A pick is not just a pick

I had some fender celluloid picks of various thicknesses before these, and i will never use those picks again.I bought the .88" dunlop picks to try something different, they're pretty inexpencive and work great. The gripping surface is a game changer for a novice guitarist imo.

I bought these in-store rather than online, and it is was of the best decisions I've ever made as a musician. I bought the 1.5's and it's helped keep me motivated as it enabled me to pick harder, better and faster (no pun intended). My hands naturally get very sweaty quickly, so the grip on the picks helps me hold on without having to adjust constantly, letting focus more on my playing than on the pick itself. And they are just plain strong; they have yet to bend after almost a year of playing, and they even hold up while playing a bass (though I plan on getting thicker picks for that anyways)

Best sounding pick slide

I use the 1.5mm on my electric guitar, palm mute sounds best, pick slide never better and pick can withstand the torture. I like the grip texture and feather weight of this material excellent for my alternate picking technique. Maybe not so much for strumming other than that this pick the best ever.

Bright chimey sound
13 December 2019

I use this 1.5 for playing electric guitar and it has that strat-like brightness to the tone. The 1.5 feels thinner than it is because it flexes and it is very light, when comparing it to a delrin 1.5 which has no flex and also has a bright tone. Good grip textured surface will surely help keep this on you fingers. I recommend you try this or just try several different types and find your favorite.

Great for mandolins!
13 July 2017

For playing mandolin, these are the best picks available, IMHO. The 1.5mm is thick and stiff, giving you good control for bluegrass, where speed is so important. The sides are beveled for tremeloing The maxi grip helps prevent dropping the pick, while playing. Mandolins can sound harsh and shrill, with too many treble overtones, if the pick is made of hard plastic as so many are. These nylon picks give a nice, round resonate tone. They are ideal for recording as well as playing. I sometimes use the 1.14 mm version as well as the 1.5mm if I want a slightly louder and brighter tone. They last forever, too. They were on sale again at Guitar Center and I decided to stock up!

The Max Grip texture grabs like sandpaper, even when wet!
13 January 2020

First off I love the Max Grip texture, as long as you are touching some part of that surface(even just the back corner) you won't slip your grip. The Nylon material is very flexible and makes a great pick for chicken picking, or hybrid picking, style because you can bend it around in between your index finger and thumb and get more bite while reaching with your middle finger and strumming the bass. I have had one of these picks in the biggest size 1.5 mm for a long time, and I would only use it for bass stuff because it was so rigid and thick. I am glad I tried the thinner gauges for guitar, I would have never guessed this material could be so bendy after just trying the big one. The worst thing I can say about them is sometimes you just feel like using a different ... MoreFirst off I love the Max Grip texture, as long as you are touching some part of that surface(even just the back corner) you won't slip your grip. The Search Is Over
13 July 2012

I started trying out & using nylon picks w/ grippers around 1989 - I was helping out another guitar player / friend & his band, & he used Dunlop 1.0 mm nylon picks (which I would "lift", then take home to try out on acoustics, as well as electrics). I liked them right away, except that the 1.0 mm was a little too thick. I remembered an interview that featured Jimmy Page saying he had used .88 mm Herco picks. That's how my long standing affair w/ Dunlop .88 mm nylons began.Later on in the 90's, I discovered Le Pik's arsenal of nylons - the design is offset, but there in lies what made them different, as well as ergonomical (I think that was their intent). I used those for 10 years or so, & then I had to make another switch when I found out Le Pik was going under. ... MoreI started trying out & using nylon picks w/ grippers around 1989 - I was helping out another guitar player / friend & his band, & he used Dunlop 1.0 mm nylon picks (which I would "lift", then take home to try out on acoustics, as well as electrics). I used those for 10 years or so, & then I had to make another switch when I found out Le Pik was going under. Around then was when I found Snarling Dog's Brain Picks - a dozen picks comes in a tin "stash box", one of which I keep on me at all times. They're alright nylon picks, but they wear & eventually, wear out.Today, I'm back using Dunlop .88 mm picks, only now I'm strumming away using their MAX Grip picks, which are the bomb. They hardly wear, the nylon feels a little denser & the grip area is innovative in the world of nylon guitar picks. The search is over...until (!)

The only pick I'll use
27 June 2023

I've been using these pick or their predecessor for well over 30 years. I love the newer Max Grip upgrade to the old Nylon picks. They seem to last forever. I gig 6-8 times a month on acoustic plus practicing and learning new songs, I can't count the hours I put on these picks before grabbing a new one. Try them, you'll like it!

The only picks I use!
5 March 2024

I have played guitar for almost 60 years and used all kinds of picks. I came across these years ago and I liked the 150's best. They don't slip out of my fingers and I get the right touch on the strings. So glad I found them!
