Dr Dennis Gross - Vitamin C Lactic 15% Vitamin C Firm & Bright Serum

This is an almost perfect product. The ingredients are excellent, for all the people giving it low stars because it smells like hotdog water…news flash: a quality vitamin C serum is SUPPOSED to smell like this. It’s not supposed to smell like oranges. The finish is slightly sticky but this dissipated very quickly and honestly gave me such a pretty natural glow. Most vitamin c serums give me issues (including breaking me out) but this one did not. The only reason why I knocked off a star is because they put it in a dropper bottle….it should be in a pump and never exposed to air. It is opaque which is good. Overall, if you’re looking for a quality vitamin C serum with simple excellent ingredients, I recommend you check it out.

BEST VITAMIN C OUT THERE

Best investment for your skin. Besides a Sunscreen, a good vitamin c is the best thing you can have for your skin. I was influenced after listening to him speak about the benefits of a Lactic and a vitamin C together, and how it really impacts how the product soaks into your skin and it is much more effective that way (on the Skinny Confidential podcast). This product is $$$$$ but it is well worth the money IMO. I have tried the glow recipe and Sunday Riley Vitamin C's, but none are as affective as this. I saw results in DAYS with this product. It gives you an instant glow and literally helps eliminate those dark spots and wrinkles almost instantly. The only downside is the smell but it's really not that bad, people are so dramatic lol. Bad reaction

I got this as a sample size with one of my GWPs and thank God for that because if I bought a full size I would be still kicking myself. The thing is - this is not a product for you if you have sensitive and reactive skin. I wish I knew that. When I applyed it to my face it started to burn, i tried to wash it out but the feeling of buring was still there. When I look myself in the mirror I looked like I burnt my whole face. My husband told me that I look like a Hellboy. Yeah, that is how my skin was red and burnt! I tied to save it with thermal water, calming creams etc. It did help with the fining of burning but the redness was still there. Redness disapeared in the early moring (thank God!), after almost 8 hours. Do not buy, horrible smell and quality

Really disappointed with this product, especially for the price, and it should be a trusted brand with quality products. I have seen quite a few comments about the smell, and I can confirm it literally smells and feels like you are putting pure maple syrup on your face. What has really disappointed me is the bottle that it comes in and the fact that they sell it in this type of bottle as a well-known skin care brand. Vitamin C, oxidizes when exposed to air so every time you open the bottle, the quality of this serum decreases. You can tell by the dark orange colour that this is not a quality vitamin c serum. Look for serums that are either white or a pale orange. Anything dark or in a dropper bottle are big red flags and I wish I had known before spending money on it.

Effective

I received a sample of this, so I was only able to use it a couple times. You are only supposed to use it once a day, so at night I used a different, less intensive vitamin C serum in place of this. There is a strong smell — I don’t know how to describe it, but it’s unpleasant. The serum itself is light, orange in colour, and sinks into your skin quickly. It felt very nourishing and hydrating and had a nice texture. The sachet said there might be some tingling, but I didn’t feel anything despite having sensitive skin. I did notice a difference after a couple of uses — I woke up to glowing, clearer skin. Overall, it’s a nice serum, but I feel like there are other serums on the market that are better value for money.

Firm, Bright, Clear, Even Skin

I have very oily skin that breaks out once a month. I was using the DDG cleanser, extra-strength peels, retinol serum and Alpha Beta Moisturizer. I felt my skin needed a little something extra, a little oomph. I read about Vitamin C and thought I would try the serum. So glad I did. I have been using DDG's Vitamin C Lactic Serum for two weeks now and love it. My skin looks bright and clear, my skin tone is more even and my acne scars are disappearing. My skin feels firmer. There is a smell but I kind of like it. I use this in the morning. First I use the Alpha Beta cleanser, then the extra-strength peel, then the Vitamin C serum, then my Alpha Beta moisturizer and then DDG's Lightweight Sunscreen (sun protection is so important). I highly recommend this.

Hands down the best Vitamin C Serum

I’ve been using this Dr, Dennis Gross Vitamin C Serum every morning for approximately two months and I’ve noticed a phenomenal improvement to the texture and firmness of my skin. I previously used SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic for two years. I was hesitant to forgo this serum because it’s backed by more clinical data than any other vitamin c serum on the market but the price was killing me. I first tried Timeless 20% Vitamin C serum which is apparently a dupe for Skinceuticals CE ferulic, and although I didn’t mind it, it was a bit too watery for my liking. I then tried Paula’s Choice C15 serum which I quite liked. As I was almost running out and ready to order more, I saw Dr Dennis Gross’ new Vitamin C+Lactic serum at Mecca and decided to buy it. It has lightly lightened my hyperpigmentation marks but the main improvements from this serum is noticeably firmer and brighter skin and I kid you both the wrinkles around my eyes have diminished considerably.It’s an oily textured serum which I don’t mind at all and I have combo skin. Probably because I’ve used SkinCeuticals for years and that felt oily to me. As for the weird smell some reported. I haven’t noticed anything to report on. It smells perfectly fine to me.

I've wasted so much money in my life on products that never followed through on their claims, but DDG products are not like the others. In my short time using them, I've seen noticeable results and know those results will only get better with time and continued use. I have a feeling I've found my holy grail products and my search for amazing skincare is finally over.

Issue with quality control and measures of serum

I would have given this product 5 stars, however since my intiial purchase of this product a couple of months ago, until now, I've noticed a severe and concerning reduction in the consistency of this liquid product. The first serum I bought was deep orange, well concentrated and worked SO well! My skin was literally brighter the next day. The serum applied smoothly and left a nice glow. The second month I went to buy another serum and I noticed the serum was significantly lighter than the one I bought a month ago. In fact, it looked watered down!! I realized this product is already new so there can't be a change in the formula already... I thought it super odd. From one single deep orange (as the original one I bought that worked well) to light orange (watered down and smelled odd) to clear water!!!! YES CLEAR WATER! (SEE PHOTO IN MY REVIEW) one of the bottles had clear water in it instead of actual orange colored vitamin C serum! The saddest part is when I brought this to the attention of an employee they disregarded the matter and put the bottle right back on the shelf. So.. basically someone is going to buy that bottle and get ripped off because they will have just bought $75 worth of water.. anyways... great job sephora employees, quality work right there.Point in case, the Dennis Gross team needs to become aware of this and FIX IT ASAP !Because the original product is phenomenal, but clearly there is something very wrong happening in the assembly of the product, no quality control measure I suppose..so until it's fixed, it gets a 1 start from me.

I came across a travel size of this serum in one of the advent calendars. I was happy at first because I like some products from the Dr Dennis Gross brand. The texture of the serum is watery, and transparent, but has an orange tint. It smells like most vitamin C products, - quite unpleasantly. But the smell does not remain on the skin for long. During the use of the serum, I did not notice any brightening effect. I noticed though some was some firming effect, but this is my subjective impression. I understand that the effect of vitamin C can be seen only with time. After all, its main function as an antioxidant is to promote collagen production.
