Sunscreen Review: A sample from this year's (2023) Sephora Sun Safety Kit. Very lightweight on the skin and has the fluidity of light lotion, maybe slightly more fluid. Has a white, slight cream-ish color and absorbs very well on the face, neck, chest, arms and legs. Didn't have to shake before squeezing. No scent in this sunscreen and it felt moisturizing too. I really enjoyed the applicator tip from where the products cones out. It isn't a regular flat top with a hole, it's a pointy applicator. I was able to nicely squeeze a line down my legs before rubbing it in. No negative skin reactions. No color-cast, has an invisible finish. I liked this one.

A mineral sunscreen that is black girl friendly! Yay! I just recently bought this sunscreen and I love it too. I have both of Dr. Dennis Gross sunscreens and I love them both. NO WHITE CAST! The biggest difference I can tell between the two sunscreens is the other one is really hydrating, a little too hydrating for me in the summer as I have oily skin but this sunscreen is perfect. It leaves my skin soft with a light dew finish. I'll definitely be buying the family size on their website. I don't know what they did with the formula but before, I did try this brand when it was in the white bottle and it left a white cast on me but the new formulations for both sunscreens does not leave a case. So far I love everything he has to offer.

This spf is interesting! Since moving to some dry areas, my skin cannot tolerate this sunscreen as much anymore (also currently treating acne so my skin is on the sensitive side bc of actives). I like how the formula blends into the skin easily and doesn’t feel oily. But at the same time when I’m in dry climates I have to pair this with an oil or rich moisturizer or it will dry my skin out while leaving this film of zinc on my skin that kind of appears greasy if that makes sense. I found it a bit sensitizing but that could possibly have been because I introduced it back into my routine when my skin was on the sensitive side / using retinol and repairing my barrier. Overall I think I will purchase again and try when I’m in a more humid environment! Love that it’s oil ... MoreThis spf is interesting! I would love to try the other DDG physical spf but my skin is quite sensitive to essential oils.

