DO NOT BUY - Stopped working only 3 years after purchase with light use

Very disappointing - wand has stopped working despite light use (a few times a month). I keep it in the storage case and it has been well cared for. After contacting support - I've been advised it would cost me $200 to service/fix. I only bought this item in 2019 (now 2022). I have been praising this item and advising friends to purchase. Now I regret this given how much it cost - do not recommend this if it can't even last 3 years! Would have expected better quality from Dyson. In contrast, I have a Parlux hairdryer which has heavy use by myself and partner for >10 years which is still going strong, as is my GHD straightener - both of which were significantly cheaper than this product. Waste of money.

It's easy to attach and has no problem with unruly or knotty hair. The barrel brush attachment is problematic. On two separate models using this for a short period of time actually caused the motor to stop and I think this could be a problem with overheating. It only happens sporadically but when it does work produces a great result. I'd love to see a rotating option that takes the hard work out of this one considering how easy everything else is to operate. The curling barrels - I LOVE USING THESE - The instant wow effect is so satisfying and it's so easy to do. It picks up the hair so well and the end result is so clean and smooth, especially when done from damp, it holds so well and I can do a whole head of curls in less than 20 minutes. There's not many machines on the market that can do THAT! Very cool. It feels like the most useful of the Dyson hair products as it's a whole package replacement, which totally justifies the higher price tag. It's quality and ease of use is fantastic and can turn anyone into a home hairdresser.

No amount of hair product, anti-frizz serum, hairspray stops this from happening. I have contacted Dyson many months ago, videos were suggested (which I watched), recommendations were given (which I did) and still the same result. I bought directly from Dyson, yet they told me to return it ‘retailer’ for refund. Repair was offered, but no information of a repair centre was given. I continue to use it, mainly because so much money was spent on it and I don’t want that kind of money wasted. So I continue to use it and look horrible. Expensive but worth it
17 October 2022

I thought for so long (years!) about buying this, and I have no regrets! I use all of the tools, but especially the dryer and the curling wands (I don't see much difference between the sizes, and generally use the bigger one). I like that it functions as a hair dryer, so I haven't needed to buy a hairdryer as well. It's easy enough to use, takes a bit of practice, but there are heaps of youtube tutorials out there. My hair is bouncy, soft and not frizzy when I use it. I have very fine hair that falls somewhere between an inch below of ears and just above my shoulders (bit like a bob). Downside is the cost, and that's the reason why I give 4 stars rather than 5.

Fantastic for fine, limp hair.
15 September 2022

I was so impressed with the matching hairdryer I decided to give this a go and am equally impressed. I have fine, limp hair and for decades have needed to use velcro rollers (very time consuming) with lots of product to get body in my hair. Now I use half the products, quarter of the time and the body lasts the whole day. Additionally the technology in the barrel and heat choices has made an enormous difference to the health of my hair especially combined with the matching dryer. No more split ends! Cord is long and highly moveable/flexible and all attachments do exactly what they say they'll do. Save up for this, you won't be disappointed.

It's ok

This product is okay. If i had the opportunity to return it or get something else, I would. It's very loud, rather heavy, bulky and not travel friendly. The curls look nice however for me they last minutes, literally, before they disappear completely. I gave better results with a curling iron. I like to use this to dry my hair when I dont have much time, it's good for that. I watch a lot of tutorials and instruction videos, I never ever get the smooth, frizz free results they seem to get. In all, try before you buy!

Not suitable for fine thin hair
9 August 2021

Purchased the airwrap. Appearing - highlighted and repeated - throughout the site when looking at the airwrap, is the 'complimentary embossing' offer. There is a "*" next to the complimentary offer - and it states "while stocks last". It does not make very clear that the complimentary offer voids your ability to access 45 day money back guarantee period. I purchased the airwrap in good faith - not knowing if it would suit my fine, thin hair. I researched as much as I could online, and believed, in good faith, this was a good purchase. That this product would be suitable for styling my hair. And - in big letters on the site - there was the 45 day money back guarantee (again, no asertix indicating that accepting their complimentary embossing would void this). Now, enquiring about how to return it under the 45 day money back guarantee, I am told that the free embossing has cost me $799 because I have a product that is not fit for purpose - that is, creating a style that will hold >1hr in my hair. You have a responsibility to ensure that purchases are just as clear on how a 'free offer' may have negative impacts on your lawful return rights.

Refurbished model arrived broken. 3 returns, 5 months, still broken, can't even get a manager to contact me!

