Dr. Brown's Wide Neck Options+ Newborn Feeding Set

These were not the bottles I had originally chosen for baby, but after needing to switch to primarily bottle feeding, these were a great option for her. She's a fast drinker even with the slow flow nipples and does not like to be burped. Once we switched to these, she was a much happier and much less gassy baby. Now that her feeding has matured some, we've moved away from these. The vent system does a great job, but now that we don't need to use it, it's just extra parts to clean. The Options+ bottles are supposed to be able to be used without the venting system, but we had the worst luck, either having the nipple collapse when she tried to eat, or leaking everywhere. Our son was having some gas issues and these bottles were recommended to us as something that may help. I read reviews before ordering and noticed quite a few that mentioned leaking issues. I was a bit hesitant but desperate, so I ordered anyways. We encountered leaking issues a few times, but it was because we put the bottles together incorrectly. After taking them apart and fixing the issues, it was all smooth sailing. Our son did seem to feel better after we started using these bottles, I’m sure it was a combination of tricks that made it work, but I’m happy we tried them, even if there are a lot of parts to wash. Amazing bottles

These Dr. Brown's bottles are the best bottles I have ever used. I had an issue with one out of 5 I bought and they were very quick to assist me in fixing the issue. The nipple from the Options wide neck bottle we got has a split in it so it kept leaking formula everywhere. We were all confused how it was happening until I went to clean the nipple a second time and felt my finger literally go through it. I usually use a bottle brush so I didn't notice the first time. It was a pretty big split too but when he wasn't using the nipple it looked fine. They sent us a brand new nipple quickly and his new bottle is now perfect. We used a different brand bottle with him and could immediately tell a huge difference in the amount of gas he produced. His burps were bigger and he fussed a lot more because all that gas made him very uncomfortable. We went back to Dr. Brown's bottles and instantly could see the difference. He still has to be burped but they are way less violent and painful for him. It's just expected for a baby to get gassy but why make them get it worse than they need to? I recommend these bottles to every mother I know!! I want to make sure to spread the word about anything that helps make babies more comfortable and happy and for feeding this bottle is the best. I will never use another brand again. No I do not work for Dr. Brown's and this was not a sponsored review. I just really feel this is the best bottle for a healthier happier baby.

Baby took the bottles easily BUT….

No issues with my baby taking the bottle. Went with these because every single doctor recommended them. I use them without the vent system. I first used the glass wide neck, then polypropylene wide neck because my carpal tunnel couldn’t handle the weight. However, I always have to be super careful about screwing the lids on super tightly so they don’t randomly leak. But the biggest negative issue was that almost half of the nipples become covered in a cloudy, slightly sticky and slimy film within a day of washing them — the outside, not the inside. Over half are clear but the rest are not. I always wash immediately, I always scrub with a brush, and sanitize them various ways (boiling & dishwasher) after rinsing, scrubbing with hot soapy water and the cloudy film ... MoreNo issues with my baby taking the bottle. At this point, I’ve thrown away 2 nipples so far and have 4 more just sitting on my counter (after washing/scrubbing/sanitizing multiple times to see and test how it’ll go away.. which it doesn't), which was fine at first because the set I bought came with so many, but now it’s a frustrating and gross issue. Why?! :(

Baby’s preference

My baby is exlucisvely bottle fed with breastmilk with mild reflux and he loves these bottles! The narrow bottles slightly irritated his reflux so switching to these have been such a great move. Please do note that these bottles are SO much easier to clean than the narrow ones. They have a lot of pieces and can be a pain to clean but the anti-colic vent is extremely worth it. I love how versatile Dr Browns bottles are and the options for customizing for your baby's needs. I have added the silicone handles to this bottle as my baby is reaching a stage where he likes to hold his own bottle and feed himself at 7 months. Bottles are trial and error but the Dr Brown wide neck is definitely worth a try if you're contemplating on purchasing!

Buying more so I can wash a huge batch at once

Fantastic bottles! Haven’t had any issues with leaks, but we haven’t had leaks with any other bottles either unless using mismatched nipples or screwing them on too tight. The straws and rubber piece at the top of the straw add a step to washing. I don’t know for sure what colic is, but we get much less spit up if we don’t let her chug like it’s her first meal in a week, taper off the milk every couple of gulps, and maybe that’s why these work so great? The Phillips bottles seem to work fine too, they might be more burpy. At 8 weeks old, I like that these are 8oz (I’m guessing she’ll be eating that much at some point anyway?) because she might drink 3.5oz, and wake up in half an hour wanting another ounce. When that happens, the 4oz bottles make that last half ounce ... MoreFantastic bottles! My wife is a goddess and she deserves a full night of sleep every single night. Gotta keep our little angel happy and silent, if these bottles mean less spit up or has pain or not scrambling for half an ounce of milk, these are worth their weight I’m gold. Even if we did have leak issues, it’s nothing a little duct tape can’t fix at 3am! Oh right and the leak thing. I bought these at one week old because apparently older kids eat from bigger nipple holes. Bought these and the Phillips set because anti-colic has to be better than colic right? So both sets are at 7 weeks of use without leaks.

