Best Cordless Dyson, for now.

At full boost, the battery will run down in sub 10 minutes, although clever marketing might make it seem like you’d get a full 60 minutes if you don’t read carefully. The auto settings are a good happy medium, with the Dyson able to detect if it needs to allocate a quick boost to suck up more stubborn/larger particles, however for legacy Dyson users (used to the superior and non time limited 306AW) or people who like the power of a commercial vacuum, it can leave you a little wanting. To test whether or not the boost vs auto made much of a difference, I tested with the lights off, and vacuumed a standard hardwood floor. Dyson adverts typically show the user walking in a straight line seamlessly sucking up the path ahead, so this was the approach taken to ensure accurate repro. On auto, at first look, the Dyson missed some areas on first pass, as well as struggled with elevated parts of the flooring. Boost picked up particles no problem, but at the expense of the battery life. The laser sees *everything* missed, but also might make you even more of a clean freak. For spot checking (on plush animals, furniture and cushions), boost worked well and I could complete most tasks within the 10 minute time constraints. 4.5 hours seems like a long time to wait before being able to use the device again however especially with quick charge technology available in 2022.Pros:• Best Cordless Dyson in North America today.• Laser is amazing.• LED is great for toggling between settings and validating the work that has been done.• Boost is nothing to scoff at.Cons:• Very short battery life on boost.• Tool clip and nozzle shipped in *free additional tools* non-compatible.• As with most Dyson products, the fact they are made from silicon/plastic works as a magnet to attract dust and I find dust on the exterior of the housing on most days. One last piece, not exclusively related to the Dyson V15 Detect Absolute, but related to the items received in the bundle, the tool (specifically the noozle), did not fit flush in the tool clip which allows you to connect 2x tools to either the dock or the wand. I tried alternating all tools, angles, tightness of the clip, and still could not get the nozzle to fit without protruding (show in image), so came to the conclusion this is was missed in their considerations design. There is another nozzle (and light nozzle) which should fit onto the tool clip, but this did not ship in the tool bundle, and, would cost additional to buy. Either the tool clip needs to be redesigned to compensate for the added rim around the nozzle shipped or, this should be remedied through replacement program.• Not too heavy (can also be held with both hands for added weight distribution).

I finally found the deal I was willing to pay for the V15 Detect from Dyson. I actually am very happy that I purchased this product. The vacuum is the perfect size and weight. It works very well across my house with different floor types. I love the multiple tools that come with this vacuum and have actually used all of them for different purposes. I thought that the Laser Slim Fluffy would be a gimmick, but it is truly amazing seeing all of the dirt and debris on the floor, that you would never know was there, and being able to ensure everything was sucked up.The real negative with this vacuum is battery life on carpet. While vacuuming carpet you will be lucky to get 20 minutes of run time. For a "normal" sized house that will not get you very far and it will take three to four hours to recharge the battery. Running on linoleum and hardwood floors significantly improves the battery life which should give you close to the 60 minute* run time they advertise.I bought my V15 during a sale that came with the Complete Cleaning Kit and the Floor Dok. As stated previously, I have used all of the attachments that are provided with the vacuum and am happy to have them. If the Floor Dok does not come included in the price of the vacuum, DO NOT buy it separately for $150 (should cost about $20). It is nothing more than a simple pole on a stand and does not even come with its own charger...you have to use the one provided with the vacuum.Overall, I am happy with my purchase. I would recommend Dyson vacuums to my friends. The vacuum works exceptionally well picking up any debris it runs across. Just give it a second thought if your home is mostly carpet because this becomes a very expensive "dust buster" if so.

