Very good ride. The original Dunlop tires that came on my 17 Road Glide were rough riding tires picking up on any road imperfections. The Elites ride much smoother and have good grip. Had purchased Shinko 777HD tires that I have been running on a lighter Harley but had to replace them. Once they heated up I got a very bad wobble, Road Glide was too heavy for the sidewalls to support. The Dunlop American Elite tires will be the only ones for the Road Glide from here on out.

The tire is great. We have had good luck with this tire in the past and that is why we chose to purchase the tire. We did have a scare with it when we had first bought it about a month after it had been on the bike. The tire went flat. We called Cycle Gear and they said to bring the tire in and they would look at it to see what happened. The guy inspected the tire and no puncture areas were noted. He replaced the tube that was initially put in and so far so good. The bike is not being ridden now. Just so glad the tire went flat in a place we were safe/ It was quite the surprise when my husband went to move the bike and noticed the tire was completely flat

I have never had a tire make such a difference in performance. I will be buying these tires again. I don't care if they don't wear as well as others. It's well worth paying a little extra for the performance and comfort. I have only had experience with the stock Harley Dunlop's and Commander 11 but, these tires are way better imho. I've never been excited about a tire change before these Dunlop American Elites.

The Dunlop American Elites were mentioned in a conversation with a riding buddy and since I needed to change out the stock tires on my '09 Ultra Classic and after checking reviews I thought I'd give them a try. Great tires! I went through 2 sets on the Ultra and now have just replaced the originals on my '19 Street Glide. Huge difference especially in the big sweeping corners on the highways which I like to take a little quicker. The FLHX is lighter than the Ultra which makes it even more satisfying. Very positive feel in the tight country bends and quiet on the straight highways. I can't comment on wet weather riding.Love these tires!
I use both front and rear Dunlop American elite tires on my bike and get 18000 miles on the rear, these tires have multi compound technology harder on center area of tire and softer material on the side threads to aid in better gripping on the turns. I ride in south Florida where I am constantly riding in the rain and have zero issues in wet weather. The key to longer life is to keep tire pressure correct. I keep 40 psi in rear and 36 psi in the front. To aid in keeping tires balanced I use a product called ride on. this product keeps tires balanced as they wear, unlike wheel weights that only balance tires at that point in time when they are installed so as your tire wears unevenly you balance gradually gets out of balance. Another added feature is that ride on will help to seal tire punctures as long as you you riding to aid in getting you home,
I have around 450 miles on my new set of American Elite tires. They look good, handle great and ride really smooth. I went from Dunlop D407/408 to the American Elite's and I highly recommend the switch. Great tires! I have not ridden with them in the rain yet so I reserve judgement there. Dry highway, very smooth, good grip and with the 450 miles, the road ties are still present all over the tires and I ride pretty aggressive.
This is the 3rd set of tires I've purchased through Cycle Gear (2 sets of Dunlop American Elite's and 1 set of Michelin Commander's). The Dunlops (in my opinion) handled better, lasted longer than the Commander's and were priced lower.I spent 5 days throwing an 850 lb bike around on some really cool rides in Arkansas and the Dunlops performed flawlessly. On top of that, I've always gotten great service at my local Cycle Gear in Wichita Ks. Fast, friendly and knowledgeable, highly recommend.
At this price tier for tires, you can't really go wrong. I've had ME888's, and Commander II's in the past & decided to give 'dunflops' a try despite their past reputation. So far so good. I live on 5 miles of dirt/gravel road & these tires seam to absorb more of the gravel bumpiness than the Commander II's, to the extent that I stopped to check my tire pressure during the first ride to make sure I didn't have a leak!Highway performance is great, as it should be for any tire in this price range. No experience so far with wet traction, but that was the selling feature that made me try these over going back to the ME888s.These _seam_ softer than the Commander II's, similar feeling to the ME888s for me. Time will tell how many miles they last.I love the pinstripe ... MoreAt this price tier for tires, you can't really go wrong. I switched to American Elites based on other user reviews, and the brand of tires I have been running the past few years didn't give me the life expectancy I wanted.I'm very happy with these so far the bike feels very solid on the road, and being an aggressive rider they corner excellent.I'm also impressed with how well they perform in wet weather.I also want to mention pavement snakes. Other reviews have claimed that pavement snakes don't grab these tires like other brands and it's true! Small cracks and rough pavement don't seem to affect these tires like previous brand.I just bought another set for my wife's Heritage Classic.Overall VERY pleased with these tires!!
My Deuce had a 402 on the front, and a K591 on the rear. I never had an issue and felt they were the stock Harley tires had put on the bike and was going to replace them with the same. I could not find a K591. I got the AE in the same sizes and once broken in I noticed a difference. The indy shop guy put 42 in both tires and I felt the front was a bit slick. Harley suggests what is on the frame and when I lowered the rear to 40 and the front to 30, it felt great. I have ordered numerous times from Dennis Kirk and never had a problem, and will continue to use them in the future.
