As far as stick vacs go, the Dyson is the best. However, it really depends on what you're looking for.It is excellent for the quick daily run-around but oh my... if you're planning on smashing out a thorough top to bottom clean of the whole house, this is NOT the machine you want.Firstly, the ergonomics. You're carrying and maneuvering around the majority of the weight with your wrist. That is not only tiring but also completely cumbersome to handle, especially with shorter brush attachments.Suction: Yes it definitely sucks on Turbo, but you will be chewing through batteries like crazy. A big motor has much more power and doesn't need to spin as fast, therefore also quieter. On "Auto" the suction in combination with the spinning roller attachment is juuuuuust good enough. But you have to move it around fairly slowly. So, again if you want to smash out a top to bottom deep clean of the entire house, the stick vac is not your friend! You definitely want a corded power house that gets stuff done. The Pros, this is mostly likely the best stick vac you can buy.Looks good, works good, well designed, the charging stand is great, the container can be emptied easily etc.The spinning brush attachment for carpets works really well.3 star rating explained. If you compared this stick vac to other stick vacs on the market you'd have to give it 5 stars. However it is far from cheap and imo you definitely need a proper corded vac in addition to this one, which makes it a bloody expensive "nice to have" toy.

We bought this machine because, as an older couple, we were tired of lugging a VERY heavy corded vacuum up and down stairs in order to (effectively) clean our area rugs. We also had two lightweight cordless stick vacuums for our hardwood and tile floors - one upstairs and one downstairs. This purchase has allowed us to replace THREE machines with a single light-weight - effective - machine! We purchased the unit that came with a spare battery and charger only to find the battery was defective, not to worry, Customer support sent us a replacement battery - not the same color but … who cares … REALLY? Anyway, with the second battery I am able to vacuum all hard and carpeted floors in my house without problem. I will say that eco mode (the MOST battery ‘saving’ mode) does very little for me, and ‘Auto’ mode is not much better. For effective cleaning in MY house the machine needs to be in ‘Boost’ mode at all times - but that’s not the machine’s fault, that’s the fault of having a long-haired white German Shepherd and a fluffy cat!! I’m sure if neither were quite so fluffy and ‘shed-dy’ I wouldn’t need to utilize the batteries in that way. I can also clean said dog and cat hair throughout my entire home and only HAVE to empty the canister when I am done so the capacity is outstanding! I love the weight - a little more than a third the weight of my previous (Dyson) corded vac, I love the fact that by replacing three machines for one I’ve made more room in my home!

I purchased this just before Christmas and I really recommend it. So many design changes have been done to rectify previous models faults. The bin opening is amazing compared to the previous one, and it doesn’t all get stuck in the input of the bin like it used to, The additional tool in the long stalk is an amazing idea, The washable filters as previous models have been it’s just really nice as it’s a HEPA filter as well. Minor really has a little bit of it they have started peeling on the edges.Cleaning this machine is so much easier than the previous models including not having to hold down a trigger the whole time it’s just a button for on and off. I’d like a sad already the dustbin empty and the filters. Even the brush heads have all been simplified to make us a lot easier and hygienic in the way that we are able to wash them.Is really good and while it’s not the full 70 minutes obviously this all depends on the needs of what your floor cleanliness levels are already So I think it is a fair amount of battery life and saying that the recharge time is very quick. If it’s something you were debating about getting, I would definitely recommend it. I have no regrets. Also so happy that now are able to replace the battery as a click and go for those extra big cleans if you decide to purchase the additional battery.

