I have owned my Dyson blow dryer for 2 years, I bought it in 2019 for Christmas, and didn’t start using the product until Christmas 2019. Through out the last two years, I can’t say anything negative about this blow dryer. It functions amazing, and the attachments make the hair dry so quickly. I don’t use it in a salon or professionally, I have only used it on my hair lightly over the last couple years. Last week, I was in the middle of blow drying my hair, and the blow dryer just stopped. I saw my two year warranty expired a week prior, but I thought I would call Dyson to see if there was anything they could do for me. They refused to do anything and said they would not help me get it fixed, I would have to pay for the repairs. I was really disappointed by the customer service. Beware of the warranty, and know it’s likely after two years the blow dryer won’t work anymore and you’re out $400. I wasn’t interested in paying for repairs on this product.

I cannot adequately explain how much I love love LOVE my Dyson Supersonic hair dryer!! I have natural 4c hair, which means it's simultaneously coily and wavy and curly and can be hard to manage. For those times when I want to silk press my hair into a straight style, it would take forever...but not anymore! The hair dryer plus comb attachment takes an almost hour long process and reduces it to mere minutes. Plus...the dryer does such a great job of applying just the right amount of tension and heat while straightening my hair that I oftentimes don't have to pass a straightening iron or straightening comb through my hair afterwards to achieve a sleek look!If I want my natural coils and curls to shine through, a quick zap with the diffuser attachment is all I need. ... MoreI cannot adequately explain how much I love love LOVE my Dyson Supersonic hair dryer!! I have had a Dyson blow dryer for a while now and have to say that I absolutely LOVE this dryer. It dries my hair extremely quick and with NO frizz. I have given this product just one star because it has turned into a total let down. let me start with he filter cover. Mine has broken a few times and when I call to get it replaced I get the wrong filter cover sent and now I hav like 6 alter covers for other hair dryers. I have the professional model but use it at. he for myself. So if I use it at home, what could I do, dry my hair once a day maybe everyday? Well I have called numerous times because the dryer shuts off after like 30 seconds and I have to keep turning it on and off. Well I have called numerous times because the dryer shuts off after like 30 seconds and I have to keep turning it on and off. I have been told that the filter needs to be cleaned and it is a safety feature if it gets too hot. Well I may agree with that if I was in a salon drying 6 heads a day one right after the other but I am not. I and drying 1 head once a day. why should at this price have to clean the filter every day and why on earth should it shut off after like 30 seconds. I LOVE this dryer and I am devastated. I have called several times while it was under warranty but now I just hear that there is nothing they can do. I have tried a different dryer and hate it!!! I want my Dyson! I wanted to give this a 5 star but I can't because it should not shut off and I am annoyed. I hope things changed with this product because it is awesome except it shuts off. its hard toot recommend the dryer cause when it works it is incredible but...
I have had this dryer for about 5 years. After the first year (out of warranty) I had to have it repaired because it kept overheating and turning off. The tech said it was design flaw and I would need to keep the vent clean. Which I do faithfully. It began to happen again, my husband you-tubed how to open the filter and clean it. All good for little while longer, but now it is happening again. But now the screws to the filter are stripped and cannot be fixed at home, so will need an expensive repair.I am just disappointed because a $400+ machine should not have this in under 5 years.I love the way it dries my hair and that I am not sweaty after doing my hair. But hate that it overheats and turns off 5 times while doing my shoulder length fine hair.
Purchased this hair dryer 4 years ago and it still looks brand new. The filter was cleaned on a regular schedule. I took very good care of this hair dryer. It quit working while I was drying my hair and I contacted customer service. They walked me through multiple testing and even faced timed me so they could look at the hair dryer. Was told the filter looked cleaned and the hair dryer was in excellent condition and I should take it to a Dyson Service Center to have the fuse checked and replaced if needed. Contacted the Service Center and they said no Dyson Hair Dryer can be repaired. They can check the fuse but there is no way to replace the fuse without destroying the hair dryer. Take my advice and purchase a cheaper hair dryer because it will last as long as the Dyson and you won’t be disappointed..
