Initially I was skeptical about the cost of this mesh router BUT so glad I got it! I have many smart devices and they can only work as well as the WiFi signal strength. I recently upgraded to the 2nd Generation EERO mesh network and when I did, I decided to hard wire them and they are even better when you do this. The mesh network without the hardwire is ok. I have 3300 sqft to cover and these do a pretty good job. I have about 900Mbps on the wire and get around 550Mbps wirelessly. I had to upgrade to these as the previous generation was not compatible with the higher speeds.The EERO app is pretty good as it allows you to see what devices are on the network and gives the option to "pause" each device or even block from your network. Once you figure out what is what, you can name each device, assign them a profile and set schedules. I find this option especially handy as I can set schedules to pause my kids' devices at night. Now I am investigating with the techs on what to do and the recommendation is to put an outdoor antenna-router that will cost me another 100 bucks. with the NortonCore even thought it was only one single router, I had my video wireless cameras in the property up to 75 feet away from the home and working fine.the reason for the 3 stars, is one minus because of the app functionality, but 2 stars less and possibly 3 because of the poor coverage outside the walls.So in conclusion, if you want internet for inside your walls and do not need a fancy family internet control app, this is a great product; for anything else, might be better options out there.

My need for fast internet at all corners of the house had me buy and compare the 2 mesh systems that received the most favorable user reviews - Google Nest WiFi and Eero Pro 3 Pack.The Google Nest WiFi test results and my thoughts on set up and user experience…I had the Nest setup for 3 days and setup through the Google Home app was simple, yet I was not a big fan of the user interface with the Google Home app. I would appreciate a stand-alone app for the Nest WiFi system to more easily track system performance, settings, and device management. That being said I’ll share the most important information - performance. My incoming speeds to the main router were around 700 Mbps down and 18 up on average. I set the main router in the first floor family room on the cabinet below the wall-mounted TV (slightly off center for the house layout), one point router in my upstairs office (almost directly above the main router), and the other point router in the bonus room (down the hall above the garage). Speeds - Family room 5’ from main router (575 Mbps down 16 Mbps up), Master bedroom far corner of the house upstairs (475 Mbps down 15 Mbps up), Office upstairs slightly off middle of the house (334 Mbps 14 Mbps up), Bedroom upstairs on the other side of middle of the house (232 Mbps down 14 Mbps up), Bonus room above garage at the far end of the house (125 Mbps down 14 Mbps up), Garage (119 Mbps down 14 Mbps up). That was all good performance relative to the poor speeds I was getting at the far corners of the house from the X4S.The Eero Pro 3 Pack test results and my thoughts on set up and user experience…I’ve had the Eero Pro 3 pack set up for 2 days and am returning the Google Nest WiFi. Eero setup is a snap through the app and was done in 10 minutes. The app is straightforward and slick and you can easily see all of the devices connected to each pro router. I set up all of my Eero pros is the same spots I set up the Nest main and point routers. I like that you can easily turn off the LED lights on the routers so they are even more incognito. As with the Nest, my incoming speeds to the main router were around 700 Mbps down and 18 up on average. Now for the important part… Speeds -Family room 5’ from main router (601 Mbps down 18 Mbps up), Master bedroom far corner of the house upstairs (595 Mbps down 18 Mbps up), Office upstairs slightly off middle of the house (498 Mbps 17 Mbps up), Bedroom upstairs on the other side of middle of the house (378 Mbps down 17 Mbps up), Bonus room above garage at the far end of the house (334 Mbps down 16 Mbps up), Garage (278 Mbps down 16 Mbps up). I love the aesthetics of the Eero Pro routers and the Nest are also nice. I chose to keep the Eero Pro 3 Pack and return the Nest WiFi because of the performance and ease of use of the Eero app. I know the system is more expensive, but for me the difference is worth it to get consistent speeds at points farthest from the modem.One other note. If you have any devices that can only connect to 2.4 ghz… I suggest renaming your current router SSID and setting the password to whatever you want to use for the Eero or Nest and connecting those to your 2.4 ghz band before setting up your new mesh system. That’s what I had to do for my garage door opener with MyQ and my LG washing machine and dryer. They are successfully connected to my Eero network now. Hope this review helps.

