A great upgrade from the original eero!

My home is difficult for radio signals because of its shape, a number of interior brick walls, metal cabinets with metal backsplashes in three rooms... I just replaced the 5 original eero units with a 3 pack of eero 6+ units. Throughout the the parts of the house we spend the most time in we get the same fast (250-300 MBps) that we get in our den a few feet from the modem and base eero unit. The 2 satellite eero units are in place mostly because our TIVO-Mini units don't work well with Wi-Fi. The rooms with the satellite eero units get an adequate Wi-Fi signal for most of our needs without the satellites but being able to use a network cable to the Tivo-Minis allows us to flawlessly stream HD and 4K television. The setup was quick and easy. I already had the app on my phone. I deleted the old network from the app and unplugged the old units. The app gives clear instructions that were simple to follow. The new network was up and running in no time. The one thing I would do differently is keep the name and password of the old network. I didn't really consider that by giving the new network a different name that I would have to individually log each Wi-Fi using device into the new network. I couldn't be happier with my new 6+ version of the eero. I have 3 units providing better coverage than my 5 original units were. Simple setup. I've never had a single issue with eero equipment in the past. Problem free technology, what else could one wish for!

A much needed improvement over the older Eero 6

If you have the original Eero that came out in 2016, then yes, as it will soon no longer be supported with updates but will continue to work. If you have a 2nd generation Eero or Eero Pro (tri-band) and have internet speeds greater than 500mbps, then the Eero 6+ or 6E makes a huge difference as they now support up to 1 gigabit. If you want to get into mesh networking, then you cannot go wrong with Eero’s and should get this, and I’ll tell you why.The core tenets of an Eero are its simplicity and stability. My Eero units have been stable internet mesh points that rarely require any rebooting or messing around once set up. The setup process is quite simple, and the app walks you through the step-by-step process. When connected and set up, the WiFi coverage is stable, fast and seamless and just that it works everywhere without dropouts. The onboard parental controls, as part of Eero Secure, are an extra cost. Still, they come packed with useful tools to help protect your internet experience and provide a margin of reassurance on data usage and reporting. I love the per-device restrictions and customisation available to the end user. This is significantly better than other options on the market, and Eero makes this part of the experience enjoyable, and it is detailed enough that one can pair it down to individual devices. In my situation, the new Eero 6+ allows me to expand the network easily. The availability of ethernet ports on the back of the mesh nodes means I can easily access and expand my wired network by connecting it over the WiFi network. Even though my internet speeds are far slower than the 1 gigabit, most of my data transmission is internal, and that's where the added bandwidth provided by the Eero 6+ comes in handy. The new routers support higher WiFi bandwidth that allows for greater speeds on my internal network, all while handling the internet. Internally the new Eero 6+ supports AX3000, which equates to about 600 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz band and 2400 Mbps in the 5 GHz band. This means more available speed to share between your devices and within your network. Overall WiFi transfer speeds doubled over the internal network, and the internet still was as fast as it was before, but that's because I have a 200 Mbps internet connection. So should you get it? It's an unequivocally yes. The Eero mesh systems are some of the easiest to set up, stable, reliable and feature-rich mesh routers I have used. They support Zigbee, so home automation is helped out by improving your WiFi connectivity. Each Eero mesh unit can support up to 50 devices on the Zigbee network, and if you use amazon smart speaker devices, you can control your home via voice. Zigbee allows you to use smart lights, locks, switches, plugs and sensors, allowing a lived-in look when not at home.Overall this is a must-have for anybody working from home. The ability to extend your WiFi network across your home and provide a stable internet connection anywhere is a godsend. I highly recommend buying it. Improve your internet experience by having wifi everywhere. Eero is the only hassle-free way to do mesh WiFi for the non-technical consumer.

