Cool and versatile tool. Need to get a book on the topic (mine did not come with cd in the pic). You can do SO much with it. Great Boys' toy too. Perfect for father day, Christmas, whatever. Having said that - many girls would love it too - as it is not too cumbersome. They would probably do better than boys using it ..... Be aware, though, that it comes almost "naked" - lots of accessories need to be purchased separately. That makes it rather expensive. Still - better than gambling on the cheap alternatives.

Comes in a very nice padded case for added protection. Only a couple of 'cons' he said regarding the tool[them being]was the need to purchase more 'attachments' for it, which I believe cost approx 8 and he also purchased a universal chuck to fit to the end of the DREMMEL purely because he found it quite tedious using the small tool provided when I bought it for him as he constantly was having to change the head attachments. DREMMEL do sell that part separately and again it cost approx 8 .. Excellent for what I need. I'm using it in my jeweĺlery making but I reckon I'll get loads of other uses from it as well. I'll have to add to the kit though, as the small amount of accessories it comes with are not enough to do much with. Also, when you're changing the bits the lock button can stick a little, but I have read this happens and it isn't a problem as long as you don't over tighten in the first place. I think the multi chuck or a mini collet kit is best to buy alongside this, as then you can use lots of different bits and accessories with it. Great buy overall.

If you are wondering, 'yes', this is powerful enough for most projects.I'm a DIYer and my Missus makes crafts. I found that this has a very powerful motor, which can be stepped down for delicate jobs. I used it recently to engrave some wood and to cut a 'slot' in a screw cross head (using other Dremel attachments), which worked perfectly and gives you an idea of how powerful it is.I would definitively recommend this set.To change the attachments you need to press a button and use the small tool, but this is no great hardship and very easy to do.The case is sturdy and has room to put in other extras you might buy.
Would mention that having owned several of these, a common fault is 'switch failure', leading to units stopping abruptly. Examination has revealed a major design fault -- the fan actually draws machining dust INTO the switch, causing the problem. To save the expense of a new switch, simply dismantle the shell, (see YOUTUBE home-repair video) and blow dust out with the aid of a soft brush. Otherwise, these units are quite satisfactory for light work. Servicing facilities practically unavailable in UK since Brexit. Regards < calacu-epyhxx
Bought it to cut off some exhaust bolts which were in an awkward place and rusted on. The tool comes with some discs but I would advise you grab some of the metal cutting discs. There are some that require a quick release mandrel which is not in this kit. You will have to buy that.It took about five minutes to do the job but would have been quicker if I could have done a straight cut. I would recommend giving the tool plenty of breaks to cool down - I let it cool off for a few minutes regularly. It went through six discs but to be fair it was a very tough job.I love it, chopped off the old hangers too it was quick and powerful enough
I had to replace garage door locks, but the new ones were too large to fit the gaps in the metal door. I both the multi tool to enlarge the hole and it worked brilliantly. The metal cutting docs that come with it wear out quite quickly, but I could not have done the job as easily without it. Looking forward to playing with it on other projects.
So have a good collection of tools but have made do without a multi tool. However this just makes those small jobs easier, already used on three different types of project. Small applications great
Bought in January 2015. Used a couple of times, once to cut a thin wooden dowel, second time to cut a thin sheet of wood. Failed, no smoking or sparks, just stopped rotating and would not work any longer. Replaced fuse, nothing. Got a replacement, stopped working after 15 minutes of use when I was cutting a thin sheet of metal. Total rubbish. Googled the problem, it's extremely common, same symptoms, same failure, it will fail time and time again, do not buy unless you like to throw money away. Looks the part, but doesn't last. And yes, I ran the machine for 5 minutes with no load on the first use as the manual indicated. Never overstressed the machine, used the correct RPM as indicated in the manual, etcetera.