So I actually received this item as a gift from a friend in Brand New condition. He is extremely kind and ordered all the bells and whistles; Pet Grooming Attachment Kit, Cleaning Kit, extra Extension Hose, you name it. I have several issues with this model and the kits though. The largest attachment (vacuum head) has no light on it at all. It baffles me that that is the case on a vacuum at this price point. We are trying to figure out how to add one ourselves to help us see fur on the floor. A light on the large attachment head to help see fur on the floor when not using the smaller green laser attachment head would have made a huge impact on our experience with this model. I would love to see the laser on both honestly. The other issue I have is with the pet ... MoreSo I actually received this item as a gift from a friend in Brand New condition. A light on the large attachment head to help see fur on the floor when not using the smaller green laser attachment head would have made a huge impact on our experience with this model. I would love to see the laser on both honestly. The other issue I have is with the pet grooming kit. You have to hold the trigger down on the vacuum while using it which is tiring and difficult when you are also trying to reach and groom the dog. Add on to that the attachment itself has a relatively rigid coil in the hose that causes the hose to keep trying to condense down while using it. The attachment brush itself requires holding down a lever like thing to get the brush pins out. Meaning you are expending effort to hold down the button, extend the relatively rigid hose, and also trying to press down the attachment head so that the brush is usable. This is just unreasonable to do while trying to brush an animal. I will note we did try ordering an additional attachment hose in order to lessen the strain while brushing that occurs when trying to extend the hose, but it was only a few inches when not extended, and maybe 12 inches or so when extended. Adding a separate always on button as opposed to the trigger function would also add great relief and free up a hand while grooming. The brush would also be less demanding if the pins were always out and you instead pushed the lever thing to release the fur off the pins. Hope they keep making improvements. Unrelated, but I am a huge fan of the Dyson heaters btw!

Love this hoover! Don't be too put off the negative reviews!
30 March 2023

I bought this hoover a month ago, after doing some extensive research and reading a lot of reviews on cordless hoovers from all brands. Most reviews seemed to be negative, but I spoke to Dyson UK about a few questions I had, and eventually bit the bullet and decided to buy it.I'm glad the bad reviews didn't sway my decision, as I'm absolutely delighted with this hoover! It's brilliant at cleaning for a start, I thought my floors were clean, until I used this! The battery life is good and allows me to use the Auto setting and clean the entire house (3 bedrooms) in one charge. If you put it on the boost setting (which isn't necessary for standard cleans) it obviously doesn't last very long, but you'd only need the boost setting for really dirty areas I would say. If you put it on the boost setting (which isn't necessary for standard cleans) it obviously doesn't last very long, but you'd only need the boost setting for really dirty areas I would say. I think a lot of people may not read the full spec entirely as it does state that the run time is less for the boost function. The trigger is really light to hold in, I was dubious about having to hold the trigger, but I forget I'm pushing it in half the time as it's so easy to press and hold. The hoover itself is pretty light, I don't find that my arms hurt at all, and it's easy to lift to hoover stairs, for example (I am an able-bodied person, so can't comment on the weight for those that are less fortunate). It comes with lots of cleaning parts, the attachment for cleaning areas where pets sleep etc is amazing! All in all, I'd definitely recommend this hoover! It's pretty much the exact same model as the Absolute, it comes with the fluffy roller attachment for hard floors which has the laser beam, which is pretty cool. And it's cheaper than the Absolute too!Great service, really speedy delivery too! Go buy it if you're looking for a cordless hoover with all the trimmings!

