I picked this as a 15 year gift option from my anniversary at my job. I love this bike so much- I went from casual rides in the neighborhood to now up to 41 miles of bike trails. It is comfortable, cutest bike I've ever seen on the trails, but reliable. I've been riding (addicted) for five years now, and never a problem like I used to have with other bikes, like flats, chains coming off etc. NEVER a problem. This bike has become something I simply love! I get compliments every time I'm out on this bike. How can one go on long distances with a cruiser? Simple. Once you get on this bike, you never want to stop.

Just started to ride a bike after a looong break. Got back in the saddle, and like they say, it was natural. After about 30 seconds of beginner's wobble I had a nice two hour ride. Felt happy and free on this easy to control bike with smooth gear changes and easy braking..Threaded my way past various people and obstacles on a long bike trail with ease.Bike handled any change in terrain with no stress on me..Really felt like gliding. Pretty fast bike for the style, and easy-going when you want.Already planning the next trip.I fit this bike into the back of my '06 Jeep Cherokee, with the seats down.Had no problem lifting it or getting it in. It's not a featherweight, but it's surprisingly light.(I'm a 67 YO, F)

We’re happy. This seat was a dream, the gears perfect, and the ride was like butter. I’m excited for a trail ride- our bike doc said this was perfect for the ones I intended it for.Only downside: I am worried about storage and theft! Definitely want to protect my new baby.

Be "At One" with your Electra Townie 7D
7 April 2023

At the time of buying this bike and writing this review, I am a gal who is almost 65 but have always been a bike rider and own multiple bikes. The Townie had not been something that interested me although I see lots of folks riding them in my beach oriented area. Something sparked my curiosity and because I had member reward $$, I decided to purchase one after test riding. I can honestly say that the bike has really surprised me. It is just simple, relaxed and comfortable. You really feel like you are "at one" with the bike rather than riding "on top" of the bike. The foot forward geometry and the handlebars just all work to create a very comfortable and nimble feel. The 7 gears are easy to use and enough for anything this type of bike should tackle. The 26 inch wheels and wider tires just help to make the bike feel secure and smooth. The wide seat (which is something I usually do NOT prefer), is actually quite comfortable. I have had the bike out on a 15 mile rail trail, (asphalt and packed stone) and really enjoyed it. It is now my bike of choice for our local neighborhood nightly ride. Because of the geometry, it is not a good hill climbing bike, but certainly ok for the occasional hill on a ride. So, all in all, the Electra Townie is a very simple, enjoyable bike to ride and definitely something to especially recommend to someone getting back in to bike riding after a long hiatus. Bonus...super fun colors!!!

Great bike to see the sights!
27 June 2022

This is a great bike for someone who just wants to ride and casually take in the sights. Just wish the whole picking up the bike was as easy. First it arrived in the wrong color from what I ordered ( not the stores fault) but when I picked up the correct one my emails told me I could have help setting it up for me and adding anything I purchased onto it. I know they are swamped with the anniversary sale but no one told me all of those things or apologized that they were too busy. I know I am being nitpicking but to me this is a big purchase. Not like the expert help I had when shopping for it.

Love riding this bike
14 July 2019

I used to ride a mountain bike but got to the point (age) where riding hunched over handle bars lost its appeal. After some online research I decided to test ride an Electra Townie 7D and am so glad I did!I just LOVE riding this. It's comfortable (most important), easy to ride, stable, and fun. I'd planned a first ride of half an hour and a few miles, but was enjoying myself so much that I ended up riding for over an hour. And that's after not having been on a bicycle for years. And the sore butt syndrome that I got with the mountain bike and get in indoor cycling / spinning classes? Doesn't exist with my Townie. It's only been a few weeks so far, but I like being on this bike more than I ever did the mountain bike. Doesn't exist with my Townie. It's only been a few weeks so far, but I like being on this bike more than I ever did the mountain bike. The only limitation worth knowing about is that this is a bicycle meant for paved roads and trails, not off road. They told me at REI that it wouldn't hurt the bicycle if I take it on an unpaved flat grass or dirt walking trail, but it's not optimized for that. And it is indeed a bumpy, not ideal ride off road on a path with occasional rocks and tree roots. But I do very little of that kind of riding anymore, and the tradeoff is so worth it for the smooth, fun road ride.If you're looking for a bicycle to bring back the fun of road riding, the Electra Townie 7D is worth a test ride.

New Ride Fun
25 September 2021

We were looking to evaluate several different bikes at different stores for my wife, who's been riding a plain vanilla one-speed model for several years but recently had found it increasingly uncomfortable. We purchased the Electra Townie after a very helpful conversation with Sara, who patiently explained to my wife why the design features of the bike are clearly advanced from the big-box model that she's had. For one, the seat and handlebars are designed so that the rider is essentially sitting almost straight up - no more leaning forward to pedal and steer. For another, the shifter is well-positioned for ergonomic responsiveness. My wife took the floor model out for a spin and was sold within minutes. Definitely one of the better purchases we've made over the past few years, and you won't find a better price. Availability may be a challenge but Sara advised that we just ping the website a couple of times a day to watch for the color that my wife wanted, and sure enough, it popped up after a couple of weeks. Great bike! If you're a casual rider you won't find a better one!

Not Suitable for Central PA (Hilly) Terrain
2 June 2022

The bike overall is really nice and comfortable. My issue is I should not have purchased a cruiser style bike living where I do (Central PA). It is ergonomically next to impossible to stand up to pedal this bike because of the style. It is dreadful on hills, and so it wasn't a great choice on my part. Not the fault of the bicycle itself. I am writing this to help someone out who may think they want a cruiser, but live in a hilly or mountainous area.

Pink Townie
7 July 2022

Decided to get a new bicycle since I haven’t had a new one in thirty years. My husband has ridden a Townie for several years, and he highly recommends the brand. After riding one, I bought it immediately. It is very easy to handle, the gear shift is very smooth, and it is extremely comfortable. I am very happy with my purchase.
