I am so disappointed with this product. Firstly no one informs you that the battery has a very limited life span - its performance will weaken after a couple of years. I have owned my Dyson V7 Motorhead for 3 years and am now lucky to get 10 minutes running time on high suction before it dies on me. Secondly I was told by the salesman that cleaning the filter just required rinsing the cloth tube under a tap after use. Not true! In order to get decent suction on carpets the metal cyclone filter has to be taken out and thoroughly cleaned, which is a difficult job considering the product's design does not allow for easy access. I have even resorted to hoovering out the cyclone filter with my Mr Henry which is a pretty ridiculous situation. James Dyson should hang his ... MoreI am so disappointed with this product. Dyson V7 - Singularly the worst domestic appliance I have ever purchased. Believing the hype, I purchased a Dyson V7 in 2021, under sales promotion for £249.99. What are the issues? 1. Battery life - the battery needed replaced within the first year (a common fault as every other owner I know has had to replace theirs within 24 months). 2. The suction DOES deteriorate as the collector fills up, suction reduces. 3. The connection between the shaft and the hand unit continually gets blocked by fluff. (We have predominantly wooden floors and I have no idea where this fluff comes from). This is exhibited by the vacuum throwing debris over the floor instead of sucking it up. 4. The brush head also gets clogged up very frequently. 5. Even when completely clear, the system ... MoreDyson V7 - Singularly the worst domestic appliance I have ever purchased. On full suction you will get about 3 minutes at most before it runs out of charge.Admittedly, at first I was impressed but after a few months of ownership it became blatantly apparent that I had wasted my money. Ironically, at the same time I persuaded my elderly mother and my daughter to purchase as well. I still get reminded of this on a daily basis. Like many owners, it is hard to admit that you have wasted a considerable amount of money, but it's time to speak the truth...

I have had this for about a month. They're still very expensive for what they are and how long they're suppose to last! But obviously convenience comes at a cost these daysSo anyway. At first I didnt like it and didnt think the suction was great as I was use to my miele. But with 2 little ones and having to constantly take out the vacuum and cord was abit of a hassle. So its good for a quite little squiz around but not a proper vacuum clean. It does pick up most mess. I generally pick up bigger bits of food etc. But overall I'm happy with the product as it's convenient. Although I have to clean it often which takes about 10 to 15minutes.My only gripe is that it can feel heavy on my hand and rubs my skin. But this might just be me. So with all things ... The vacuum is so light to use by comparison to competitors. The suction is fantastic for a household with pets and kids. (kid=crumbs and pets=mud!)We do have a "cabled" vacuum for the main cleaning, but this Dyson is great for the daily "quick whizz over" and the quick clear up of crumbs/mud.If the budget allowed and in hindsight, I would have bought the product with the longer lifespan on full max (why would you not use max all the time!). This is because a quick whizz of the car (mud & crumbs again!) depletes the battery very quickly, and it is too much of a faff to bring out the corded vacuum... thus, only half a job! Also, when the nozzle adapter is used (for crevices), the Dyson loses some of the stability. It feels loose and you cant apply too much ... MoreThe vacuum is so light to use by comparison to competitors. The suction is fantastic for a household with pets and kids. I've used my Dyson for several weeks now with mixed results.Good points - easy to run over carpets, tiles or any floor surface without having to change attachment. Very good at picking up dog hairs. Handy to put in car to take to our caravan. Not such good points - not in my opinion great for doing a thorough clean. I had to revert back to my cylinder vacuum particularly to get into corners, skirting and cobwebs in conservatory where although I could reach with the long tube the power didn't seem to be there to pull cobwebs off (If you use high power it doesn't last long enough). The attachment brushes don't seem to be firm enough for fabrics, corners. If it is being used with a short attachment the outlet blows into your face.Overall - I'll find it useful as a ... I bought my V7 as a refurbished machine from Dyson. It arrived and looking at it it looked brand new so was feeling pleased. Got it all set up. Noticed it was really quiet in operation... fantastic. I was falling in love with it. It was lightweight and was beginning to think I had made a wise choice. Then things started to go wrong. I noticed the beater bar wasn't rotating. I took the beater bar out of the head and realised the motor was turning but a part, I assuming it is called a drive dog or something was missing. Not to worry a premium product would have exemplary support mechanisms in place. Nope wrong there! I was quite happy to fit the missing part myself if Dyson would send it out. I thought I'd use the option of the WhatsApp messaging service to contact customer services. I sent photos and videos as requested but all I seemed to get was a generic response of "I can sort this out for you". Of course that never happened. I ended up phoning customer services who were very pleasant who suggested that "they could send a new beater head out..... BUT they were out of stock and would take 10 to 14 days to come in". So here we have a Dyson V7 raring to be used but would be potentially sitting in a cupboard for nigh on 3 weeks between ordering and getting the part so I could use it. Absolutely not acceptable. Would have been happy for the whole caboodle to be exchanged but apparently that wasn't possible. Dyson very kindly offered to refund my money and collect the faulty machine. Now what was I going to do??? Simples, I ordered a Samsung Jet 95. An absolutely superb machine. Slightly heavier than the V7, slightly louder in operation but it works perfectly. Most impressed. So a big thank you to Dyson for letting me down, though the poor experience of your customer service I was forced into the arms of a competitor. I felt duty bound to share my experience and to explain to other potential purchasers that Dyson are not all they are cracked up to be.
