While the scale worked well, it was difficult to read the screen. If the screen was further back under a larger box, I couldn’t read it. I was able to hold the weight on the screen even after the package was removed. But, a lighted display, would make a big difference. It was just hard for me to see the display.

I bought the first Dymo M25 Portable Scale about 2 weeks ago. The scaled worked corrected but failed to be seen, in Windows Device Manage, when plugged in via USB. After several emails with Dymo, it was discovered that the device was defective. I returned to Office Depot and attempted to return it but was unable to to the COVID-19 policies. I Was able to buy another one that works correctly and connects with the USPS Click-N-Ship Business software. I would have scored the scale 5 stars except for the need to replace the initial one I purchased.

A great Postage Scales for home office use at a very affordable price. Simple and easy to use, metric or imperial weight display. The hold function is very useful for large or awkward size parcels when the screen can't be seen. Tare facility is also a useful feature. The size of the scale is perfect for sitting on my desk without being too big or bulky. It's great that it can be powered via a USB cable as well. I'm very pleased with the product for my basic needs, which is to be able to work out postal costs before going to the post office. The only minor annoyance was that I wasn't able to find (let alone download) the advertised App. The link provided in the manual didn't go to the download and I was unable to find the App anywhere on the Dymo website. This is my third one of this scale. The first one lasted me a year, the second one is still going strong after two years and since business is increasing, i added another. I am really hard on scales and they are used all day long anywhere from a few ounces to full weight. If a scale lasts a year with me, I'm excited! My only criticism of this scale is the display is hard to read. I wish it had a brighter setting and was angled a bit more. I work on a tall table but am a tall person and you almost need to be at eye level to read it. That is my only reason for a rating of 4 and not a rating of 5.

The scale appears to be made well, and functions properly, However, it only reads in half pound increments. Didn't see that in the description or any of the reviews I read. Reads only half pound increments should be one of the first descriptors, it's a scale after all. So I think I'll return it and get the 100 pound instead. I bought this scale with the idea of pairing it with the Dymo turbo label writer. While I haven't purchased the later yet, the scale works fine on its on. When you connect to a computer and download the free Dymo weight scale program it gives you the cost for most letters to be mailed in the US. I haven't been disappointed in the scale, but thought the Dymo program that I downloaded from the web site could be more user friendly. If you want to make sure you are sending a letter out with the correct postage and know the maximum weight for a first class letter, you really don't have to connect to the Dymo site to use their scale. Subsequent attempts to power on either do the same thing, or the scale does nothing. Different USB ports, batteries installed, different computer, etc all yield similar results. Occasionally I can get it to stay on, but it is rare and in general the scale is useless. HOWEVER, I found out that if I hit the KG/LB button when the scale is powered off, the display shows START and the scale powers on and works from that point on. Of course make sure you hit the KG/LB button enough times to get to "oz" if that is your target units. This is my second one of these DYMO Digital Postal Scales. The first one my daughter borrowed and I got tired of waiting for her to return it, so I bought a new one, but I made sure it was the same brand. I use it all the time. Some times for the mail, some times for bagging food up in one pound packs and sometimes for weighing the cat, but never all at the same time. I like that it has no cord, but at first I was hesitant to buy a scale that wasn't electric. I got over it fast. The batteries in my first scale never had to be changed (at least I don't remember ever changing them out) and I had it for years. The batteries seem to last forever. I'm hoping the same is true with this new one.
I have had nothing but trouble with this scale. I even called the manufacturer and they sent me a new scale and now this one is also not working. Some of the problems include:--cuts off in the middle of use for no reason--constantly "drifts" so that I have to keep using the tare function to get an accurate weight--constantly need to turn the scale off and back on to get it to register on EndiciaI have been having problems finding a substitute for this poorly functioning scale so I continue to use it daily but it is really getting on my nerves. Avoid!!!!
The scale is solid and well built. The measurements are accurate. You can switch the units. It would be nice if there were an option for decimal pounds, but that's not too big a deal. The biggest flaw is that it has a short 3 minutes sleep timer, and there's no way to turn it off.
