Boot could be great, but sizing is weird

I’m trying to push through and see if they break in better, which they have, but I’m not close to them being remotely comfortable. I am not sure if the process is worth it in the end. The hole to put your foot through at the top of the boot is pretty small, I’ll echo what others have said in that you’ll definitely need to use the loop to assist putting them on. If you wear these with lower socks (think ankle), there’s a high probability that it’ll scratch at the back of your leg a bit as it does mine. If I wasn’t going for this look in particular, I think I would’ve landed on Blundstones for just an every day boot.

I haven’t owned a pair of DM’s for many years and was worried that the quality might have suffered as with other brands. But I needn’t have worried. My Chelsea boots are top quality. They are a struggle to get on but getting easier as I wear them in. At 67 I need (but not psychologically ready for orthopaedic shoes) So I opted for DM’s and I now have 3 pairs. It goes without saying that they are extremely comfortable. The agreeable comments I have had from younger members of my family have made me feel rather trendy which definitely wouldn’t have happened if I’d have gone for the Velcro fastening orthopaedics. All in all an expensive but worthy decision.

Got these shoes after a month of thinking and asking a million questions to anyone that i saw have them on. They don’t have half sizes and more times then not i got told to size up. I did and i am glad i did. I need no slip shoes for my restaurant job. When i first got the box i thought to my self “woah this is super heavy” they are, they are heavy but sturdy and thick. They just feel good quality all around. The reason they feel heavy to me is that i wear Cortez, Nike air, or uggs on all the other days. So those weight nothing. When i wear these boots i feel like a whole different person ready to kick throat the day and make my self have a nice and easy day. It also helps that these shoes have a built in insole in them. Nice and cushioning.

Excellent Boot
13 March 2024

I splurged and got the Made in England boot and have zero regrets. Excellent craftsmanship, generous fit, and they are breaking in nicely. Shipping was fast, and the packaging was lovely. I typically wear women’s 8.5/9US and opted to go with the 9. A half size down would have been perfect if that had been an option. They are roomy for a 9, but that’s ok because they will accommodate thicker socks if needed. One suggestion with the Chelsea boot: get heel inserts; this will prevent any pressure on the back of your leg and make the boots even more comfortable right out of the box.

Fabulous pair of chunky Chelsea boots!
16 October 2023

They did need a bit of wearing in, but I find this standard for most DM’s, once worn in they are very comfy. A little tight to begin with getting my foot in, but the elastic gives and the leather does soften. Slightly on the larger size of a 6 for me. This is not a problem as there is plenty of room for winter socks. I also bought a pair of the DM insoles for extra comfort. Not that they especially need them, I just feel the insole gives that bit extra and stops my socks and foot sliding around. Width was perfect for me, they don’t pinch. The chunkier sole on these are fab! Really good grip on them too. Wet pavement and autumn leaves don’t stop the tread on these boots. No sliding and slipping when wet under foot. Love These - RUN LARGE
19 November 2022

I've been wearing Docs since the 90s, and have found they typically run true to size. To my disappointment, I found this untrue of this particular boot and should have heeded the reviews of others and ordered a size down.Since I have a wider foot and wear a women's 9.5 in most brands, I decided to take my chances on the (size chart) recommended size 40. That was a big mistake I couldn't return because the leather these boots are made of shows noticeable wear* at flex points. After a few months of looking at them in my closet, knowing I couldn't wear them without my feet looking comically large and slipping in the soles, I ordered a size down (39) and couldn't be happier. My sister, with larger feet, loves her new pair as well!*I highly recommend purchasing the shoe care kit. These boots require extra protection and care. In general, because of the Crazy Horse leather and specifically if you live somewhere salt is used to treat ice and snow. If you haven't purchased the Wonder Balsam in a long time, take note that it no longer comes with an applicator.

My new winter go-to boots!
1 December 2023

I ordered true to my size and these fit perfectly AFTER breaking them in. Took two weeks to break these in and and they are almost perfect now! The only downside is that they don't have a super padded sole, it's a harder, more flat material; although it's not super uncomfortable, it's not as comfortable as docs can be either. That being said, I LOVE these boots and would highly recommend! You can feel the grip working on certain stones, so I know they will be good for the RI winters. The quality of this boot is also amazing. I thought they would be hard to slide into, but again, once they are broken in it gets easier. They also don't feel loose around the ankle so the boot itself stays connected with your foot offering a comforting fit because the boot it's slipping ... MoreI ordered true to my size and these fit perfectly AFTER breaking them in. The top part also fits snug around your leg so the warmth is trapped in. These also do a great job at keep your feet warm as well.

Not the same good quality I’m used to from DMs
10 January 2023

Was looking to buy these full price but was even better to get them on sale for £109, still pricey really but I know DMs are usually good quality and last aaaages.Although I will keep them, because I might not get them again in my size now in the sale, I’ll keep an eye on them. Where I’ve done this the leather has started to crease on top of the toe, which is fine and expected, but doesn’t seem to have the same decent quality as my other pair of these. If I hadn’t purchased from the actual DMs website, I’d have thought they were knock off.

Relieved Back & Foot Pain
31 July 2024

I have bad back issues and plantar fasciitis. With in the first day of wearing these to work I had relief. I can't remember a time without lower back pain or walking easily after 10-12 hours on my feet until now. Just like any boot they took about a week to break in with 10-12 hour days. I used corn pads to prevent rubbing on my ankles, after 1st week I did not need them anymore. The breaking in process was not as bad as I feared it to be. Minor ankle discomfort after removing them at night, but not noticeable while wearing. I have had them awhile now and will probably never try another shoe again. I have tried so many over the last 10 years nothing comes close to the relief i have felt. The slip resistant is great in water, Freezers, and other slippery areas. Warm, cosy and very comfortable
7 December 2023

Love these! I wanted sone sturdy winter boots that would last and I’d been looking at these for a while before finally purchasing some when my current boots developed a leak. After reading some reviews I anticipated having to break these in, but there was absolutely no need! They fit like a glove and we’re so comfortable right from the first wear. They’re so warm and cosy, the comfiest footwear I own!I find them true to size, even though I have pretty narrow feet. I wear either a UK7.5 or UK8; these are a UK8 and they fit perfectly.