Nice little vacuum

This v15 replaced my v8 (which I loved from day one and am keeping as a backup) but I really needed longer battery time and stronger pick up. I love the design, weight, and lower volume of the v8. I especially liked the fluffy roller on the v8 and used it most of the time, including on my sofa (which I prefer over the upholstery tool. So I’ll start with the fluffy roller on the v15. Guys…. it’s super disappointing! It is so light weight and cheap feeling that it bounces and flops around when I use on my sofa (I have a microfiber sofa and a dog that sheds like crazy). This fluffy just seems inferior and feels super cheap and seriously lame. I’ve used the v15 for about 5 days now and I vacuum a couple times a day due to dog fur, dander, and everything the dog tracks ... MoreThis v15 replaced my v8 (which I loved from day one and am keeping as a backup) but I really needed longer battery time and stronger pick up. I’ve used the v15 for about 5 days now and I vacuum a couple times a day due to dog fur, dander, and everything the dog tracks in from the yard. 75 percent of my home is solid floor so the fluffy gets used a lot. All that said, I love the green laser light on the fluffy! In fact I will never again buy a vacuum that doesn’t have this feature, that’s how helpful it is in my particular case. The fluffy roller works well on the hard flooring but already seems to be wearing out. The small brush type lines that wrap around the roller are already flattened and basically nonfunctional. It almost seems like it is defective. So I’m pretty bummed about that. The rest of the features and quality on the v15 is very good. It’s not too heavy (which I was a little worried about), and I actually prefer the trigger switch that so many people complain about. So I passed on the v12 and got this instead. And the removable battery… yay!!! I love that I can keep everything in the closet and just plug the battery in near an outlet that is out of the way and inconspicuous. Because I prefer not to have a purple and orange vacuum hanging on my wall. So that is a big deal to me. Speaking of the battery, it is awesomely long lasting. I usually have about 20 minutes left after vacuuming (slowly to get every bit of the yuck that the laser highlights) and I mostly leave the setting on auto. And because my vacuum sessions are quite a bit longer now (because the laser shows all the dirt I didn’t see before) I really really appreciate the battery life in the v15. I originally planned to get an extra battery when I learned the v15 had a removable battery, but now I don’t actually think I need it. And when I use the vacuum on my two carpeted rooms (vacuum those once per day) I use the regular roller on boost and have plenty of power to do a thorough job without rushing to beat the end of battery life. It doesn’t empty as smoothly as my v8. Stuff gets stuck so I frequently remove the whole canister to clean what gets stuck. The tools are all nice quality as on all the Dyson sticks vacs. I’m not super impressed with the corkscrew type roller that has been raved about on many video reviews. It’s just ok imo. I prefer the old style upholstery brush. The varying power of the auto mode (when it supposedly detects extra dirt) seems random to me and I’m not convinced it is really detecting extra dirty areas. I can see all the extra dirty areas in the green light and the varying suction doesn’t seem to coincide with what I see. It is the best setting for battery life though so that’s the setting I leave it on most. So I mostly really like the v15 and would buy it again… for the price I paid (not the full regular price). I got it on sale for $599 ($150 off regular price) AND I used $200 worth of gift cards and circle points. So, yes I would buy it again but not for the regular price. It is over priced at the regular price and not a good value imo. I don’t care about seeing micro particle numbers on the digital screen. It’s unnecessary and adds to the cost. I can see with my eyes that it is cleaning well via the laser, and my air purifiers (set on smart mode to operate when needed) are running half as often as they were before switching to this vacuum. It does clean very well and the suction is definitely much improved over past models, and especially impressive given the reduced weight. It’s basically as powerful as the outsize but much lighter and ergonomically comfortable to use. Just over priced imo and the fluffy roller is a disappointment. I do like seeing real time battery life in minutes left. That IS helpful information. I am a little concerned about the overly technical digital screen because electronics just seem to have more frequent issues than a simple design. If you are trying to decide on getting the v15 I don’t think buyers remorse is something to worry about, as there is more to like than not. Hope this painfully long review (lol) helps!