I bought Gen5 Detect Prussian Blue Nov 24. Overall there is an improvement over V11 Absolute in vacuum suction power but not in quality of component dustbin, housing handle and wand assembly materials. The V11 appears to have better materials quality in some areas. The Gen5 wand assembly deflects/bends compared to V11, appears to be plastic as opposed to aluminium tube, probably for weight saving. The Gen5 dust bucket operation is stiff to slide when emptying, with the red gasket having an interference/closer fit to fine mesh metal screen as it travels downward, requiring more force to move downwards to open and putting excessive force on red dust open lever assembly. It may improve with exercise and usage but it feels flimsy and may fail prematurely, probably ... MoreI bought Gen5 Detect Prussian Blue Nov 24. It may improve with exercise and usage but it feels flimsy and may fail prematurely, probably outside of 2 year guarantee. Battery Life is improved as it is now has more cells and higher voltage (36v?). Laser fluffy head floor cleaner is an improvement over V11 as is motor head which continues to drive into carpet pile, lifting flattened piles as it continues to maintain higher suction compared to V11 due to head torque loading sensing and unique Gen5 main housing dirt analysis. The dirt analysis on-screen display is good but is almost superfluous in its information, almost trying to convince you that it is actually sucking up microscopic dirt, just in case you don't believe. The Gen5 is a good machine, doesn't feel heavy to manoeuvre, very well balanced in the hand but the V11 is not far behind and it's price difference may not be worth it unless you can get a deal.
Purchased this vacuum as we needed to replace the v11, this was a reluctant but at the sameTime needed purchase. Basically I did work for Dyson once for a long time, and the v11 was more or less given to me to try out and keep - a staff perk at the time, and was an awesome machine , however the motor died, and back order is too long to wait for a replacement part, but my other half, was not prepared to wait. So we took the Black Friday offer at John Lewis and bought the new one, yes could have bought a less expensive version , but thought why not go for the singing all dancing available, you would only be kicking yourself if you didn’t the new features are well worth it. This machine is very expensive, let’s not forget that, but once you go stick , and cord free you don’t back to corded. Which we did for a while with a dc50, not that enjoyable! So is this machine any good, too right it is (and remember I don’t work there no more, still doing great stuff!) what’s good, the motor, the detachable battery, the crevice tool inside the main tube , is a game changer for spot cleaning. The fluffy tool with the green light on flat surfaces is ‘wow’ who came up with that idea, proper amazing invention! And addictive! (Is that sad to say that?) any negatives, it is a bit heavy, but with all the features balances out the trade off. And the hair de-tangle feature of the carpet rollers is a mint design too. Looks anyone wanting to buy , try the thing out , and go for it !