I'm 50 years old and never wore sunscreen because I was allergic to it and all the zinc oxide sunscreen that I could use made my face greasier and had a white cast. I've been researching for a physical sunscreen for a while and didn't care about the price as long as it worked and looked good on my skin. I bought Kate Somerville last week and I love it. It has a matte finish. Then I heard lots of good things about Dr. Dennis Gross so I decided to try it. Let me tell you...I LOVE IT! Kate and Dr. Dennis are a tie. I think Kate would be great for the summer since it has a matte finish and Dr. Dennis would be great for the winter or if you want a dewy finish because it feels moisturizing. Usually only liquid form of physical sunscreen is the only sunscreen I can ... MoreI'm 50 years old and never wore sunscreen because I was allergic to it and all the zinc oxide sunscreen that I could use made my face greasier and had a white cast. I think Kate would be great for the summer since it has a matte finish and Dr. Dennis would be great for the winter or if you want a dewy finish because it feels moisturizing. Usually only liquid form of physical sunscreen is the only sunscreen I can actually work into my skin and not have a white cast. This is a light lotion feel, is the best way i can describe it. I love it! I am an African American female and I have oily skin and sensitive to EVERYTHING! Dr. Dennis Gross, now I need you to make a physical sunscreen setting spray for when I wear makeup. That is my next dilema :(. I know people complain about the price but you get what you pay for. There are 2 other drugstore that I do use when I workout because I don't want to use my good stuff lol. Can't go wrong with 100% physical sunscreen with 18% zinc oxide that protects from UVA/UVB, SPF 50, PA++++ AND no white cast. Great job! Send me some samples please:)
Bought this a couple months ago to try out as I was having problems with a white cast with Coola's facial sunscreen and heard some rumors that Supergoop's unseen sunscreen wasn't really reefsafe.I have three complaints about this product.1) There is definitely a white cast to it, which is obvious as the area around my eyes looks noticeably darker than the rest of my skin after application. I'm quite fair-skinned with lots of freckles and my freckles look visibly lighter after applying this. You might avoid this problem with a very light application but then you're probably not getting the full protection you want.2) It pills with my skincare regimen even when waiting 5-10 minutes after application of my last product before application. The pilling is so bad that it looks like my skin is peeling. If I wait 30+ minutes after applying my azelaic acid this seems to be less of an issue, but my morning routine doesn't allow me to apply a product, set a timer, and wait thirty minutes.3) My age spots and freckles actually DARKENED while using this product, even though I was reapplying it religiously. I had much better results with COOLA and Supergoop preventing these darkening during the summer months in the south than I did with this product in late winter/early spring.
I prefer this mineral sunscreen over many others for the following reasons:1. I have very sensitive eyes and this DOES NOT sting my eyes.2. It stays put yet doesn't settle into my lines nor does it make my skin feel dry or oily.3. It is cruelty free. Why should a bunny rabbit be hurt so I can look good???4. It doesn't pill under other products.5. On some skin, it might leave a slight white cast but I eliminate this problem by mixing with a touch of my foundation.6. It does not contain ingredients that can be sensitizing to skin and cause irritation and/or inflammation. I was surprised how some other seemingly great products add things like orange peel extract (can be irritating to sensitive skin) or certain alcohol types that can be inflammatory and drying to ... MoreI prefer this mineral sunscreen over many others for the following reasons:1. I've used plenty of sunscreens that have left me with a white cast, a chemical smell, and looking like I was dipped in vegetable oil...This one does the opposite of all that! At first I was nervous as the product directly out of the bottle looks and feels like any other sunscreen out there. But once I applied it to my skin I was pleasantly surprised! There is no overwhelming "sunscreen" smell. Once applied and blended I didn't see any streaks, and left my skin feeling as if I had applied a light moisturizer that gave a dewy look. There was also no burning to my eye area as I found some other sunscreens do even if it's applied away from my eyes. I wear this everyday under my makeup and I found it doesn't lift or separate from my foundation. Id like to note the pump that was included makes it easier to use as I dont need to fumble around with a small cap. I'm excited to apply my sunscreen everyday when it is this one! 🌞
This is a nice light-feeling physical sunscreen, I like that I can't feel it on my skin once it's dried down. No white cast (though I have pale skin), spreads very sheer and blends easily. It does have a weird smell when applying, almost like plastic or something. But it disappears once it's dried so that's not a big deal to me. I only docked off one star because on me the finish is very dewy and I prefer a more matte or at the very least natural look. But, I can for the most part take care of that issue with makeup. I didn't get oily or greasy during the day which is definitely important. I'll keep this in my rotation, but because of the finish I'll probably only use it when I'm wearing makeup, which goes on easily over top, btw. This was gifted to me by Dr. Dennis Gross and here is my honest review: I recently tried the all-physical broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 50 by Dr. Dennis Gross, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. The texture of this sunscreen is fantastic. It's oil-free and non-greasy, which makes it easy to apply and blend into my skin. I appreciate that it doesn't leave behind a heavy or sticky residue. Instead, it offers a lightweight finish that feels comfortable throughout the day. Plus, the hydration it provides is a bonus, leaving my skin feeling nourished and moisturized. I have noticed a visible improvement in terms of reduced fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven skin tone. The water and sweat resistance of this sunscreen are remarkable. Its high-performance formula, lightweight texture, and excellent sun protection make it an ideal choice for those seeking a sunscreen that can keep up with an active lifestyle while preventing signs of sun aging.
This is a good psychical sunscreen as psychical sunscreens go. It's cruelty free and parfum free. I like that it has a pump, huge plus for me. Zinc tends to be very drying for my dry skin, often times I start to itch from dryness later in day. This one is really moisturizing, doesn't gather in fine lines throughout the day. It wears nicely under foundation. There is a slight white cast but this is almost unavoidable with zinc products. I must say this though, it is very very greasy. You will look like a glazed donut. So much so I actually eliminated glossier futuredew from my makeup routine. I already know this one won't please a lot of people but if you like dewy makeup or dewy look to your skin, this could work as a great base for that!
