These boots are fantastic. I have wanted a pair of classic style docs for a really long time and have just never gotten on with the idea of wearing black leather. When I saw these for the first time I fell In love with the colour and the distressed look of the crazy horse leather. The backs of the boots needed a bit of wearing in (also took a tip from my mum - ex policewoman that hammering the leather at the back through a cloth helps make the leather less rigid). The wearing in was expected. The boots look and feel amazing. Grateful for the dr marten website sizing up to a 13

I am currently on a long camping trip through remote Western Australia. These boots have been a godsend. They are warm enough for crisp winter nights, but the leather also keeps my feet cool & dry during the scorching days. They look even better covered in Pilbara red dust than they do freshly polished, though even that looks pretty smart. I’ve worn these for spontaneous hikes and they are almost comfier than my actual hiking boots. I am usually a 38 and bought a 38 as I knew I’d always wear them with thick-ish wool socks. Took about 3 weeks of daily wear with a couple of gaps to break in, they are so soft now they’ve broken in.

I was disappointed to find that one of the soles was machined very differently to the other, so that the welt was several millimetres wider and very noticeable. The soles themselves seemed to be positioned differently on each boot so when placed sole to sole, they weren’t anywhere near symmetrical. These things are bound to happen of course but I was surprised that this wasn’t picked up by quality control to be honest...Another issue ( which I’ve seen mentioned on other reviews) is that there is a seam inside the boot at the bottom of the tongue, which has excess leather stitched in such a way that it wants to catch the sock when the foot slides into the boot. When you do manage to wiggle your foot in, the seam feels uncomfortable on the top of the foot.Having ... MoreI was disappointed to find that one of the soles was machined very differently to the other, so that the welt was several millimetres wider and very noticeable. Unfortunately not a good experience. Quality of leather was very impressive but sizing was not right so returned & visited store. Tried on 3 different pairs of the same boot & same size until I found a pair that fitted. Surprised that they differed so much. When I got home I had doubts that the ones given to me were the actual boots I had tried on in the shop. The right boot made a clicking sound as I walked and was 1 centimetre shorter that the left boot! Not impressed so they have been returned as well.Very disappointed, I’ve worn DM’s for years & really looking forward to a new pair, but the manufacturing quality now seems very poor.
Absolutely love these boots. The leather is thicker and stiffer than most docs, however it has started to soften as I've worn them around. They fit perfectly and are very sturdy. I'm sure they're going to last a long time. I love the natural finish of the leather, though buyers should be aware that they will show scuff marks very easily without a good wax. I think it adds to the character of the boot.
It's my first pair of 1460 boots and they are great, I really like them. Maybe two things to mention. I bought the same boots a year ago in size 46 because I believed the tips I found online that it has to be snug at first and stuff like that. I normally wear size 47 so it was plain stupid :) Well, I had to buy another pair in size 47 because was way too uncomfortable, they hurt the top of my feet real bad where to toebox meets the tongue of the shoe (but maybe it's just my feet). So my recommendation is to go with whatever size is comfortable from the beginning. In case it's necessary you can buy more thick insoles (made by Martens) that make a perfect fit and I definitely recommend buying the Martens 'double padded' socks. Another thing is that if you buy these boots from ASOS using EU sizes be aware that you might receive a smaller size. I guess it's because of the size conversion, but a year ago I ordered sizes 47 and 48 and got sizes 46 and 47, and this time I ordered size 48 and got size 47 (but I already knew this might happen)
These are great shoes. This style of leather gains character with every scuff, mark and general use. As much as I dislike letting my new shoes get a little beaten up, it's definitely a beauty! This style of brown boot looks classy, and fits my doc collection nicely. I needed a new quality work boot as a salesperson who walks for miles a day and this shoe fits the bill nicely. As normal it's a tougher shoe to break in but I'm happy so far.Would definitely recommend if anyone wants a shoe of this style. I'm hoping to get the matching laptop bag soon! Also - who wouldn't have yellow laces??
These boots look great, however the left boot seems to be much tighter than the right in one particular spot. Having had a close look inside the left boot I can see there is an area with excess leather along the seam that joins the tongue to the front/top of the boot. This ridge has caused some bruising on the top of my foot, and after a week of wearing the boots in the house and following breaking-in advice on the DM's website the left one is still too painful to wear for more than a couple of hours at a time. I've emailed Dr Martens asking for advice and am currently waiting on a response. Other than this issue, the boots are lovely to look at and seem to be well made. I'm very much looking forward to a resolution so I can start wearing them out of the house. I’ve owned several different types of boots. Compared to my Timberlands and Hushpuppies, these are more comfortable. That being said, the aforementioned boots are also very good. The Dr Mertens are light and the rugged brown look of this variant looks amazing. I’m a mature adult male, and the brown appeals to me. Worn with jeans over; they look like a nice pair of chukkas. With a pair of chinos, they look like an amazing military boot.I was in a bit of a dilemma, wether or not to keep the Chelsea variant. In fact I purchased a Chelsea; but exchanged it for the lace up. The Chelsea was a great fit, but the store clerk advised that I may have more versatility with lace up’s - being able to tighten them with thin socks, or wear them with a broader range of outfits. ... MoreI’ve owned several different types of boots. The Chelsea was a great fit, but the store clerk advised that I may have more versatility with lace up’s - being able to tighten them with thin socks, or wear them with a broader range of outfits. They also advised that there was slightly low risk of the Chelsea stretching and then feeling clunky.Lastly, on point of the Dr Merten Chelsea - they are are a little tough to slip into and take off. I had to use both hands to wedge them off my feet. Compared to my Hush Puppy Chelsea’s (which slip on and off easily), the Dr Merten slip in wasn’t practical. In brief, Im super happy with my Dr Mertens lace-up’s. The Chelsea variant is also great; but may not appeal to everyone.
Unbelievably comfy, great looking boots, even from the first wear. It’s now winter, so the weather isn’t always great for walking, and although these boots aren’t typically considered walking boots, they’ve very warm and easy to clean after those muddy walks. The fit is true to size; I bought in size 10 (my usual shoe size) and the fit was great, however, boots tend to feel a bit roomier than shoes, but this is easily fixed by a pair of boot socks to make the boots feel nice and snug.Would definitely recommend investing in these boots and I would definitely buy again if the time comes, though I imagine with proper care, these boots will outlast me.
