Happy Thursday! ✨What's your favorite drugstore primer? I've been trying this Oil Control Primer Mist by @elfcosmetics. First of all, how cute is this packaging? Honestly that's what got my attention in the first place 😂 I think it looks so nice and clean. Anyway, I really like the results. It does help to keep my face from shining and I feel like my make up applies nicely once the product has completely absorbed (it does take a minute). It's water-based, contains cucumber extract, and vitamins E and B. You can truly feel how refreshing it is. The only thing that I didn't love about this product is that when you spritz it on, it dispenses a generous amount of product so I wish I'd knew that one pump was enough. Other than that, I really liked it and I recommend it. ... MoreHappy Thursday! ✨What's your favorite drugstore primer? I've been trying this Oil Control Primer Mist by @elfcosmetics. So this is a primer and a setting spray. I really like the packaging you have to shake it before you use. It reminds me of a can of spray paint when you shake it you hear that ball kind of mix the product around on the inside. Then when you spray it, it is a little aggressive but I guess that’s why it says 8 to 10 inches away from your face but once it’s on your face, it draws down to be a little bit tacky and after your full set of make up is on, you can spray it and it sets it and it does make it a little bit like velvety satin type feel to it.

I've played with this primer quite a bit, and now that I have it figured out I like it quite a bit. Firstly, it's super affordable and you get a lot of product. It projects a very fine mist, and it works well under a variety of foundation formulas. If you have large pores to fill, you might want to try something silicone-based since this is not going to do much for texture. It really does mattify, but you have to saturated your oily areas pretty well and let them dry completely before applying your color products. Also, try spraying your finger tips and rubbing this gently into your pores -- do not spray onto your eye area or lips! I was suffering from chronically dry lips and realized that this was getting to close to my lip area and causing the issue. Great for those of us blessed with oily skin! It goes on in a fine mist and works wonders under foundation. No scent that I can pick up, but leaves skin a little wet for a second or two - so wait a bit before applying foundation. You do have to shake the bottle a good bit to mix the emulsification of primer vs. water, but that's no big deal. Most primers and setting sprays are the same like that. 8/10, recommended!

I purchased this product for $10 from Walmart more out of curiosity than anything else. I was searching for a new Primer that focused on oil control, as the last one I had been using wasn't holding up as it should. I had seen many of the MUA's I follow on Instagram using either this or similar products, but had never thought it was a necessity for my own makeup routine, so I usually just passed by without paying it any mind. This time I decided to give it a try since it was right by the Primer Stick I was purchasing, and I must say I do not regret my decision even the tiniest bit. This time I decided to give it a try since it was right by the Primer Stick I was purchasing, and I must say I do not regret my decision even the tiniest bit. This Oil Control Primer Mist is exactly what my routine has been missing.I love Elf's products not only because they are inexpensive, but because they work and they don't agitate my sensitive skin like other brands do. The same can be said for this Primer Mist. I have oily/dry combination skin so I'm always looking for something with oil control that's also extremely hydrating. By itself this product is good at both of those things, but when paired with the Elf+ Glow Primer Stick it works absolute wonders for me. It leaves my skin feeling fresh, hydrated, and soft before and after I put on makeup. The Primer Mist comes in an easy to hold bottle that has a cap that stays on pretty securely. Even though the spray isn't a continuous mist, the pump is easy to depress and doesn't stick even after multiple uses. The size isn't the most convenient for slipping in a small purse or handbag, but it travels easily in my little travel tote with the rest of my "everyday" makeup, so I certainly cannot complain. I would also like to add that I absolutely love the simplicity of the bottles design. The mist itself is water based and enriched with purified water, cucumber, and vitamins B and E, so it has a nice light scent that doesn't overpower you. Because it doesn't have a continuous mist you do tend to have some overlap, but I find that gently patting/massaging the mist into my skin helps to evenly distribute it. Thankfully it doesn't feel heavy in your face, and it takes very little time to dry (a minute or two at most). It doesn't leave my skin feeling tacky at all, which is always a huge plus. On it's own it has a matte finish that helps to eliminate the shine from oils, but when paired with the aforementioned primer stick it gives my skin a nice healthy, natural glow that is perfect for bare face, or makeup.Overall I would 100% recommend this product to someone who is searching for a good primer mist that actually delivers when it comes to oil control.