No loss of suction, Dyson promised. Ever. A bold claim. And I'm not going to throw doubt on the veracity of that statement; I am, however, going to qualify it. What is your starting point? For example, if I said "I can calculate pi today as well as I could 10 years ago" that may indicate great cognitive function. Or it could simply mean, "I have as little clue about how to calculate pi today as I did a decade ago". "No loss of suction" in the case of this woeful device means that, from day 1 to day 100 you get the same level of suction. Which is great, if you think a wheezy asthmatic is the best person to blow out your birthday candles. It lifts, precisely, nothing from the carpet. To prove this, I "vacuumed" the hallway carpet with the V7 Animal - nice empty ... MoreNo loss of suction, Dyson promised. Ever. A bold claim. Which is great, if you think a wheezy asthmatic is the best person to blow out your birthday candles. It lifts, precisely, nothing from the carpet. To prove this, I "vacuumed" the hallway carpet with the V7 Animal - nice empty chamber to start with, a good vacuum in two directions. I then used a Miele on the same area. The difference is night and day - the V7 Animal moved some light fibres across the pile, the Miele came along and actually hoovered the carpet. Tried on the tiled kitchen floor - with the V7 Animal you could see the dust move ever so slightly and then resettle, the Miele left the floor spotless. And, true to Mr Dyson's claim, it lost that level of suction not once - not once was it able to lift anything more than the lightest talcum powder from the surface of the bedroom floor. Not once did it fail to gently disturb a cobweb from the lightshade. This is truly an appalling vacuum cleaner. It's noisy, it's flimsy and it';s almost completely useless. I urge you, I beseech you, not to buy one until you try one, and try it against a similar costing device from Miele or Vax.
We have had our Dyson v7 which we bought based on the reviews about 6 months . It’s main plus point is of course no cables but alas that is about the best we can say about it.The machine works well enough on hard surfaces but if you need it for carpets forget it ,we have mainly carpets and it simply lacks a decent suction requiring numerous passes the same area to get even a basic cleaning job done, very disappointing.Battery life was just about adequate from a new charge. The tools are fine and it fits together well enough but basic functions we found inadequate. We paid a recent visit to curry’s to try out the other battery stick cleaners in the range and found them equally poor on carpet suction ! Including the top of the range ( £600) laser one , sorry ... MoreWe have had our Dyson v7 which we bought based on the reviews about 6 months . I never imagined being able to own a Dyson as their prices are completely out of my budget range. So I was excited to seize the opportunity to buy a refurbished model. I kept my fingers crossed that it wasn't too refurbished considering the price and I was highly delighted when it arrived less that a week later. I couldn't see a mark on it. It looked brand new and any misgivings I had disappeared as soon as I'd charged up the battery and cleaned a small section of carpet. Wow! This was incredibly efficient and much quieter than I expected.. Light to move around too which is fabulous for my bad back and knees. It's a top quality piece of kit and although I'm yet to "play" with all the other attachments, I'm sure I'll be equally satisfied. I can't comments on the pet ... It's ridiculously easy to empty so who cares the dust container is small.
I have had a cordless Dyson for five years - it's been great as long as one follows the instructions and regularly cleans the filter and removes hair from around the roller but is getting a little temperantal nowadays. However, i have always found Dyson Customer Service helpful with its occasional foibles.Best thing about cordless vacs is ease of use - not having to crawl around the floor plugging it in and not having to disentangle the lead from chair legs, tables etc (I am 74 so appreciate this!).Our main problem is cat hair so I decided to buy the Dyson Animal for downstairs and keep the old machine upstairs.
