Great Stick Vac

The length of the stick allows me to get under and behind furniture and the ease of maneuvering for the largest vacuum head is easy on the wrist. I have the stand up docking station and all the extra tools, it's great! The docking station takes up little space and holds everything so conveniently. I would absolutely recommend this vacuum to others.

I'm writing this to provide a word about trouble shooting with the the V10. I bought one a few weeks ago because of its good reviews and easy maneuverability. But after I set it up in the charging dock and started to use it, it didn't always turn on when I pressed the trigger switch. However, when the power did engage, it worked great. I figured that there was a contact problem between the switch and the motor, so I called customer service for advice about this. They were gracious enough to send a new motor body, the part that has the switch. They also sent an email link to show how to easily replace the part. I figured replacing it would be easier than repacking everything and making a 60 mile round trip to the Costco where I bought it. Shortly before the new part arrived, I was noticed that the tiny filter light was flashing, but I hadn't vacuumed enough for it to be clogged but I checked it out anyway. I turned the cap a little and found that it wasn't screwed on as tight as it should be. Since I fixed that, the machine has worked perfectly. I didn't get anything from the instructions or from technical assistance warning to make sure that the filter cap is on tight. That would have avoided what we mistook as a defect. Now that the V10 works consistently, I love it. I'm a senior with lots of carpeting, and I really like the lighter and cordless V10 compared to the sweaty workout I get with my heavy corded vacuum. The V10 dust bin shows that it picks up as much or more dust as big vacuum does in the same amount of time, and it's so nice to be able get around many tight places and under furniture without getting tangled in a cord. In all, I'm now very happy with the V10 and the excellent customer service. But they should make it clear how important it is to have the filter cap tight.

Pros: Simple to use, cordless so easy to manoeuvre, great for a quick run around of the house though the battery power doesn't allow us to get the whole house done (house is large). We use the high strength setting for cleaning the car interior and it lasts about 10 mins max. On the medium setting, we get about 30 mins running power. It will often not pick up small items on the floor and just pushes them along, particularly if being pulled in the back direction. Is better going forward but not 100%. Have to go over areas a few times sometimes to pick up. The worst factor for us is that it scratched and ruined our stained timber hardwood flooring, on several occasions and with two different head. Dyson did replace the original head but new one does same. It will either get something small stuck in it (eg a frozen pea, a small leaf - it doesn't suck them up like a standard vaccum would) and it will drag along the floor and scratch. The spinning head also gets 'stuck' from time to time. This happens mid vacuum and it will stick and spin and happens so quickly that it's ruined the floor before you realise it's stuck. It has created many scratches on our floor (ruined the floor) a metre or so long (arm's length) before you realise what's happening and stop moving it. Based on this and destroying our floor, I wouldn't recommend it. If you have tiles or carpet, then it works pretty well.I generally use a standard vacuum to clean architraves, skirtings etc as I find it easier than the stick and having to change ends constantly. The standard vacuum is a quicker job and covers more area at a time than the stick. It's good for small areas (apartments, small rooms etc) which don't have hardwood flooring. For anything else, I wouldn't recommend it.

I Love My Dyson!
21 May 2023

I bought this as a birthday present for myself about 3.5 months ago. I LOVE the different suction levels and how much dust and fur it picks up. I have 3 medium-long haired cats, so I do touch up vacuuming every day. It works on my short "sticky" rugs that usually attract cat hair like Velcro. I can use it on my bath rugs that are a little shaggy - I do have to lift the head up a bit so it doesn't get stuck, but it works at the right angle. I vacuum my couch, my fuzzy bedspread, kitchen throw rug (with no problems), and hardwood floors.Sometimes it makes a high pitched whistling sound, I probably need to wash the filter. I may have filled it too much before emptying it a few times, when that happens the filter gets really warm and it smells like burning hair. I may have filled it too much before emptying it a few times, when that happens the filter gets really warm and it smells like burning hair. I'm more careful now. I've already had to take the head apart to pull my hair and fur out of the mechanism that spins the roller - but it's not that difficult. The battery power is pretty amazing, I'm not sure how other reviewers are experiencing a short battery life - Dyson needs to be plugged in all the time when not in use to maintain its charge. My V6 would last me through my small first floor and get me up the stairs before losing its charge. This V10 gets me through my entire house with leftover juice to do some detail vacuuming and even hit up the basement! It's definitely louder than the V6, but only one cat is afraid of it, lol. My V6 actually still works 9 years later with some duct tape holding it together - I use that one around litter boxes =D.As for the attachment tools, I really only use the skinny detail tool. I'll probably try the bendy one to get in some spots that I really can't get into with any other tools. I tried the fur one - it mostly just spits the fur back out in little clumps in a different spot. I have never had any success with any of the ones with brushes or the lint removing fabric. I don't understand the one with the brush above the plastic detail tool, what is that even for?! One other thing, I have NO CLUE how to install the wall attachment and there aren't any directions - I'm too lazy to look for a video. I can't even figure out how to get together like it was when it came out of the box!Overall, I really love it, and I'm getting old if a vacuum is the best gift I've bought for myself, ha!

