Don Julio Reposado Tequila 700ml

If you like tequila you know reposado, añejo and Blanco are the usuals. I'm not a huge fan of añejo but reposado and blancos usually are good. I am a fan of Don Julios reposado too. Don Julio in general is not a very affordable tequila if you are on a budget but sometimes you can find good sales. This tequila in particular has a really rich flavor and smooth finish. Again I usually mix my tequila with squirt or chase it with a lime. This one is a hit and if your scared of dark liquors due to hangovers this one has never given me one!

Don Julio Reposado is aged for 8 months, which is longer than the standard aging process. It has an amber color with a rich smooth silky finish. This is a top shelf tequila in every since of the term. It does come with a hefty price tag, but it’s so worth it. We normally buy the large bottle but there has been distribution problems, so grab whatever you can get when it’s in stock. Also, this will elevate your margaritas to new levels.

Better for half the price

Additives. Additives. Might make a good cologne but not a good tequila. Teremana is the closest flavor profile (vanilla, oak, pepper) but MUCH much better, more authentic (you can taste the cooked agave) and NO additives. Teremana is 35% cheaper & 2 times better. El Padrino is way better than this and half the price. If you’re under $100 budget, go with El Padrino or Teremana Añejo. You’ll be glad you did.

Consistently Top-Notch

Although Don Julio Aejo may not be the best tequila I have ever tried, I can't think of another that I have consistently enjoyed better. Is it expensive? Depending on your budget, I suppose, but if I'm purchasing tequila for sipping, I want the best distillation I can find that is consistently good, and this is it - hands down. It has a moderate, traditional tequila scent, a delicious flavor, and a smooth, smooth (have I mentioned smooth?) finish. Sure, you might get "better" if you spend a million dollars and a nickel on a speciality bottle of anything aged in golden fleece, but in my opinion, DJA is the "go to" option that never lets you down.

Effortlessly Smooth

Recently, I've been experimenting with reposados in search of a fantastic sipping tequila to drink at night. I loved the Hornitos and Herradura was fantastic, but I believe I've found my match. Buttery smooth, but with just enough kick to make you aware of it. Worth every penny of the increased cost. Delicious!

Fantastic for the price range

One of the top tequilas available for less than $90. Naturally very smooth and made entirely of agave. Not the same as the more premium tequilas that resemble cognac, but that's not what it's supposed to be. It's one of the few tequilas that can truly be sipped because of this. I like anejo tequilas for sipping and silver tequilas for margaritas or tequila "martinis". If you just have room for one bottle and want to do both, a reposado is a suitable compromise. can, of course, be chilled for shots as well.

It's OK

I prefer no-additive Tequilas for philosophical reasons, but I decided to try this one anyway because it is so popular. I don't know if there ARE additives or what they might be, but Don Julio isn't KNOWN to be additive free. The agave is, however, cooked in stone/brick ovens, which I like. To me this feels like water on the tongue at the very first. You might find that impressive because it's tequila, but I was expecting more flavor. The most prominent note is pepper throughout. The finish is unremarkable and a little bitter. The agave is barely there, almost lost. My closest comparison is Volans Reposado, except that it has more agave flavor and a better finish.

Most Excellent Reposado Available

While working at a Mexican restaurant, I had my first taste of Don Julio Reposado, which was presented in a premium margarita. A few years passed and I went to an all inclusive resort in Cancun and drank the entire bottle in a weekend. It had plenty of sweet agave flavors and some oak notes, and it was quite smooth for sipping. I'm a huge advocate of drinking fine liquor. Don Julio is a sure thing.

My preferred tequila in general

Don Julio is my choice if I can't compromise on price. El Espolon reposado is what I choose for margaritas and for less money. Don Julio tastes fantastic on the rocks, combined in margaritas, with Coke, etc. But I really believe that at $90 or more a bottle, you need to be sipping this straight. I've had tequila that was more costly, but I don't believe anything is a greater value than the Don.