Not what I was expecting

I absolutely love, and I mean love Dyson vacuums. There is nothing that comes close to the performance and quality of their machines. To this day, I still use and operate an aged V7 and another 10+ year old corded model. Both vacuums are outstanding when it comes to power, performance, and longevity. My wife has donated the corded version for my construction and renovation work because, "It's too heavy to push around." I personally disagree with her, but if anyone would like to know how well these machines hold up over time, this corded version is no stranger to heavy cementitious dust and other construction, demolition, and renovation debris. I personally disagree with her, but if anyone would like to know how well these machines hold up over time, this corded version is no stranger to heavy cementitious dust and other construction, demolition, and renovation debris. It refuses to quit! Now with respect to the V15, it has been reported to be the most powerful battery operated vacuum, to date, manufactured by Dyson. My wife and I wanted Dyson's very best, and so we made our purchase of their V15 Detect Absolute. We ordered and received the unit directly from Dyson, and the shipping box arrived in perfect condition without any evidence of tampering or damage. Upon opening and removing all the vacuum pieces, I was shocked to find several parts damaged. I am only allowed to 6 photos, but many more exist illustrating the damages. The aluminum extension tube came with a dent, the outside of the motor housing exhibits significant scratches and scuffs on several of the venturi structures, one attachment with gouged plastic (refer to image), and lastly, the clear plastic portion on the motorhead unit indicates internal circumferential wear, and per my experience and observation with owning and operating several Dyson vacuums over many years, this indication of wear seems to only be achieved after the unit has been used. To be clear, we placed an order for a new vacuum, and not a refurbished one. I am aware that Dyson does test their units, and evidence of such testing is to be expected; however, what I observed is beyond just factory testing. Needless to say, but will, it is being returned. The return process is made quite easy by the manufacturer.Something that is not readily discussed amongst Dyson owners, but I find may serve as a point of interest to some considering a purchase of a Dyson slimline style vacuum, is that they are designed in such a way that a thorough internal cleaning of the canister and venturis are next to impossible with compressed air. With my V7, I am able to visualize and blast out all dust accumulated in the unit. The slimline affords no way for the owner/ user to accomplish such a task. Trust me, if you have not yet used compressed air to clean the inner workings of your Dyson, you will be dumbfounded once you do. I am not talking about a can of compressed air used to dust off keyboards and electronics, I am referring to the compressed air originating from an air compressor. I am very diligent, to a fault, in cleaning my vacuums and power tools after each use. With the design of the slimline models, I just don't see how this could be pragmatically performed without complete disassembly and most likely voiding the warranty.Lastly, and with respect to performance, Dyson states that the V15 is their most powerful cordless vacuum to date. I disagree. I did a comparison of the suction power between my very aged V7 and the V15. Without a doubt, the V7 substantially exhibits a much greater suction force than the V15. I am not sure if the V15 that I purchased simply lacks the power to rival the V7, or if the unit is defective. The V15 starts up and sounds great without any signs that would indicate that the motor is not performing up to its expected standard.I only hope that the performance and appearance of the unit I received is an uncommon isolated occurrence, as I know my other Dyson products I purchased new, in the past, were received in impeccable condition, and their performance is just absolutely amazing!

Pricey, but valuable

I had done extensive research prior to purchasing this vacuum. I had understood the physics of suction and agitation, ergonomics and weight balance, ease of use and creature comforts. I’ve gotta say this particular vacuum nails a lot of things in the head.I had actually purchased three vacuums and tested them in my home until the return date was due. Since we were looking specifically for cordless I had the Shark Vertex Pro Duoclean, the Miele HX1 Tri-Flex and this Dyson V15 Detect. All three of them were way above the price range that I had initially thought for a cordless vacuum. But with the addition of a new puppy, a house, two new cars, and kids in the near future, we decided the vacuum would be an investment for time savings and health.I found this Dyson to correlate with real world testing of its suction and ease of use. This is incredibly lightweight and easy to use. I loved the tiny roller heads that can sneak there way into the furniture and underneath tables and chairs. With than tiny head came unmatched agitation and power. This has an adjustable gate which allows you to choose between a better seal (higher suction) and more ground clearance to pick up larger items. Although I have to say a lot of competitors did as well. The battery life with the sensor was stellar on all surfaces. And we were amazed by how well the green laser worked on our hardwood floors to visualize the hairs and dust in what we thought were clean areas. The headlights on other vacuums are just not the same.People may say the sensor is gimmicky, but it truly benefits the user by sensing particle intake and boosting/reducing motor speed to provide a deeper clean while saving battery when not needed. The parts themselves feel slightly plasticky, but robust enough to not worry about hitting them against furniture or stairs under normal use. Other vacuums we had looked at and tested may have felt more cheap and still were weighty.I would highly recommend this product if the budget allows and you are looking for a vacuum that doesn’t have water filtration or a lot of maintenance.