I should have saved the $100 I spent on a cheap stick vac and gone straight to this Dyson V10 Absolute! We bought it on a Black Friday sale straight from the Dyson company, which also got us some free accessories. The thing that surprised me the most was how much suction it has on low. I've never had to use the highest (power burst) setting so far. It's quiet and light but works well on carpet with the power head. Using the mini powerhead in my van, it even picked up gravel on low. For carpeted stairs, the mini powerhead and crevice tool were waaaay easier than using my canister vac which always tumbles down the steps and trips me with the hose and cord. And for ladybugs on my ceiling, the long wand, a brush, and medium power did the trick.Be aware of your settings when you get it. My battery died soon (don't get excited yet!) but I didn't realize at first that it had several power levels and was on high when it wouldn't have needed to be. Also I found I hadn't plugged the charge cord in all the way, so of course it wasn't charging. And also I later read that it takes several charge sessions to reach full capacity. I addressed those things and it's never come close to dying again.Use the space-saving wall hanging system; it charges your vac every time you hang it so it's always ready to go. Or if you have more room, you can use the floor dock that stores your attachments too. But the wall one, if you hang it high enough, allows you to leave the pipe on the vac to charge, whereas the floor dock does not.Mostly pros. If any cons, it would be that this model's dirt tank is rather small and so needs emptying oftener. But I knew that when I chose this model and would rather have this than the extra weight and bulk. It does have a brainy quick emptying system, and you can plop the dirt right into a grocery bag if you like. Either way it's not a big mess. And I love that I don't need to buy bags for it!The most telling detail? I bought this as a touchup vac, BUT I've never gotten my big canister vac out again in the month since I got this. This V10 Absolute has become my main vacuum cleaner.

So far, so good!

We haven't had it but just a couple weeks, which is why I hesitated to go all-in with 5 stars. That said, so far it's a great vacuum. Is it worth the premium price tag? The boost mode is noticeably more powerful for bigger things or stubborn spots, but if you're using it on hardwood floors you should rarely need it. The boost mode is noticeably more powerful for bigger things or stubborn spots, but if you're using it on hardwood floors you should rarely need it. This is good because it's loud and a serious drain on the battery. It helps that I went into it realistic about what I could expect using our vacuum normally. It says 60 minutes, but that's without a motorized attachment (which the main attachments are) and on suction mode one. Using it normally, I expected about a half hour and I would say that's been fair to what I've seen, if not a little better. I do watch the cup and make sure to empty it frequently so it doesn't get too full and clog the filter. You have to detach the stick to empty, but it's extremely easy to do and takes next to no extra time to just pop it off on your way to the trash can. I don't have any issues holding the trigger down and, maybe my hands are tougher than I give them credit for being, but it's not uncomfortable at all to hold it down while vacuuming and I actually like being able to quickly turn it on and off as I go. I do wish the battery was easily detachable, but Dyson reserves that feature for their most expensive models and I won't be spending $1000 on a stick vacuum...ever.Overall, I'm happy with our V10 and the attachments seem really nice although I haven't had a chance to use most of them yet. It certainly feels like a premium machine and, honestly, doesn't cost that much more than some of the competing high end stick vacuums these days (especially if you buy on a good sale, which we did). For me though, the biggest test will be time. I expect this vacuum to last us 10 years or longer and it will take at least five of consistent quality and no breakdowns for me to feel the cost is justified. My biggest thank you goes to Dyson for licensing a toy company to replicate their products. It's an older style, but my vacuum loving 3 year old is OBSESSED with our new Dyson and is going to absolutely love getting his own on Christmas morning 🙂