Basic oil control on budget!!

I have been using this product now for over a year. I have heard IT DOES NOT COMPARE TO THE OLD VERSION. I get that and wish I had the chance to try but actually really enjoy using this. IT IS NOT THE NUMBER ONE OIL CONTROLING PRIMER OUT THERE. That being known this product is amazing! I use this WITH AND WITHOUT MAKE UP. I am now starting to do more glam type make up and use a lot of make up on my face. Having normal/slightly sensitive and oily skin I found the more make up I use the more the oils in my face come out. By using the product it reduce it by 90-95% vs no use I'm literally wiping oil and make up off, yes cringe. I even said no make up. My face routine I wash use eye and face moisturizers let then sink in a bit then spay a few all over my face and proceed to just use a little mascara. By using the spray it helps set in my moisturizer and doesn't not have the mascara bleed bc the moisturizer under the eye. So if your someone on a budget with light/mild oily skin I say take a chance, just no after a few hr use you still will have a light oil shine on certain areas (just blot off with tissue/oil removing wipe or CLEAN toilet seat cover lol). Still testing and looking for other oil control primers but still #1 for price as well as length on how long it actual bottle last.

I'm Making It Work
17 February 2022

I have very oily skin and have been using Neutrogena products since high school -- that's just the way it is -- never really been a foundation type of girl so I can't really comment on "makeup running" or not staying in place. After trying so many other products, ranging from $5 to $50 with the higher priced maybe lasting a little longer, I decided on the ELF Oil Control Primer Mist. I prefer the natural look without all the additives in some products -- the cucumber extract and Vitamins B and E, water-based, it's the best combination for my skin to keep it looking healthy, natural, no breakouts, etc. What I do and what works for me is instead of spraying on the OC Primer Mist and waiting for it to dry, I spray and then massage it over my T-zone the same way I ... MoreI have very oily skin and have been using Neutrogena products since high school -- that's just the way it is -- never really been a foundation type of girl so I can't really comment on "makeup running" or not staying in place. It seems to be working just fine for me so far. Then when I use the Monochromatic Multi Stick, I usually spray my face brush with setting spray before I blend in the Stick color/translucent powder and I'm good to go -- all stays in place with light touch-ups for shine a few times throughout my day. In all my years it's been difficult to find a product that keeps away the shine for 8 hrs. or more -- I just decided to make what I have work better.

I have very sensitive and oily skin & I've tried so many primers & I would always get greasy after a few hours. With this elf product, my face wasn't all greasy & shiny & my foundation looked great all day long! I also used powder as well on top of the liquid foundation & this combo was amazing. This is also great to just freshen your skin up if you don't want to wear makeup.

First of all my bottle looks slightly different then the picture, it has a pink band with the name. But the important part was that when I shake it I can hear something rattling inside and when I shook it the actual plastic bottle fell out of glass casing. It wasn’t broken, I just popped it back in but it will probably fall out again if I do it again. I’m not sure how well the actual primer works because i was sweating a lot today but it didn’t seem to help as much as I hoped it would. (My skin is very oily though)

I have such a huge beef with this product (& with ELF too). 1st I’ve watched the price of this creep up $3 whole dollars since it launched & ELF is sneaky about this because they only do that when there’s a love & demand for a product. They figure people will pay more if they truly like something, which is true but it also goes against what ELF supposedly stands for too. Not only that but this does NOTHING as far as oil control in the warmer months for me. So I don’t know what all the rave is about. They have a couple of oil control/mattifying lotions/serums that behave similarly. They give minimal results but not when it really counts. There’s so many products that have crept up in price & ELF is slowly but surely moving away from being that really awesomely priced ... MoreI have such a huge beef with this product (& with ELF too). 1st I’ve watched the price of this creep up $3 whole dollars since it launched & ELF is sneaky about this because they only do that when there’s a love & demand for a product. I’m becoming less & less of a fan of the brand despite the fact that I’ve been an avid ELF user since they launched almost 20 yrs ago.