The V15 is an exemplary machine, much preferred to Stratos

I recently purchased a Dyson V15 Detect Extra, and as someone who previously owned a V10, the difference between the two models is truly remarkable. The V15 boasts significantly more power, requires less frequent filter cleaning, and includes a built-in crevice tool, all of which make cleaning a breeze.I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to compare the Dyson V15 with Shark's vacuum offerings, and I found that the Dyson outperformed its competition for several reasons:Cleaner head weight and maneuverability: Although this aspect might not be widely discussed, the lightweight design of the Dyson cleaner head is a game-changer. It glides effortlessly between furniture, making it easy to clean tight spaces. At first glance, a duo brush roller head may seem like a superior option, but once you experience the difficulty of pushing around such a bulky head, you'll appreciate the sleek design of the Dyson.Sturdier build and better quality: The Dyson V15 feels solid and durable, capable of withstanding rough usage. The plastic components don't come across as cheap or flimsy, contributing to the overall impression of a well-crafted device.Built-in crevice tool: The integrated crevice tool is incredibly convenient. When you need to clean up small, hard-to-reach areas, simply detach the hose and vacuum up the stray bits of dirt that the larger brush can't access. In conclusion, the Dyson V15 Detect Extra is an outstanding vacuum cleaner, albeit a bit pricey. However, considering its numerous advantages and superior performance, I would argue that the investment is well worth it.On a side note, I added some climbing finger tape to the Dyson's handle and it made the device so much more comfortable to use. My hands no longer slide and I need to grip the handle less tightly.

Works well, initially defective, some improvements

*DEFECT* I poured over the reviews for this machine for 10 days in excitement waiting for it to arrive. I knew there had been some complaints of a "filter needs cleaning" message in defective machines last year. Did i expect mine to be effective a year later in October 2022? Nope, but it was. This machine is basicaly out of stock everywhere, takes a while to ship, and then it came and immediately gave me a filter needs cleaning error (which means, wash, let dry for 24 hours - but it was sparkling clean and i had just used the machine for 4 minutes). Very frustrating because Dyson will tell you to exchange the whole thing at best buy, but BB was out of stock at that point. Thankfully their customer service is great, got through to them instantly, she promptly sent me ... More*DEFECT* I poured over the reviews for this machine for 10 days in excitement waiting for it to arrive. Thankfully their customer service is great, got through to them instantly, she promptly sent me a new main body (do NOT replace the filter, ask to replace the main body, it's the computer that's the issue) and it arrived in 3 days. however, for this insane price point, Dyson should have slowed down and halted delivery of defective machines instead of sending this to inconvenience customers and cause frustration. Especially because Dyson will only replace the main body for you if they have it in stock - if not, you're out of luck and probably would have to return this if you couldn't find a replacement vac. *DYSON RUSHES THEIR PRODUCTS* as i said they should have slowed their roll and been careful to prevent such an obvious and inconvenient defect. i have an HP04 air purifier which costs an absurd amount of money and the motor made irritating high-pitched sounds within a few months, customer service replaced it and the new one quickly started making the same sound. it's a widespread common defect and now i'm out of warranty and can't do anything except smack the machine to make it quiet or constantly unplug it to let it cool off. For that price point? and now the same type of nonsense for my second insanely priced dyson product? *THE VACUUM* the vacuum is excellent. i have no upper body strength and it's not light as a feather but it's not hard to manouver, ESPECIALLY compared to dyson's larger more heavy duty vacuums, it's a breeze. however using it on upholstery or walls is strenuous which I wish they had accounted for. the laser is insane and illuminates dust and pet hair you'd never see otherwise. i love vacuuming in the dark. it's true what most are saying that it makes vacuuming much more fun and frequent. Eco mode is so quiet and doesn't scare my pets (im in a small place so theres nowhere for them to escape if it's loud). it will get you to vacuum more for sure. super satisfying to see how much gross stuff comes up off your floor and off of your couch. the fluffy head is great but useless on carpet so only frustrating thing is trying to pass it over litter mats, shoe mats etc is a bit janky. I do wish they were a bit more innovative with designing the parts so that switching brushes was a little bit more seamless (maybe like a magnetic pull to make it easier to switch mid-vacuuming) because it's a little anoying to switch and i'm allowed to be picky for this price. however i'd say the laser and the ease of use make all this worth it as i find vacuuming so fun now and it used to be my least favourite chore. I don't have the issue others have of hair getting stuck wrapped in the top of the bin, when that happens it shoots out when i empty the bin, or you can take the whole plastic bin off instead of sticking your hand in to reach the hair, much easier. the wall mount is great (use the anchors) but it's a bit odd that only some of the brushes can fit properly into the brush holders (eg the small hair-detangle brush doesn't fit on the wall mount holders, it's too wide, yet it's one of the most exciting brushes). I think overall dyson should have put a bit more thought into this if they're going to charge surreal prices but i really am happy with it because of how much fun it makes the vacuuming process and the amazing yet quiet suction. you'll realize how filthy your place is with the laser and it will motivate you to vacuum more for sure. be prepared for a risk of defect and I definitely recommend it if you have pets that shed as it will hold you more accountable to clean since it's so fun and convenient!