THE WORST OF THE WORST

Unfortunately, I purchased a Dyson cordless vacuum. This was one of the worst purchases I have ever made. First and foremost, the vacuum does not pick up dirt even when it is on the highest suction setting. Indeed, immediately after using the Dyson, the floor needs to be swept because the Dyson does not do what it is supposed to do. Second, the trigger switch that turns the vacuum on is very poorly designed. It puts pressure on my finger which is quite painful. I would guess that the Dyson executives have never used the Dyson vacuum. If they had used it, the trigger switch would have been designed differently. Fourth, it is very difficult to empty the dirt/dust bin. Dyson claims that there is no need to touch the dirt when emptying the dust bin. That is an outright lie. In order to empty the bin, I have to squeeze my hand up into the bin to pull the dust and debris out. Fifth, the Dyson vacuum is absurdly over priced compared to other vacuums which are infinitely better than the Dyson. In sum, the Dyson vacuum is the worst vacuum that I have ever had in terms of functionality, performance, and user friendliness. I for one will never buy another Dyson product. It is my individual, personal, subjective opinion, belief, and interpretation that I was ripped off by Dyson. The Worst Vacuum I've ever owned!
26 July 2022

I purchased this vacuum to replace another Dyson. I was excited to start anew with a cordless. I had too high expectations for this one and for the price I would have expected more from it. First, my requirements for this vacuum were to be able to go over bare floors as well as carpet, simple right? Over the bare floors it was great but it was unable to move on any of my carpets, throw rugs or otherwise. There is no adjustment for multiple piles. Second, there is no light on this machine. I've purchased cheaper vacuums which come with lights and it's one of the best features! Third, the battery life is horrible! If you're thinking you can vacuum a 2200 sq home without recharging the battery you would be wrong! I had too high expectations for this one and for the price I would have expected more from it. If you're thinking you can vacuum a 2200 sq home without recharging the battery you would be wrong! Fourth, as simple as it sounds or maybe petty this vacuum does not have a lock button. Meaning when you vacuum you must physically hold the power button the entire time. It's not a big deal if you are cleaning a small area quickly however when you're running the vacuum throughout the entire house it becomes a nuisance and creates a blister on your trigger finger. I thought I was holding it too aggressively but I'm now creating a callus from having to clean with this machine. I have owned 4 Dyson machines. I loved them all and even wore them out only to replace them with another Dyson. I've finally purchased other vacuums for cheaper price points that have all these features and are able to clean just as well if not better. This is the worst vacuum I have ever owned.

Way better than expected

Who knew vacuuming could be fun?! I actually enjoy vacuuming because I can instantly see how much dust and pet hair I'm picking up - and it's a lot! I've had this vacuum for about 2 weeks and I use it nearly every day. I never knew cordless could be such a game-changer. We have a regular canister vacuum for whole-house cleaning that's done bi-weekly but for high traffic areas, I use the Cyclone V10 and it's a dream! I'm amazed at the suction and it's ability to pick up way more dirt than I ever thought a cordless vacuum could handle. Without having to worry about the cord, I can cover a 1,000 sq ft area without any problem. If there were 2 things I could change about this vacuum it would be the power button and the battery life. The power button is a trigger that you have to hold down. There's no mechanism in place to lock it so it requires a bit of strength. Due to this alone, I wouldn't recommend this vacuum as your only vacuum unless you have a smaller house or apartment that you can quickly do in 20-min. Same goes for the battery - on low power you may be able to get an hour (doubtful) but once you kick it up to the medium power setting you'll only be able to get 20-30 minutes out of it. I keep it charged in between vacuum sessions so it's ready to go when I need it again. I haven't had any issues with hair tangles. The attachments are great. This is a well-thought cordless vacuum that has me loyal to the Dyson brand going forward.

I love my Dyson v10, I decided to get one after my job got the v8. The versatility and power of Dyson vacuums is unmatched. I was really confused and skeptical about this particular model due to a lot of negative reviews. I decided to go for it after a co worker telling me she loved her v10 so much. I love it and can tell the difference between the v8 and this model and love this one so much more. V10 is strong and holds a good charge for a long time, I have small studio in NY and I charge it maybe once every two weeks and I vacuum everyday… those people who are complaining did not read the description. If you put it on boost the power does no last because that’s how powerful it is but in all honesty you don’t need to run it at boost if you maintain cleanliness ... MoreI love my Dyson v10, I decided to get one after my job got the v8. My floors felt instantly cleaner on the first last and I don’t have random crumbs on feet after vacuuming like I used to with my previous vacuum. I was in between this model and the v12 but the only difference is the size/weight and technology telling you how many dusts particles you picked up… the specs and test results are nearly identical on the two models with a wide price gap… personally, I don’t really care about how many dust particles I picked up so I saved myself 300$ and went with the v10.