As I mention, I previously had a two pack, tri band Velop mesh system. This system had served me well for several years, however, I have recently acquired several wifi 6 devices and the Velop system was not wifi 6.I have about 25 devices on my system including 4 HDTVs which I constantly stream. In actual operation, the eero system felt very quick and no buffering occurred. Range was also excellent exceeding my previous Velop system. I have 1 gigabyte per second internet coming into the house. About 20 feet from the router and in the same room as the router, I was able to achieve about 900mbps on my laptop compared to about 750mbps with the previous Velop system. A story below the router and through 3 walls, I achieved around 250mbps compared to 200mbps with the previous system.I you are a heavy user of video or other data intensive devices and want a network that is easy to set up, fast, and with great range, I highly recommend the Eero 6+ AX3000.

I did not notice a significant speed improvement in my computer as obviously speeds can be affected by several factors including the machine itself. However, with the use of the eero wi-fi system, keeping the laptop connected to the network at all times and accessing the internet without waiting long for the pages to load are no longer an issue. I highly recommend this product for offering a much needed wi-fi boost in your home network.

80+ old house w lots of metal lathe/plaster so very difficult to get good WIFI 70 feet to living room TV. Had an AC1200 that was fair until Spectrum rearranged things during a service call. Anyway I connected Eero to my to my existing 5AC router and got an Excellent result. LR TV was at 35 now at 147! Maintained old router for 2.4/5 ghz for other uses as wanted Eero dedicated to LR TV. Would probably have bought TP-LINK Deco X60 V1 AX3000 if I had known Eero was trying to "require" a $99/yr subscription for what most router manufacturers for provide free. But I just kept swiping away the acceptance screens without filling in anything, bypassed the authorization pages and did not enter any payment information so hopefully that will be the end of that. I hate that mesh vendors require install via a cell phone. Mine is for emergencies not daily use so I am not real good with it. I am much better with written instructions but did find a great video to watch while I did the phone thing.

Excellent all in one network and smart hub
10 November 2022

The eero 6+ looks really sleek and stylish and easy to setup. The big advantage over this version is that there isn't just one gateway, any of them could be used as the gateway. I've got one on each floor and one in the garage. The garage one let's me connect a network switch and then all my smart garage items connect there. Let's my further away cameras get a better connection.Setting up is straight forward. after you install the app, just follow the prompts on screen to add the devices.Once you've set up the network there's many handy features. I've grouped smart devices together, computers, phones/tablets and kids devices. It's nice to be able to set rules based on those profiles. One downside is that you can't have seperate 2.4 and 5.0GHz networks. It's nice to be able to set rules based on those profiles. One downside is that you can't have seperate 2.4 and 5.0GHz networks. They share the same name and password. I understand the advantage of this and why it's done, but for devices that aren't dual band, setting them up is a hassle. Thankfully there's a feature where you can disable 5GHz network so your devices can be added.Speeds are noticeably improved in the further corners of my home. My office is far away from my modem and main gateway, so I put another one by my computer and plugged it into one of the ports. It was faster only relying on the access points wifi and not my desktops wifiIt has the ability to also act as a smart device hub. I haven't played with this yet because I already use a different hub and don't want to remove devices and then re set them up. I may add a few devices just because.

Great coverage for large areas!
6 October 2022

It might be silly but first impressions are important and the packaging for these was very robust with tight tolerances. Just what I would expect from something in this price range. My coverage area is quite large and extends to a detached barn where my wood working studio is located. Even with very high powered single unit devices I have trouble with coverage. Not with this system I have them spaced across my property such that I get great coverage everywhere that I need. It is sort of like cell phone towers where as you move around the system calculates which node will give you the best reception and will switch you seamlessly if you move or in the unlikely even that one drops offline. This is fast too giving gigabit speeds. This is fast too giving gigabit speeds. This is done by communication between the units on another radio frequency as not to take up network resources. My internet is not that fast but I do a lot of internal file sharing and moving and really appreciate the speed this gives my local network.I checked with customer support and they said up to 3 more units can be added to the system presumably doubling the coverage area. eero 6+ works as a smart home hub so you can control supported Thread and Zigbee devices with Alexa. Use your eero 6+ with Alexa to control lights, locks, plugs, and more. I chatted into best buy and they said this is also compatible with google home. All in all this is one of the few products I would give an extra star to if I could. Installation was easy too.