HOWEVER mine came broken, and I can’t get it fixed, or have someone in management contact me about getting a new machine. It has honestly been the most DISGUSTING customer service of my life! HOWEVER mine came broken, and I can’t get it fixed, or have someone in management contact me about getting a new machine. It has honestly been the most DISGUSTING customer service of my life! It arrived faulty, I’ve sent it back 3 times for repair to have had it come back even more broken each time, I have provided video evidence of the faults, and been told I just have to send it back again for repair. It’s been over 5 months of this, and can’t get a manager to contact me. Here is the full story: I bought a Dyson Air Wrap, refurbished 5 months ago. It worked twice before I started to notice it wouldn't always turn on. My assumption is that it was overheating. As it would need to cool before working again. I returned it to be fixed, and apparently, the main barrel was changed. I got it working only once, and after that, it was worse than before. Maybe a 10% chance of it turning on. So I contacted Dyson, with video proof of what was happening, explaining it's probably the power chord. and that if it turns on, it stays on. But try again later and it wouldn't work. So I had to return it for assessment again. It came back. And didn't turn on at all this time. I asked what was repaired on it, and nothing was, as it was considered working. I asked if they viewed the videos they asked for as proof, and was told they couldn't view them. This was reoccurring even though I gave them in a format they said they could receive them in. I again sent video proof of the problem. With me opening it from the postage box not working. And showing other devices working on my power points. Something to also note in all this, is none of this info was put onto my profile until I spoke to someone over the phone. The videos didn't work until I spoke to someone on the phone. You also need the ability to edit videos down into a tiny file size to attach to email, since that's the only way they can receive them. Something I am able to do. But not something that is easily done by everyone. I was told it would need to be sent in for assessment AGAIN, since they found nothing wrong with it. I had a very long conversation about how they couldn't issue a new one until they had the current one in their possession to assess….again. After a lot of back and forth, I agreed to return it for the third time, so they could issue a different one. I was always clear that I didn't want a second one. I'm not trying to scam them, I just don't want this one back. I also believe the staff members when they say we can't flag this to a manager until they have the unit. Because I get it, these systems are purposely crap, and the lower staff members definitely do not get paid enough to deal with this crap and have no power. I've been in this type of system before. So at this point can't even get a manager to talk to me. Basically, managers will just tell the staff, I won’t speak to the person until we have the item, and can see that it is broken. Which is absolute crap service. So I sent it back, in the very long, slow covid mail. To get it back over a month later......still not working, as they just did the same thing as last time. They got it to turn on once. Let it run. Then returned it. Not doing anything to replicate my problem, of it rarely turning on. So here we are to the present day, where I was told I would need to send it in for the fourth time! I sent them new videos again showing it not working straight from the post. And have had to force someone to escalate the problem to a manager without me returning it. The $200 difference between a refurbished one and a new one was not worth this. At this point, I have requested for a refund. I don't trust getting a different refurbished one. I’ve been told I probably can't even get it in the colour I have, since they won’t have any more of them. I don't even trust they wouldn't say this is a new one, and they just give me the same one back again. I could also get another refurbished one and have it work for a month. But if it breaks again, then I would have to go through all this crap again. Also, the icing on the cake is because it's the Christmas period they said they might not have stock available to send me another one. I don't know why it is so difficult to have someone approve to get me a different one. After 5 months of my time talking to staff, sending it back, not being able to use it. Dyson should of just sent me a new one. It's $200 difference, which is nothing compared to all this that I've had to go through. It's the worst service I have ever come across, and the system is set up for failure. I haven't heard back about it. No one has contacted me since. I waited the full 7 business days to have someone contact me and then emailed the people I was speaking to. I just want my money back.

The only hair appliance you need. AMAZING
2 October 2021

I have used this once and cannot believe it. It does everything in.one appliance. I own high end products to curl, straighten, set hair and this does it all. Firstly it doesnt damage your hair like irons, straightening with a hot blower. It dries your hair gently but quickly, simply snap on a brush to straighten or curling attachments. Hold for 10 seconds or so, coolshot for 10 or 15 seconds and done. I only did a.top section.of hair then a bottom section. Grabbed small pieces.in each section and each curl was done in 30 seconds. Straight away my hair is smooth with soft bouncy curls in about 19 or 15 minutes. Dont hesitate. If you can afford it buy it. I didnt actually think it would be as good as it is. Ps it looks big but is really light and easy to use.

I bought the Dyson airwrap to replace my blow dryer and straightening iron. I have thick wavy hair that was constantly falling out and wouldn’t grow past my shoulders because of the damage from heat styling. I have thick wavy hair that was constantly falling out and wouldn’t grow past my shoulders because of the damage from heat styling. I had stopped colouring my hair years ago in an effort to stop the damage and try to grow my hair. I started using the air wrap a month ago. I watched all of the styling videos on YouTube and then just dove in and tried it out. It is very different to traditional stylers and takes a little while to understand how the technology works and develop the techniques that maximise the airwrap’s effectiveness but what I have found is that my hair is actually stronger and healthier and the style is much more natural (very healthy and shiny) than what I had achieved with the straightening iron or the blow dryer. I have used the curling barrels and had very bouncy curls all day long. I normally use the smoothing brush (time-poor remember) and what I end up with is something very unique. The hair is smooth but has healthy volume and it still seems to curve beautifully around my face. After a couple of days the rest of my hair starts to naturally wave with my natural waves/curls in my hair. My hair looks the way it did when I was a little girl. I didn’t expect to remember how my hair used to be before I started beating it into submission but I’m incredibly grateful to have a styler suddenly honouring my natural hair and enhancing it. I only rated the airwrap a four because it doesn’t beat the hair into submission which is what people are buying but I would rate it five stars for making my hair beautiful again. Another added benefit is that the hair blower attachment dries the kids hair so much faster than a normal blow dryer. And with the added benefit of never again accidentally burning a little ear. The older kids are able to attach the head and really enjoy drying their own hair too so it’s definitely saved me some time! I would suggest to anyone considering buying this product to consider your objectives. You may buy this with a hope for total submission and end up, like me, rediscovering that the healthy version of your hair is so much more attractive. Happy styling!