We were getting 0-5 Mbps in our master bedroom (sits above the garage) and only 20-40 Mbps outside to our video cameras (furthest west of our router). It was time for an upgrade, plus Comcast had recently upgraded their Blast service from 150/10 Mbps to 200/10 Mbps.Before shopping for a new router, like you, I scanned hundreds of review websites trying to narrow down my search. Based on my personal research I narrowed down my choices to either the Netgear Orbi AC3000 or the Eero Pro Wi-Fi mesh systems. I also ran comprehensive speed tests using Ookla ( a third party speed test website). I didn’t want to use Comcast’s or the router’s software thinking it may be skewed. Without boring everyone with my total comprehensive list I will summarize the areas that were doing poorly, namely master bedroom, sunroom, front of my home and garage. It should be noted that I tested each area several times at various times of the day (morning, noon and night). The devices used were an iPhone Xr and a newer HP Surface Pro Laptop computer.In my initial speed tests with the Netgear AC1750 router I was getting the following averaged results: Office directly wired to the HP Computer: (147/11.9 Mbps), Office using Wi-Fi: (90.9/11.7 Mbps), Master Bedroom Wi-Fi: (4.3/1.6 Mbps), Sunroom Wi-Fi: (14.8/11.9 Mbps), Front of home Wi-Fi: (12.9/3.6 Mbps), and center of Garage Wi-Fi (9.0/6.6 Mbps). To note I wasn’t getting any Wi-Fi at the furthest points of my property line.I was recently fortunate to purchase both the Eero Pro 3 pack from Best Buy on sale (100 dollars off) and the Netgear Orbi AC3000 3-pack from Costco on sale (80 dollars off). Overall, the Eero was a little more expensive even with the sale. I set-up both systems separately and gave each 3 days to adapt to my home and ran the same tests in the same locations at various times of the day. The main router went in the office wired to the modem, one satellite in the family room (located between my garage and sunroom), and the third satellite in my son’s bedroom on the second floor in the center of the home. Furthest points of my property line Wi-Fi: 38.4/11.5 Mbps). I had an issue on two occasions while using the Orbi over three days where my Wi-Fi signal disconnected for no apparent reason. I had to turn the Wi-Fi off and then back on for my iPad and then it reconnected. I also had disconnecting issues with my Samsung television Q65, which I purchased last year. I thought that was odd. Also, although my Wi-Fi speeds and range increased significantly, I thought they would be better, considering the Orbi 3-pack is said to cover 7,500 square feet. I took a detailed look into the Orbi App to see how and where my devices were connecting. This showed that my devices were not connecting to the closest Orbi hub and seemed to always want to connect to the main router/hub in the office. I tried numerous times turning the Wi-Fi off and on in my device settings, but the device would always re-connect to the office even if I was a few feet from one of the satellites. Then, when I would go upstairs close to the bedroom satellite, the devices would want to connect to the family room. It didn’t make any sense. I thought that maybe the three Orbi’s were too much and causing interference, so I disconnected the one in the family room, but was still having issues with my devices not connecting to the closest Orbi. I was very disappointed with that fact. The Orbi did do a good job of deciding when and when not to use the 5 GHz versus the 2.4 GHz radio bands.Eero Pro (AC2200 3-pack): ): Set-up time about 20 minutes, which included the firmware update. In checking my connected devices using the Eero App I found that the Eero system was doing a great job of detecting the closest router/satellite and connecting to it. When moving from location to location throughout my home and outside I found that my devices would accurately and efficiently connect to the closest router/satellite within a few seconds of realizing there was a better signal; and like the Orbi, I found that the Eero Pro did a good job deciding of when and when not to use the 5 Ghz versus the 2.4 Ghz radio bands.A couple of things to note, I found that each of the Eero Pros felt very warm to the touch whereas the Orbi units felt cool over prolonged use. I was initially concerned, but after researching a little online I found that the Eero is using a heat sink mounted to the top of each hub to draw heat away and keeping the processor cool versus the Orbi which has vents in its large plastic housing. Also, the Orbi units are very large and stuck out like sore thumbs in my family room and son’s bedroom. I could care less about the office because I had a huge router there before and it is on the corner of our desk out of the way. Some people do not care about the aesthetics, but I wanted to be clear that the Orbi’s are huge. The Eeros are smaller and for me they were easier to blend into our living areas.In summary and based on my personal testing and results, I am returning the Netgear Orbi and keeping the Eero Pro as I experienced it being more consistent and doing a better job of connecting to the closest Eero hub. This would most likely account for why I was getting better speeds and distance with the Eero Pro system. I also liked the functionality of the Eero App a little better as compared to the Orbi App. I did not use the Orbi's web interface, so I cannot comment on it.
