Easy read, very many examples making me reflect on my behaviors now and in the past in regards to dopamine. I have also made changes to improve my health going forward with these new insights on what dopamine does for our brains.

A fantastic book, you'll probably find yourself and your pleasure seeking habits in some of the case studies and examples presented in this well written book, I certainly did.It certainly helped me understand my brain and how it works when it comes to my addictions and justifications of these habits.

A Fantastic Read!

An excellent read for anybody struggling with addicition
25 December 2023

As a recovering addict I found this book to be exceptionally insightful on the processes of addiction and the path towards recovery and leading a better life. Ignore the hyper sensitive negative review. Addicition is not a sterile or clean world. You will read stories of other people who have likely suffered much worse than you and still made it out alive.

Depressing, disappointing read
1 July 2023

I was excited to read this book based on the title and other reviews and usually love this type of book. But I must say I was very disappointed and found the book to be hard to read (in the sense that it made me feel bad, not the writing) and depressing. The first story about a client that she had (and kept returning to throughout the book) was way too much!! The details she provided about his issues were things I would never want to know and just way too graphic and I hate that my brain now has that info in it. I tried to stay curious and wonder why she included these graphic details and I just could not figure out why. Like when a movie has gratuitous nudity for no reason really, that is what this felt like. I gleaned no info really about "how to find balance" as ... MoreI was excited to read this book based on the title and other reviews and usually love this type of book. A very good book, what surprised me was that it delved deeply into the correlation between addiction and dopamine release.

One of the best books Ive ever read in my Life. Loved it! Although the book itself has writing inside of it. And notes that had been taken on the page.

This book was a revelation. Illustrates how we are slaves to the biochemistry of addiction. Addiction as the overarching driver & controller of particularly the developed world. Really eye-opening & quite disturbing. Relatable and very readable. It will make you question everything!
