Dymatize Elite 100% Whey - 5lbs Gourmet Vanilla

The taste of the gourmet vanilla is terrible. I thought it was tolerable when I first bought it, but it is either getting worse over time or I'm getting appetite fatigue for it. There was a buy 2 get 1 free deal, so I got 6 pounds of this - I've already given one 2-lb canister away, and I'm barely more than halfway through the one canister I originally opened. And I bought this stuff about 2 years ago. It's most tolerable in milk, makes for a super-sweet but tolerable drink in OJ, and is nasty in water. It's almost impossible to make hot chocolate out of this - the closest I've gotten requires adding some salt, but it's still barely in the ballpark and I will not try that again. Adding cinnamon to it will mask the flavor a bit. I've quit trying to drink it, and ... MoreThe taste of the gourmet vanilla is terrible. Adding cinnamon to it will mask the flavor a bit. I've quit trying to drink it, and settled for slowly using up this stuff by including it in cookies and muffins - but I can only replace about 1/8 of the recipe's flour volume with the vanilla whey; any more than that, and it starts to impart its nasty artificial flavor to the food. And the gods help you if you like eating raw cookie dough with this stuff in it - any amount is immediately detectable and tastes bad. OTOH if you want incentive to not eat raw cookie dough, this may be for you.If you want to try using it for baking or pancakes, I do not recommend using it as the only source of sweetness, no matter how un-sweet you want your stuff to turn out. Because the flavor is AWFUL. After much experimentation, I determined that the volume required for equivalent sugar sweetness is 3:1. For example, If you substitute 3 Tbsp of vanilla whey for 3 Tbsp of flour, you'll also want to reduce the sugar in the recipe by 1 Tbsp.As a general rule for unflavored whey, I can replace up to 25% of the flour in a recipe with it, without changing the rest of the recipe. Works for cookies, muffins, and pancakes; cakes are a little more finicky with regards to texture, and I haven't tried it in a cake yet.Really wish Dymatize would just make a plain flavor.

I am very particular with the taste of my protein. My first few protein whey powders were riddled with particles that do not taste like the endorsed flavor - making it a chore to drink. I want my whey powder to be a reward after a grueling workout - and this one is definitely a reward with its rich chocolate flavor that really does taste like chocolate. What are some benefits of owning this product? 25 grams of protein per serving provides me with the right amount of energy after a workout for muscle gain and muscle recovery. With the added benefit of Leucine that helps with activating muscle protein synthesis. I can go longer and stronger on each succeeding workout especially on heavy push and pull days. I love this product and I would definitely purchase this for ... MoreI am very particular with the taste of my protein. I received a container of the Choc Cake Batter and I was looking forward to it cause I've had one other choc cake batter protein from another brand in the past so I was looking forward to that cake batter taste but this one just doesn't taste like a cake batter. After trying many shakes with it mixed in cold water I tried to find something that this flavor resembled and for me it tasted like a fudgesicle ice cream bar. It's good but it's not a cake batter which is what I was hoping for so the flavor gets an 8/10. It mixes up very well in a shaker cup but you do get a good amount of foam so you definitely need to let it sit for a minute before drinking. So for mix ability this gets and 8/10. The ingredient profile is a whey blend where concentrate is the main source and it does have a digestive enzyme blend so there were no digestion issues and this protein gives you 65 servings for a 5lb container which years back you'd get 75-80 per 5lb container so the prices have gone up and you get less servings for 5lbs. The good thing about this protein you can catch it on sale sometimes so that's the best time to snatch up a few flavors and I do recommend this flavor IF you want a milk choc because if your hoping for a cake batter flavor this one isn't it. In order for it to be a cake batter it needs to have a heavy flavor of cake which this one doesn't have but like I mentioned it's a pretty good milk choc which you can't go wrong with so overall milk choc lovers won't be disappointed. This gets an 8.5 overall rating.

Even the wife loves it

Mixes pretty easy, has a good taste and you can make it as thick or thinned out as you'd like. To make it extra rich i'll add an equal sized scoop of powdered milk.Current blend for 100% whey is:6 scoops of the Dyamatize whey2 scoops of powdered milk3 bananasOr a blend of 3 scoops of the 100% whey and 3 scoops of the XT or the Casien, same as above but the XT and Casein will require extra water or it gets cake batter thick but the taste is always good.approx 18-20oz of water. Blend until smooth. I'll add a little extra water if needed but its a great protein and it doe NOT give me gas like other brands.

Fruit pebble protein powder

Flavor was very good. The quality was amazing it lasted for about a month. Whey is the only way to go when buying protein powder. Highly suggest buying this protein powder it was incredible. Loved the deals on this website as well!

Great protein powder from my experience

I've been purchasing the Dymatize Elite 100% Whey Protein for the past 1-2yrs. Using one scoop a day, the 10lbs bag takes about 4-5 months to finish. Mixed with oat milk (my personal preference), the rich chocolate just tastes like you're drinking chocolate milk, but even with something like almond milk or a low % milk it still tastes fine in my opinion. The thicker the liquid you're using to mix it with, the more difficult it'll be to get a smooth result. If all you have is a spoon to mix with, you'll probably have some clumping occur, but with the blender bottles I use this isn't typically an issue. I haven't tried too many other protein powders, but so far I've yet to have a reason to stray from this one.

I really enjoyed the taste

I really enjoyed the taste of this flavor. I think that chocolate cake batter is a poor naming choice because it doesn’t really taste like that at all. After my first shake, I thought that this protein tasted like a typical chocolate protein powder. Then, as I had a few more shakes and tried it a few different ways, I realized the true flavor. It tastes exactly like a milk and cookies flavor – put chips ahoy and milk in a blender, and I’m sure it would taste almost exactly like a Dymatize “chocolate cake batter” shake. I mixed some up with greek yogurt then later with cottage cheese to form a protein pudding mixture, and the flavor was about the same – just like chocolate chip cookies and milk! This flavor didn’t come through quite as strongly (more like a straight chocolate but a little weak) but still pretty tasty. Overall I would say the taste on this flavor was a 9-9.5 for me.For non-taste factors, the macros are pretty good, but not quite as good as Dymatize whey isolates or a few other brands. 25g protein / 2g fat /3g carbs isn’t perfect, but I feel pretty strongly that Dymatize isn’t spiking this protein with filler or aminos to boost the protein gram count, so I don’t really have a problem. The whey was really easy to mix in shakes, whether in a shaker or blender, so no issues there. And the price is pretty fair in my opinion as well. Obviously, I got this tub for free, but $55 for 5 lbs of protein isn’t bad, considering deals happen pretty often to bring that down closer to $45 or less.

Tastes and mixes like cheap 90’s protein powders.

Bought this based off of others’ reviews. Doesn’t mix well at all and the taste (rich chocolate flavor) is sub-par at best. It reminded me of all the chalky tasting protein powders they had in the late 90’s. It is loaded with good nutrition and it is possible to gulp this down but for their price point, it should be delicious. Spend your money on bsn syntha-6 instead. It may be higher in calories but it tastes 100x better than this stuff.

Yummy!!! And perfect flavor until the end

I love this in myFirst initial sip! It tastes absolutely great just like the cereal spot on. But there is a slight bitter aftertaste I?m having trouble getting past. I will try other flavors from this brand tho! I love how it doesn?t upset my stomach and is fairly low on carbs