As I stated in the title, I have curly hair (below shoulder length, fine, low-density, 2b/c curls) so I will not be speaking of the straight hair attachments.First glance: No doubt, the Dyson supersonic hair dryer is very sleek and stylish. It is a very good-looking dryer! The buttons are cute and fairly small, which does not take away from the design of this dryer. Love the finish and the color choices. Personally, I would have not combined the Prussian blue with the copper, would have used rose gold instead of the copper, but that is only a personal preference. The Dyson definitely helped to reduce drying time! It is fast and efficient.Love that there are multiple speed and heat settings! It is fast and efficient.Love that there are multiple speed and heat settings! However, as a curly-girl, I prefer my heat a little lower, even lower than the lowest setting on this dryer. Speed, same! I prefer to start and finish with a lower speed, that does not blow my curl-clumps apart. I don’t think I will ever use the highest setting for either the temperature or the speed!ProsWeight: The dryer is not awfully heavy, so your arm won’t get tired holding it, even for a longer period. This is also due to the shortness of the head since you don’t have to have your arm extended to hold it away from your head. It has a comfortable grip and a long enough handle.Sound: Absolutely LOVE how quiet it is! Although my kitties are not crazy about the supersonic whistling sound of it. However, if you have someone sleeping in the next room, or even in the same room, it most likely will not disturb them. It is that quiet!Filter: Since my dryer is fairly new, I have not had to clean the filter yet, but it is an excellent option to include a washable filter. The placement of the filter/air intake is also super convenient!Intake: If you have long hair and you ever had your hair get sucked into the air intake, you will appreciate this dryer! I had my hair ripped out and damaged by getting sucked into the air intake way too many times with other dryers. It will not happen with the Dyson. This is HUGE for me!Cord: The length of the cord is fabulous. My outlet is on the other side of my bathroom counter and did not have to struggle to stay close since the cord is sufficiently long. The cord is on the thicker/bulkier side, so it’s not as easy to wrap up for storage as others. The "brick" people mention on the cord is there, but for me, it rests on my counter, but so far, it has not bothered meConsButtons: While I love how small and cute the buttons are, they just aren’t very user-friendly. Anatomically speaking the buttons are on the wrong side of the handle. What I mean is, if you wrap your hand around or grip the handle, the buttons will be under your palm instead of your fingers which is what most people use to press the buttons with. Us curlies, we like to pixy-diffuse, which is when you place your hair in the diffuser, then turn the dryer on, to help keep the curl clumps as they are. Because the button is on the opposite side of the handle, it is very awkward and inconvenient to achieve!Due to the placement of the cold-shot button, you can accidentally press it with your palm while holding the dryer. The size of the buttons could also be a tad larger because let’s be honest, not everyone has tiny fingers, which I do. Even with my tiny fingers, I still found the buttons slightly difficult to use, especially the cold-shot and on-off buttons – which the placement of the buttons makes it even more awkward. And now the airflow or speed buttons. Again, they look cute and symmetrical (perfect for the OCD part of my brain), however, I much rather prefer a multiple rocker or multiple position slide on-off button on the (correct side of the) handle for easy and convenient access during drying. With the buttons being on the back of the head, I must remove the dryer from my hair, and use both hands while looking at it to switch speeds. NOT convenient! The temperature button is also located on the back of the head. This does not bother me, because I don’t change the temperature settings during drying as I do with the airflow.Diffuser: I like how they thought of including a diffuser with the dryer. Unfortunately, this diffuser just doesn’t cut it. Especially, if you are used to a larger, deeper diffuser. Even though my hair is only below shoulder length, and I don’t have a ton of it, I still prefer a larger, deeper diffuser for better definition. Fortunately, there are clever people out there who find a way around just about anything. Therefore, there are a few hacks out there on how to use a deeper, larger diffuser with your Dyson hairdryer. I wish they would have asked us curlies before designing the diffuser so we wouldn’t have to rely on hacks to be happy with the results.Overall, the dryer is fantastic, but there are things that could be better. Therefore, due to the price, if I purchased the dryer on my own, it would be going back to the store! Since it was a present, I will keep it. I do hope that in time they will redesign the dryer and make it more convenient and user-friendly. With the above-mentioned issues fixed, this could be an excellent hairdryer.
After owning the Dyson hair dryer for just 3 years, it broke down. Despite reaching out to customer service for assistance, their unhelpful and rude response was simply to "just buy a new one." This was a frustrating experience, especially considering the high price of the product. On the other hand, we've hair dryers from other brand for over 10 years without any problems, clearly durability and longevity is not something Dyson is very good with.Although the Dyson was good when it was working, it is disappointing that it did not last long and the customer service experience was less than satisfactory. Hope other people take these factors into consideration before investing in a high-end product like this hair dryer.
I actually have the black/purple hair dryer. I like it for the most part. The cord is heavy, which it probably needs to be or it wouldn't be. I do like that it doesn't make overwhelming noise, it is rather a soothing sound, which is great, my ears hurt with loud hair dryers. The only thing I really don't like about this hair dryer is I feel the buttons are on the wrong side of the dryer. I like to have the buttons so I can see and change their settings if need to. This hair dryer buttons are on the outside , so good for professionals, but not for personal use in my personal opinion. If you want to change a setting you have to turn the dryer around to see what you're doing, which takes time and coordination, you do get used to where the buttons are as your drying ... MoreI actually have the black/purple hair dryer. If it wasn't for the soothing sound I would have returned it because of the setting buttons not being where I like them. I don't think any personal hair dryers have setting buttons on the outside of the hair dryer.
Fair warning: My machine stopped working less than a year after the end of warranty. I contacted Dyson. They told me to take it for repair. The repair is over $150 before taxes, etc. so approaching 1/2 the cost of the machine. For a $400 + machine I expect more than 3 years working life. The power feed has failed and the cord needs replaced. I then contacted Dyson about my concern with the early demise of my model: No response. I'm left with a non-working device, and no support.I thought Dyson stood behind its products. Don't waste your money.