Powerful WiFi Mesh System
7 October 2022

The eero 6+ is my first mesh wifi router. In the matter of minutes I went from one access point to three with full coverage within my home. Setup is truly breeze and because I am used to navigating my own modem and wifi at home I had no trouble at home. I currently have full gigabyte service at my home. I have a modem/wifi router from my service provider so I logged into my router and deactivated the wifi portion of the router prior to connecting my eero to the modem via a ethernet cable (included). Next download the eero app and it will take you from there and have everything up and running in the matter of minutes. This is a wifi 6 device!I positioned my three devices in a straight line through my 1 story home. This provides complete wifi coverage within my home that I did not have prior to having the eero system. Prior my old wifi router was in the rear of my home so the farther towards the front of the house the weaker the connection. Since my living is the farthest from the router I had the worse connection there. This is no longer the case with the mesh system.Internet speed tests reflect a strong connection throughout my home. What’s new! The new 5th Gen Amazon echo dot will have eero built in. Yes, you read that right! So that means if you love having echo throughout your home you can upgrade to the 5th Gen which will provide a continuation of your mesh system. You can add as many eeros to your existing setup! That could be a lot of wifi power if you need it!

Terrible wireless speeds, even wired
24 October 2022

I decided to put the ISP modem into bridge mode and setup an Eero 6+ mesh network.I’m setup to get 600 mbps down and 10 mbps up (yeah, sucks but that’s the best in the new area).I got the entire system setup in a 2,700 sqf ranch condo with the following:- Garage: Modem, Eero router- Kitchen: Eero 6+- Sun Room (furthest from garage): Eero 6+I originally setup the extenders wireless and got 140-260 mbps sustained. I then setup the Sun Room via MoCA and Ethernet from laptop 550+ mbps easy. Plug that same wire into Eero 6+, 247 mbps wireless.Added another MoCA Ethernet to Main Bedroom and setup another Eero 6+, 260 mbps.Added another to guest bedroom, MoCA to yet another Eero 6+ 280 mbps.So to recap: out of 5 Eero 6+ devices, 5 are hardwired with tested ... MoreI decided to put the ISP modem into bridge mode and setup an Eero 6+ mesh network.I’m setup to get 600 mbps down and 10 mbps up (yeah, sucks but that’s the best in the new area).I got the entire system setup in a 2,700 sqf ranch condo with the following:- Garage: Modem, Eero router- Kitchen: Eero 6+- Sun Room (furthest from garage): Eero 6+I originally setup the extenders wireless and got 140-260 mbps sustained. eero - 6+ AX3000 Dual-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 6 system
6 October 2022

Pros - Easy to setup and connect these to an existing network/modem. Follow the steps and you will be up and running in minutes without fail. App walks you through step by step.I opened the box, pulled out all 3 eeros. I then proceeded to plug in the first one and allowed it to connect. Once it connected, I switched my lighting hub to use this device which took about 2 minutes to be added. I then proceeded to adding the next one and set it up. Then I proceeded to do the next one and got it up and running. I did have to connect existing devices to the new "network" SSID since it didn't transition the password from the old one with the same name. No issue doing this process, just connect devices to the new network, even if using the same name (iphones, ipads, tvs, ... MorePros - Easy to setup and connect these to an existing network/modem. No issue doing this process, just connect devices to the new network, even if using the same name (iphones, ipads, tvs, streaming devices) and type the password. Devices are very quick to connect to the new network in about half the time it took with the older devices.Build quality and size of these devices make them ideal for placing around the house. We have about 2000 sq ft house upstairs plus a basement. I placed one next to the modem, another one at the opposite end of the house and another in the front part of the house. I am able to connect devices outside on the pool deck without fail. Speeds for all devices is very fast. I noticed that the streaming devices aren't buffering like they were on the older network "extenders".These can also use the new Echo devices which have eero built in to extend your wifi to various areas of a large house.Very clean and small devices are very easy to hide behind objects on a shelf or in a room without anyone knowing they exist.