Does not leak when used correctly, love these bottles.

Ever since we switched to these bottles our son has been less gassy/not gassy. Which means he’s less fussy. He also doesn’t spit up if at all with these bottles. The leak (see what I did there). You must take the vent system out of the bottle before warming, using a bottle warmer, or shaking up formula. I know it’s an extra step (especially in the middle of the night) but the pressure from heat or shaking is what causes the leaks. It says so in the Dr. Brown’s instructions which I know most like me probably do not read the instructions for a bottle because a bottle is pretty self explanatory right? Not the case, every bottle system is different especially with the anti colic bottles with their different parts and such. Hopefully this helps. We love these bottles.

Happy baby - happy mum

I wanted to start introducing a bottle to my second daughter who has been mainly breast fed so far. Unlike with other bottles we have tried, with breast feeding style teats, she accepted the Dr Brown's Natural Flow Options+ bottles really well and without any fuss at all - happy baby.I found these bottles very user friendly and I really liked that the bottles are designed to grow with baby. The measurements are really clearly labelled, much clearer than with other bottles I have used and I suspect are more accurate as well. Starting at 30ml/1oz going through to 270ml/9oz means the bottle can be used throughout the bottle feeding journey. I also found the bottles with their wide necks much easier to clean than others. My daughter doesn't suffer from colic but didn't have any wind when we used these bottles and unlike other bottles they never leaked. I especially liked the cap to seal the bottles if needed. I would happily recommend these bottles - happy mum.

Tall and sturdy bottles

I'm pleased with these bottles and would recommend them. I had been looking for anti-colic bottles as my child has been suffering from colic and reflux for quite a while. During this time I've tried a couple of brands, and so far I've been happy with these bottles from Dr Brown. Initially I was surprised with how big the bottles are (they really can hold a lot of liquid) so I didn't switch my child to these immediately as we only needed little bottles. But once they reached three months and needed bigger bottles I switched to these. They are tall bottles and the height meant I had to stack them differently in our UV steriliser, but it's worth trying to fit them in as I really like the fact that the lid and top are very sturdy. The teat supplied is for 0+ months and while the opening is the same size as other brands, I found the overall teat shape itself is a bit smaller. Overall the flow was controlled and my child drank slower and in a more controlled way using these bottles.

First, I have a 5 weeks old baby boy. We been using Dr. Brown bottles because we have a good of amount from the samples giveaway. Some from buybuyBack.We started with (5) of Dr. Brown's 4 oz Options+, 90% of times, its guarantee to have leak. No matter its breast milk or formula, room temperature, warm and cold. I have gotten leaks in the beginning, middle and/or end of feeding. It will leak. I did tons reading about the bottle and user errors. In term of preparing and feeding, I have done everything by the book. I even gave the product the benefit of the doubt, I went out to buy (12) 8oz bottles to keep trying since we are preparing for daycare. I tired 3 of the 12..... The last thing you want is to have a feeding bottle to leak while in the beginning, middle and/or end of your baby feeding, Imagine, you see your baby bib completely damped and trying cleaning and wipe down the leak, opening and closing the bottle to fix whatever is causing the leak, your baby will fuzzy and crying for their milk,I even thought of upgrading the nipple to level 2. There was some research, that baby might be sucking too hard that is building too high of the pressure which would cause the leak. The problem is as mention earlier, my baby is only 5 weeks old. As per guidance as per Dr. Brown website level 2 is for 3+ months and I been having this leak issues we started bottle feeding him at week 1.To go even further, I have contacted Dr. Brown customer services and addressed everything as I mention above. Their SOLUTION was to send me 2 new Dr. Browns bottles to try out and advise feeding with at least a slight angle. which I been doing that. Again doesn't work, it still leaks.I guess they didn't understand I still have (9) bottles of 8oz still unopened. If I wanted more bottles, I would have bought them already instead of waiting for their new bottles. Looking for a solution not more bottles.
