita ever! Wow! I also never have a hangover. Now I'm going to have a bottle in my cabinet at all times! My drink of choice can occasionally be better than my husband's!
I'm new to drinking tequila, so... I started experimenting with various blanco tequilas, including some Reposado and Anejo for the Margaritas, because I like making them and Palomas. Reviews of DJ found online include terminology like "nose," "palate," and "finish" to describe flavors like fruit, agave, pepper, and menthol. Let's just say that none of the tequilas had an unpleasant fragrance. All were fine, however some were "fruitier" than others and some (Espolon) had greater alcohol aroma. After tasting each, I found the Avion Silver, Patron Silver, and Dos Armadillos to be the most agave-forward. Cosamigos had a slight edge over Espolon in terms of sweetness in a margarita, but they were nearly comparable! and were $20 cheaper. George Clooney, forget about you. Undoubtedly, the Don Julio tasted incredibly smooth in a Margarita, but the Patron Silver did too. Since everyone in my tasting group raved about Don Julio in a blind margarita taste test, I worry that Patron's reputation would get in the way. The conclusion is that Don Julio is comparable to the others. The main result is that Don Julio is among the best blanco tequilas for producing fantastic margaritas. I also prefer the DJ blanco over the DJ reposado, which I also tried side by side. Is DJ Blanco "the best"? In my opinion, you cannot go wrong with him. There is no such thing. And pricing isn't necessarily a reliable indicator—Casamigos, I'm looking at you. Espolon has your phone number.
Since visiting Puerto Vallarta several years ago, I have been drinking tequila in this manner. My Spanish-American acquaintances have told me that the ideal "after burn" for tequila should be present. Compared to that, this is smoother. Although there is a lot of the intense tequila flavor, it is light for tequila. I don't use it for margaritas; I prefer to use cheaper ingredients. I keep it on hand for savoring and drinking with people who appreciate that tequila is more than just salt and lemon and gulp.
