I've waited months to write this review, and the anxiety and guilt I felt when I first purchased the Dyson Airwrap is long gone. Before taking the plunge, I had been using a cheapish hair-dryer-barrel-brush tool that gave me mediocre results, until a very scary day when it didn't sound like itself and started smoking while I was styling my damp hair. That burnt smell gave me nightmares, which then led me to consider upgrading to this Dyson. And after a bunch of "just do it don't you dare do it" conversations in my head, I rationalized that I could return it if I wasn't impressed (like no big deal, relax). Frequently I use the soft/flex brush attachment and simply run it through my dry hair right before I leave the house or minutes before I have to be on video conference for work. And when I'm being especially fancy (like for my brother's wedding), I use the other attachments to build some body and/or waves (I have some volumizing foam for those special occasions). For reference, I've been maintaining variations of a bob all year, with the longest section being the front sides just barely grazing my shoulders. My hair is fine, but I have a lot of it, and that "effortless" look was never easy for me to achieve until now. I don't use the bigger barrel because the smaller one works best with my length and the styles I'm going for. The rounded volumizing brush wasn't my favorite attachment, but I've barely given it a chance because I'm thrilled with the results I'm already getting with the others. So if that scary day had never happened, I would've continued making eyerolls over anyone telling me this thing is worth the price tag. I still think it's too expensive, yet I can't help but love it and all the compliments I get about my hair now.

The Dyson Airwrap is a well made product, which gives you the best results for any hair style you're going for. When I first used the air wrap, the air that came out of it was VERY strong. The blow drying attachment puts the air out in one place so your hair is not flying all over the place getting tangly. It allows you to blow your hair out in a natural way just like a regular blow dryer would but 10x stronger, taking less time to fully dry your hair. My mother, who has very curly hair, uses the round brush and it fully straightens her hair while getting rid of almost all of the frizz her hair has. The two brush attachments are very useful. My hair is naturally straight with a little wave to it but the brush attachments allow me to fully straighten my hair without using an iron at all. I use the blow drying attachment to blow dry my hair about 85% dry which takes me about 5 minutes total. Then I go in with the brush attachment and run it through my hair which completely straightens in within minutes and little run throughs in my hair. Between the two brush attachments, I can’t tell a huge difference on which one straightens my hair, although the one without the dots at the end of the brissels does make my hair more frizzy than the one with the dots. Now onto the Barrels! Those are what makes this THE airwrap. I’m going to be completely honest the barrels are a tad challenging to get the hang of using at first but once you learn how to use it, they give you the best volume, soft, natural curls. What I love about the barrels are that you can control how you want your hair to look. If you want a more tighter curl than you use the smaller barrels and wrap your hair around the barrel yourself. If you want a more loose voluminous curl, then use the larger barrels and let the air, wrap your hair around them itself. I also love how they give you two different directions. Personally I hate having my hair in my face and having two different directions allows me to turn my curls away from my face on both sides. I can say on the newer dyson, I love having just one barrel and not having to burn your fingers trying to switch attachments between the two barrel directions. Overall I love this product and I would recommend anyone with any hair type to get this product. I have had it for over a year and It still acts and looks just like I got it a year ago. If your thinking about getting it, the answer is YES! The price is high, but once you get it you will understand the price and the quality of this product.

The round brush is also fantastic at creating a 'curly-blow' look that looks natural and healthy.I find the style stays in place really well too, no worse than using curling tongs or straighteners. My hair also feels much more soft and healthy after styling - I find after using curling tongs that my ends feel 'crunchy' and dry, even after a cut or conditioning treatment, but this eliminates that altogether, instead leaving my hair soft, voluminous and shiny.I would definitely recommend to really ensure that your hair is damp, not wet, before you attempt to style. The first time I used this, my roots were still damp by the time I'd finished styling which caused the curls to drop. The Coanda smoothing attachment is also really great to use prior to styling if you are prone to fly-aways and sometimes frizzy hair. When I use this attachment before styling the finish is much smoother and glossy than without.This is definitely an expensive product for what it is, but if you're looking to treat yourself or someone else, and you want to maybe replace your other hair styling tools, I'd definitely recommend. There's no way I'll go back to traditional straighteners or curlers now!

It is my opinion the dyson performed better because the brush option gave more volume to my hair than the other brand, there was an obvious difference. They Dyson is quieter and cools down faster making it easy to change attachments quickly. The only con for me was the price but I’m still giving the five stars because I’ve used this air wrap every day since I’ve brought it home and I’m loving my hair again! I only wish this product was available 30 years ago.
