This is a richly flavorful product made from real vanilla pods. The brands I use in the US are thin and watery whereas this is a thicker, almost syrupy consistency so you actually, because of how flavorful the product is, can use a bit less than your favorite recipes call for. The aroma while baking and the taste of the finished baked item are sensational. We also use it in smoothies as a flavor enhancer. I'm planning of buying a case of it to take back to the US with me if I can't find it available online to purchase! I am a total fan!

Some food essences can be a bit synthetic, but this one is the real thing and tastes really good.It is a little pricier than Asda‘s own brand, which wasn’t available, but still a good buy.

Doesn't even smell like vanilla. Have used different vanilla essence for my vanilla cakes and wanted to try this product. Nothing to do with vanilla. Just a thick something 😏

I bought this as I needed vanilla flavouring for some cupcakes I was making, but this isn’t a standard vanilla flavour. It has a much stronger and sweeter taste that’s a normal bottle of vanilla essence. The product itself is quite thick and like a syrup as opposed to a runny liquid consistency. I did’t know at the time how different this product would be from what I wanted. Either way, my friends and family noticed the sweeter taste and didn’t like it
The 3 main ingredients are Invert Sugar Syrup, Glucose Syrup and water. The fourth and last (and therefore the least) ingredient listed was vanilla. This is vanilla flavoured sugar. Not what I wanted at all. Disappointed as it says it's Madagascan vanilla extract.
Waste of time. This is mostly sugar syrup with a tiny, tiny fraction of vanilla. It adds a sickly note, rather than the deep almost boozy richness of vanilla. If you like just sweetness, then go for this one. If not, try the Neilsen Massey or Asda Extra Special (that has no added sugar). The only use I can think for this is for items not to be cooked, so maybe in a chilled cheesecake mix?
I don't need super high quality vanilla extract for most baking needs - I am even fine with fake stuff for most uses, but this is unacceptably bad. I expect something labelled extract to be in alcohol, not in syrup. I was worried about the recipe coming out right with the added syrup. Also, the boozy quality of 'normal' extract is often part of the profile it adds. I won't buy again.
In over half a century of baking I've not come accross a vanilla extract with so little of the essential ingredient. The curiously slimy carrier for the vanilla is pretty odd and you need much more of this than the usual liquid extracts to do the same job.
I bought this because I was tempted by the price, especially considering how expensive the alternate options are. But you could use the whole bottle and still get no flavour. Going back to carefully and stingily using the pricey ones.
with vanilla prices rocketing, this is good value for money. Not a massively strong flavour in cakes admittedly but then the higher end £4 to £5 vanilla extract is too expensive to buy