I thought my lovely DC02 had died, hence this purchase, but no, it was just the yellow wall plug that needed replacing, so now I have both the oldest and the newest Dyson versions. The big barrel and wider brush head on the stick is a must have, so quick and easy. At first I was a bit concerned as the wide brush head (for both rugs and hard floors) was very hard going on my thick Persian rug. However, after a few uses, and adjusting the floor height slider and suction level, the head seemed to loosen up and settle down. (My old Dyson also had a bit of trouble with this rug.) This same wide carpet brush works perfectly on my lighter outdoor style rugs, so does the soft head for that matter. The wide carpet head makes a bit of a noise on my uneven tiled floors, so I find the soft hard floor head (which is ever so silent) a better choice when my cats are "helping". The amount of dirt this vacuum picks up (on a daily basis) is amazing. The light on the soft hard floor head shows every tiny bit of dust and fur, particularly good for blind people like me!Over all I am very happy with this purchase. I am also pleased to have my corded machine working again as it is required to do up very high (cathedral ceilings) to get down all the cobwebs etc.., not so good using the stick (doesn't reach up high enough) and having the dirt canister directly above the motor unit whilst doing ceilings worries me a bit, though one could always empty it first I suppose. Thanks Dyson.
The wider head cleans faster. The suction is strong and picks up dirt quickly. I can vacuum the whole house without having to empty the dirt cup. I don't think it would be easy to use on carpeting but works well on hard floors and large area rugs. The attachments that came with the machine are helpful, especially the one that allows the motor head to lay flat to reach under furniture. The motor head has a low profile to reach under all my furniture. That said, it's heavier than the smaller units and more difficult to handle. You can't use it on throw rugs. The red lever to open and empty the dirt cup is so awkward, I'm always afraid that I'm going to break it trying to open it. More than half the accessories are out of stock, even the basic filters. I purchased the attachment to use for cleaning ceiling fans from a seller on eBay. I also bought a new dirt cup for my old V10 from this seller after waiting almost a year for Dyson to fail to restock it. There are youtube videos that walk you through how to deep clean the various parts following Dyson recommendations which are more helpful than just the printed pictures from Dyson. I think it's really helpful if you can find somewhere to actually try the vacuum in person before buying on line. The vacuums are well made but quirky.
After reading the various reviews, I decided to try on myself, it’s incredibly powerful and auto gives me about half an hour to get around my bungalow. I’ve never had carpets so clean, even fresh mud trampled in by someone it will lift up. I’ve got osteoporosis and I don’t find it that heavy, it’s a case of getting used to it and holding it at the right angle. It’s a good looking machine and to be honest it doesn’t need to be as it’s a tool it but does make some other vacuums look a bit ugly. I guess aesthetics, even apply to vacuum cleaners, but the design of it with the tools hanging on the dock the crevice tool being built into the main wand and the fact that you can empty it without getting your fingers covered in dust, make it a great device and I quite like ... MoreAfter reading the various reviews, I decided to try on myself, it’s incredibly powerful and auto gives me about half an hour to get around my bungalow. I guess aesthetics, even apply to vacuum cleaners, but the design of it with the tools hanging on the dock the crevice tool being built into the main wand and the fact that you can empty it without getting your fingers covered in dust, make it a great device and I quite like looking at how much stuff it’s picked up and overtime my carpets have got cleaner and and the bars show green mostly. I never thought I would be interested in what my vacuum cleaner picked up, but the display is interesting and scary at times, especially when you realise some of those things being picked up are dust mites and skin flakes. I would say this is my best Dyson so far, the last one being a Big Ball Cinetic which I thought was doing a good job until it died. I used the new one the following day and I was devastated how little the previous machine was picking up compared with this one. I managed to get my Gen 5 Detect while it was on offer, full price is way too expensive no matter how good a machine it is. Also, the way Dyson change how tools connect on each generation means you have to by new tools as they don’t always fit and £45 for a spare filter is expensive.Dyson should look at are their design ethics to make sure you don’t have to buy tools again, most tools should be interchangeable across generations of machines tbh and no matter how much recycled materials goes into their machines, it has to be better for the planet to re-use tools rather than just throwing yet more plastic away.
It's got a lot of power and suction, and the dust sensors are cool, but functionally, this isn't a good vacuum. I've previously had at least four other Dysons and although I was a little worried it might be too big, I really thought I'd like this one, too. Unfortunately, I think Dyson missed the mark with this one. It's too large for a rechargeable, making it hard to use effectively with any attachments other than the main two cleaning heads. However, both of those heads were problematic as well. The powered head hops and vibrates on hard floors, making it unusable. On carpet, the plastic construction can't properly support the strain created due to the suction power, causing the roller brush to rub against the plastic guard, making a loud sound. On carpet, the plastic construction can't properly support the strain created due to the suction power, causing the roller brush to rub against the plastic guard, making a loud sound. On higher pile carpet, it sucks so hard that it will bind itself down. The hardwood attachment works well moving slowly forward, but it tends to throw dust around when pulling backwards. With the green laser shining, every bit you throw back into the clean track shows up, forcing you to go back over the same spot multiple times. Between that and it's small width, it takes forever to vacuum even a small area. That said, Dyson did honor their warranty and allowed me to return it for a refund. I'll still but another Dyson, just not this one.
We have a single story home with hardwood floors and a golden retriever, we loved our vacuum at first when we purchased it Dec 2021, until it broke. One of the vacuum head wheel axles broke inside the housing and unable to fix. This happened in June 2024 and we called customer service which, by the way, always takes at least an hour of your time every time you call, and were told we were beyond the two year warranty and we could buy a new head. This was frustrating but understood however the part was out of inventory and we would be contacted when it was back in stock in 2 months. This seemed a bit long for a part to be out of inventory but we waited. We were never notified and I called in August, same one hour experience, to be told it is still out of stock. I called in September then October with the same experience and the same answer. I finally lost patience and called in November and the same experience, waited for over an hour after requesting to speak with a supervisor. They are unable to call customers so you have to wait on hold for a supervisor. Collectively between my wife and I, we've spent hours on the phone with customer service and the issue was never resolved as the last time I waited for over 90 minutes and they never found a supervisor. I couldn't wait any longer. It appears the only resolution is to buy a new vacuum which is greatly disappointing. As much as I love this product, Dyson customer service experience is awful and they do not stand behind the quality of their products. I recommend buying a shark vacuum as they're cheaper but have decent performance and if it breaks, it's cheaper to replace versus the expensive Dyson...and you'll save hours of your time and aggravation.

Dyson Gen5outsize Cordless Vacuum - Blue
The cordless Dyson Gen5outsize has the suction power of a corded vacuum. It has Hepa filtration for our deepest, most hygienic clean. It's engineered with the larger size, power, intelligence, and additional run time to deep clean larger spaces. It has a 25% wider cleaner head and 150% larger bin compared to the Dyson Gen5detect, as well as twice the run time. The Dyson Gen5outsize covers more floor with each pass and allows for more cleaning between bin emptying and charges. It intelligently optimizes suction power based on floor type and debris picked up. The Lcd screen indicates when to keep cleaning an area and when to move on. The Fluffy Optic cleaner head reveals invisible dust on hard floors. The extra wide de-tangling Digital Motorbar Xl cleaner head deep cleans carpets and hard floors without tangles. Its versatile cordless format transforms into a handheld vacuum with one click, and the wand detaches to reveal a ready-to-go tool for continuous cleaning.
