Being a bit vertically challenged (i.e. I'm not so tall), the extra platform on the shoes gives me more confidence. The shoes, once worn a few times, feel like carpet slippers. As for the style, they are just right. For instance, not too ordinary and not too over-the-top. When I wore them at the start of the new term, I got a few complements. By the way, I'm a teacher, not a student! That gives me a buzz, especially when you're in your 50's!! Now, there's my cracking, stella review. Where's my new pair of Dr. Martens, then??

I'm so happy I bought these, I have had doc boots before and was aware of the breaking in period, which wasn't too long with these, I got some rubber heel guards that helped initially. Do not size up or down, just exact size. Lovely slightly chunky sole I wouldn't exactly say platform. I got these for work as sick of spending Ā£30 a quarter of rubbish black shoes that's don't last and I'm so delighted with the look and comfort. I actually even wear on days off with almost every outfit! Such a good investment buy!

My final options when deciding were the 8053 smooth leather platforms, the Audrick Nappa leather platforms, the 1461 Bex squared toe oxfords, and these (the 1461 smooth leather platforms), all in black. I decided on the 1461 smooth leather platforms because of design preference, versatility (in my opinion they are less casual than the Audrick Nappa and more causal than the 8053, which I liked), photo reviews, lack of reviews on some of the other styles, and not wanting the square toe for a first pair.These are great! I returned them to get a style more like the 1461s, and Iām happy I did.

Iām usually a size 7.5-8 - I have quite wide feet but I had heard the advice to size down and I took it, and thank god I did! The shoes have plenty of room inside them and if anything, the heel for me slips a lot. Iām going to get some heel grips to assist with this, so itās not a big problem to me personally. What I would say is as long as you have toe wiggle room, the shoe will mould easy to your feet with usual wear. Iād personally recommend sizing down - but I donāt know if I just got really lucky with guessing my size seeing as I couldnāt visit the shop due to restrictions.I didnāt find them hard to break in at all and didnāt feel any discomfort other than the leather of the heel being quite stiff still. Beautiful but alas the patent version is too narrow. My 13yr old daughter has wide feet, high insteps. Finding shoes that fit is challenging and alas the patent have to be returned. But the design and quality are fab so today we tried the same style in normal leather, she needed Ā½ a size smaller (unheard of!!!). Perfect fit! So for those with wide feet, patent is snug, normal leather is a relaxed fit. These lovely shoes have some weight behind them and hopefully some durability. I'm a 7.5 womens wide which is a standard medium width in mens ("D"), so I'm surprised how narrow this runs for a unisex shoe. I tried both size 7 and 8, and kept the 7s. 8s were enormous. They only stayed put with 2 pairs of hiking socks & were way too long to walk in properly. 7s fit perfectly without socks but are still snug with anything thicker than a dress sock. I returned the 8s and wore the 7s with a pair of thick socks for 30 min then out & about, sockless, for a few hours. No blisters or discomfort whatsoever. Only downside is that the leather, at least brand new, isn't breathable. Otherwise comfy but def not a width I'd classify as remotely unisex.
These shoes are everything for me. I have fat and flat feet and I was so scared that breaking them in would be horrible. It wasn't at all! I literally get sad when I can't wear these! I've worn them everyday since delivered around 4/18 except two days because I couldn't find socks hahaha. Their platforms will all being eventually ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøAlso, for half sizes def size down. I am usually an 8.5 so I got a 9 the first time and they were like clown shoes and the tongue was pressing into my ankle. Like I said earlier I have wide and fat feet so if you have narrow/normal feet you might downsize 1-2 sizes than normal. My friend usually wear 7.5-8 and she is wearing a 6 but she has boots.

Had no intention or interest in owning another pair of shoes from DM but tried them on anywayā¦how quickly I talked myself into needing a new pair of winter shoes since my Dansko clogs died prior to COVID. :)This is a very stiff leather and will stay looking new if cared for & shined properly. If you prefer a softer leather this shoe isnāt for you. I bought my true size 8 and with a thicker sock (not a wool or boot sock) theyāll be perfect. My big toe hit just right.