obsessed with my V15

I bought this as a housewarming gift to myself and I couldn’t be happier with the purchase! of course when you’re making a purchase this big, you read the bad reviews to know what could go wrong. my dyson had no defects, it worked perfectly out of the box, holding in the trigger is very easy so my hand doesn’t get too tired, and so far it’s worked on multiple different types of carpets. I have a very thick almost shaggy rug that you do have to push harder and make sure you’re on the lower level suction, but I think any vacuum would struggle with this and it still cleaned very efficiently. I also got my dyson with all of the accessories, and the hair screw tool is insanely effective. if you’re between models or don’t know if a vacuum is worth this much money, look up ... MoreI bought this as a housewarming gift to myself and I couldn’t be happier with the purchase! of course when you’re making a purchase this big, you read the bad reviews to know what could go wrong. my dyson had no defects, it worked perfectly out of the box, holding in the trigger is very easy so my hand doesn’t get too tired, and so far it’s worked on multiple different types of carpets. I also got my dyson with all of the accessories, and the hair screw tool is insanely effective. if you’re between models or don’t know if a vacuum is worth this much money, look up vacuum wars on youtube and they’ll convince you! the hardwood fluffy brush is a complete game changer, especially in my bathroom/laundry room where I was appalled at how much dust there was, you could see exactly where the dyson had already cleaned with the laser. it’s also very easy to empty, although sometimes hair gets wrapped in the canister the wrong way and you have to do a little reach in - nothing compared to bag vacuums or the ones with giant canisters that leave a dust cloud behind! last thing is the charging time - I have half hardwood floors and half carpet, i’ve been cleaning a ton since i’ve moved and got a puppy, and it lasts at least 40 minutes every time I’m using it on Auto (i’ve never had to use Max power) so I’ve never been concerned with charging time. overall, every possible concern was proven wrong and the cordless vacuum is a life changer after only ever having corded uprights. vacuuming is actually fun with the laser and maneuverability of the regular roller head, even my boyfriend agrees! in my opinion the V15 has the best features (highest suction power, the laser cleaner, and 2nd best battery life) so I would highly recommend saving up for this model! my friend wanted a dyson and I let her clean her house with mine (two long haired cats) and she immediately bought one. i’ve also cleaned my car, couch, drawers, and stairs with it and it can truly get any job done.
