Bought this to replace an older Dyson hand-held that I couldn’t get repaired due to sores not being made any more. Really liked the versatility of the old one, so decided to go with a newer model despite the fairly steep price tag. To be fair, it looks and feels well made and of good quality. This model comes with numerous attachments; the old one had a brush bar head, powered extension bar, crevice brush, and a crevice tool. This one has all of that plus a soft dust brush, an extra powered brush bar head and a wide nozzle, plus two flexible adapted for going under furniture or reaching on top of high objects. There has clearly been an ongoing development process and this model is definitely better than then previous one (a DC03 I think it was) and I thought that one was good. Had the dust collector been a bit larger I’d have given this top star rating; as it is I’d give half and extra star if I could. I just hope it lasts as well as the last one.

My old Miele, with a cord, was reliable for a decade and I'm planning to go back to one now. Incidentally, the Q&A-style troubleshooting advice is pretty useless and unless you want to spend your day waiting on the phone line that avenue is not much use. If you are reading this, my advice is: don't buy one.

Mysterious juddering pulsing on and off - not good
24 October 2021

I have shoulder length hair but it seems too much for the cyclone mechanism: it jams up the intake even though I empty the cannister after every use. It took a bunch of work by my husband to discover what was causing the failure to function. Apart from that it is a lovely machine to use. I particularly like being able to release the trigger for a moment while I change parts of the room I am cleaning - it takes a bit of getting used to but saves the battery. I haven't needed to use the overdrive setting to suck anything yet. I wish there was a solution to the accessories storage and transport - I never seem to have the right one with me when I change rooms and there is no space on the wall 'rack' to put them all. It took a week to get the 'rack' put up as it didn't ... MoreI have shoulder length hair but it seems too much for the cyclone mechanism: it jams up the intake even though I empty the cannister after every use. I still think no one considered how to leave the machine on charge while in the 'rack' - I have the power cord wedged into the hinge all the time so it doesn't look as slick as I would like.

Not recommended for anyone who isn't an engineer

I have a cordless Dyson which I bought in March last year. Twice it's started pulsating due to needing to be almost completely taken apart and cleaned in order to operate again. As an older person with arthritic hands this is just so stressful and difficult. In fact I hurt my hands during the last call this morning. It's so frustrating that a vacuum cleaner can't operate without the need for almost engineer like skills that are beyond the comfortable ability of somebody with a very common disability. It's bad enough that one needs to keep one's finger on the trigger all the time whilst cleaning without the extra dexterity needed in order to maintain the machine. There should be warnings issued that this is the case. Had I realised when I bought the machine last ... MoreI have a cordless Dyson which I bought in March last year. Three quarters of an hour on the phone that I'd put off for 2 weeks as I just couldn't face going through the process of being talked through what I consider to be a repairers job. I'm now in a foul mood and ended up telling the guy on the end of the phone that I'm going to sell the Dyson and buy a vacuum cleaner that works without having to be dismantled every couple of weeks

Pricey considering competition, single battery, no flexible hose option, charger cable too short, nuisance packaging
12 June 2021

It's overpriced considering you can get similar products from other manufacturers for £100 less, even with an extra battery thrown in. I would also expect a full gamut of extras, including a flexible hose attachment for cleaning a car or crazy unusual spaces like behind furniture with odd layouts of furniture and odd layouts of rooms. The soft bristles of the brush attachments are damaged way too easily, and we should be informed that they require extremely delicate care to prevent damage and bending. The battery time is also disappointing if you use a powered head, like most people will. Max strength power is 5 minutes for a powered head. Why even give the option for such a pathetic run time? You might as well use your mains powered vacuum for such demanding tasks. ... MoreIt's overpriced considering you can get similar products from other manufacturers for £100 less, even with an extra battery thrown in. You might as well use your mains powered vacuum for such demanding tasks. There aren't really any storage options for additional parts, besides a couple of attachments you can clip on the wall mount, just not the others. The rear filter also comes off easily during use. This is really a disappointing vacuum for the price, despite it looking pretty and having a big brand name. I guess having a fully powered cleaning head at the end of the wand is a bonus, but I'm not sure how well it compares to the other rechargeable vacuums... I also had to return my first one within the first week because it was immediately faulty, which I didn't expect for a premium brand. I don't think it's worth the premium cost if you are looking for a cost-effective rechargeable vacuum. If you have the money to spend, I guess it's okay and not as big a deal, considering you can justify the shorter run times, and you do get the powered heads. The box is a nightmare to unpack! It also came with an extra cardboard overpack that just had a UN battery warning for shipping, instead of having that on the main packaging. Such a nuisance to dispose of. The charger cable could also do with being a lot longer, to take into account unusual mounting places.

I've only had the machine for about 2 weeks so can't review it's long term efficiency but so far, it's been really impressive. With plenty of different tools, I don't have any excuses for not keeping every nook and cranny clean in my house - or car! Easy to handle, although it's slightly annoying that you have to keep the trigger pressed all the time as this compromises any change in grip. It would be nice if, like other companies, Dyson make it simple to buy a spare battery that can easily be swapped for the battery that needs recharging, so that usage time can be doubled very conveniently. As far as I see, the battery can only be removed by unscrewing a certain number of screws - hardly convenient and not very inventive for a company that has a reputation of being so. I got my Dyson V7 on a special deal which, to be honest, is the only way I could possibly afford a Dyson as they are sooooo expensive.

Very disappointing purchase, not in line with with advertised claims.
18 November 2021

Sadly a very disappointing purchase! The battery life claims on the numerous sites are completely inaccurate and false. When we first received the machine we made sure to fully charge it before use, but on several different attempts now only get an average of 10-15 minutes vacuum time on the low power mode. You would think that when you buy a vacuum cleaner you should be able to use it for longer than a few minutes at a time. Most other features are ok with useful add-on accessories, although some of these feels a bit timid and loose when connected. Emptying the bin section is clunky and stiff and you have to be quite forceful when opening and closing. On the whole would NOT recommend this machine. Dyson Cordless Vac Cleaner Firstly, I am a big fan of Dyson products . We have for many years bought their product and still own 2 upright vac cleaners. We thought this would be a good idea to try this refurb and give it a go. What i like about it is its tiny. Its so compact and the tools it comes with are great. Being cordless means its so easy to use in the car, kitchen or where ever you require and its light weight. However and its big one. The battery in it is pretty much useless. We charge for an hour and on MAX power for the vac lasts 30 secs. On normal/ low power it lasts maybe 30 mins. The whole reason we bought this is because we like Dyson's which are powerful. The battery in it is pretty much useless. We charge for an hour and on MAX power for the vac lasts 30 secs. On normal/ low power it lasts maybe 30 mins. The whole reason we bought this is because we like Dyson's which are powerful. This is unfortunately does not have the power required to clean an entire house or even anything other than a very small job. Perhaps you could clean your car with it. For 150 I reckon thats an expensive way to clean it.