Works great! I wanted something that was affordable in a mesh router system. I have a 2000 plus sq ft octagon shaped home with lots of weird internal walls and 3 floors. I was using one wireless router previously that only provided about 2-10 mbps down to an office area. The internet connection I pay for is advertised as 50 mbps down. I chose this particular product because it has a dedicated band for talking to each other AND each unit has an ethernet connection available. Set up was easy with my mobile phone. My down speeds went to around 58 mbps after installing all 3 units. In my office, it didn't seem to make much difference if my computer was plugged in directly to the ethernet jack or just communicated wirelessly. However, my smart TV had some trouble keeping ... Regardless, I then just put the upstairs eero nearby the TV, and plugged the TV into the eero with the ethernet jack. Bingo, works like a charm. While this system was more expensive because of the ethernet, I feel it was great insurance for problem devices. I highly recommend this older, but more affordable system. The newest systems from Eero have more up to date tech (WiFi 6), but I didn't need that yet, and didn't want to pay a premium for it. I think my wife likes the units because there are no visible antenna, and they seem to work equally well under things like chairs, or behind cabinets, to hide them. Having 3 units probably makes all the difference. I might consider upgrading my internet speed now.

I’m not a savage lol)-if you are going wireless mesh you will be losing 1 5ghz channel backhaul ( Not to big of a problem unless you have a ton of devices)-Don’t reboot just one device, reboot the whole network else all your smart devices tend to lock onto one AP-Eero secure features are pretty nice it’s 23 bucks a year which isnt bad... you can probably get away with setting up a pi-hole to help stop ads in its place. I went ahead and stuck with their base subscription-Eero secure+ is also not a bad deal at 100 bucks a year, the only reason I haven’t purchased it yet is that I’m not a supporter of the VPN partner of theirs, so if that changes to a better company then I’m on board. (Read that privacy policy!)Performance wise I really didn’t think anything could stomp out this Asus router but enough was enough. I’ve had ZERO issues with ZERO EERO‘S (I’m Numbah one rapper now you see) Until Asus can step up their support of their own devices via firmware and mesh, Eero has my money for the time being.

Eero says that I can call their support and they can reach into my Eero device at home and temporarily force 2.4GHz connections long enough to let my device(s) join. This raises questions: Why do they have access to my device at home? Why do I have to play games with them to simply get a device to join my network? Why don't they fix their code so this is no longer a problem?Third, any time that I've opened a support case with Eero, they are slow to respond and end up telling me that there's something wrong with my device and to call the manufacturer. These are the same devices that work fine on any other network. They also told me to join their forum to work through these issues with other users. Was that a joke? I'm not responsible for making their product better. This is a free market economy, and I can just take my money elsewhere.I've had the Eero Pro 3 pack for 6 months and am quite unhappy. I am now considering the $500 spent as a lost investment and am looking for something better. Please take my advice and look for a better network technology.
