Electronic Arts The Last of US Part II
Everything that I've done. It can't be for nothing. Five years after their dangerous journey across the post-pandemic United States, Ellie and Joel have settled down in Jackson, Wyoming. Living amongst a thriving community of survivors has allowed them peace and stability, despite the constant threat of the infected and other, more desperate survivors. When a violent event disrupts that peace, Ellie embarks on a relentless journey to carry out justice and find closure. As she hunts those responsible, one by one, she is confronted with the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of her actions.

I really enjoyed this is The last of Us. I loved the first edition of this game and I liked the second edition as well. [Potential spoilers within this review]Knowing the mixed reviews this game had before I played it may have colored my perception of it, but I still found it to be overall enjoyable with some elements holding it back.Pros:-I was a fan of the story. Even though there were some inconsistencies with certain story beats compared to the first game (like Joel's personality/habits as an example), I appreciate that this game tried to do something different and tell a different kind of story.-Although they didn't feel that varied, I appreciate that the game had more variety of enemies when compared to the first game.-The graphics were amazing and I felt more immersed in the game because of it.-The gameplay was a bit more polished compared to the first game, even if ... I was annoyed by the rewinding of time to play as a whole other character that I didn't feel much of a connection to. This made the game feel like it was outstaying its welcome.-As mentioned before, there were some inconsistencies with story beats such as Joel revealing his identity or the way the main story ended before jumping ahead in time.-Some of the open-world sections were a bit too open-world for my taste. It just felt like I was constantly scavenging and it slowed down the pace of the game.
Re-Played this last week and my god what an experience. I feel the same way thr first time I played 3 years ago. Mad, sad, happy, scared, nervous. So many emotions come out of me while playing this game.On top of the amazing captivating story experience. The gameplay is topnotch, its like if Resident Evil and Metal Gear had a baby you'd have stelth action horror game. Its so satisfying to pop up outta the shrubs and stelth kill infected or pop out the grass and snipe an unsuspecting human npc.The music and voice acting is also outstanding, gustavo santaolalla & mac quayle provide a haunting, emotional heart pumping soundtrack while ur fighting for survival or simply having a tender moment between characters.Anyway, I recommend anyone picking this game up and ... They improved a lot from "The Last of Us." Graphics are detailed and characters more lifelike. Combat is more visceral and intense. Story is great, but it may not be for everyone. The only flaw with the game is the pacing with the dual storylines. You are invested with the current storyline and then boom pause current storyline and switch characters. Sure it gives us insight on what is going on and sets up on what we can expect, but makes the game feel longer than it should.Note for anyone starting this game 1st time. The prologue I think is the longest part of the game. I clocked in almost 2hr 40mins. At least you can save anywhere where you are not in combat. Also be prepared to take some long breaks to process what just happened.
As I big fan of the first game I was hyped to see the trailer for the sequel. On launch day the game sold out so I didn't get to play it until later that week. Within a few days the game received criticism for the plot being extremely visceral and full of divisive politics. Naturally I took the criticism with a grain of salt since the top critics including IGN & Metacritic gave TLOU2 a perfect score of 10/10. Professional game critics can't be wrong? Well buy me a Crappacino. The Last of Us 2 begins with beautiful cutscene of Joel and his brother riding horseback into the wilderness. Ellie is living with Dina in the town of Jackson. Ellie is gay which is no surprise since her character is total rip-off of Ellen Page. The first 15 minutes everything is great but the ... The first 15 minutes everything is great but the bar scene is where the story takes a dive into a pool of gender-fluids. In the next cutscene we are introduced to Abby who is an overly masculine intersexed women with a vicious meanstreak that builds up to the murder of Joel. The departure of Joel was unsettling and as the game progresses the plot holes keep getting worse. For over half the game you play as Abby, a ruthless psychopath who eventually kills all the male protagonist. Yet we are lead to believe that Abby is a kindered spirit with love in her heart. Do they expect us to feel sympathy for a predator? After Tommy and Jess were killed I had enough. This game is pushing a matriarchal agenda where male characters and heterosexuals in general are demonized and shunned. What a terrible way to end a series. Naughty Dog should fire Neal Druckmann and bring back Amy Hennig who wrote a wonderful storyline for the Uncharted series. FINAL VERDICT: The jaw-dropping environments is the only aspect of this game that is worth mentioning but the motive behind TLOU2 is to generate HATE which at times can be nauseating. Overall this game is horendous. SCORE : 1/10
The gameplay is great. Graphics are great. The game length is pretty good. Here's the concern: The first game is a practical masterpiece. The second game was hugely anticipated. Unfortunately, certain decisions around this game will be a tossup with players. Whether these decisions bother you or not, it will depend on if you're willing to take the plunge on this game. I gave it a shot cause it was a few bucks brand new. And I feel like the game was polarizing to many folks because of these 'certain decisions'. But for the price, I finally had a chance to experience this game and get it finished. The best I can do is 3*. This game was absolutely INCREDIBLE! Without a doubt this is one of the best stories i have ever experienced. The story was extremely unique and thought provoking, and it made me feel the full range of emotions over the course of its runtime. In conventional narrative fiction, there are ‘good’ characters and there are ‘bad’ characters. While this structure is good at creating easy to consume stories with likeable protagonists, it is not a true reflection of reality. In real life, no one is entirely evil, and no one is entirely good. Everyone has their own motivation for why they are acting the way that they are. What i love about this game is that every character acts in a way that they think is justified. In real life, no one is entirely evil, and no one is entirely good. Everyone has their own motivation for why they are acting the way that they are. What i love about this game is that every character acts in a way that they think is justified. In doing so, conflict is created and characters in different groups all begin to hate each other. The game does a fantastic job of showing how even though we humans may split ourselves into different tribes and groups, fundamentally what we all want is the same. The game’s message is that violence is never the way to resolve conflict, as no one ever wins when violence is involved.Overall i would highly recommend you play this game. It had a profound impact on me, and it very likely will have a profound impact on you too. Don’t let the bad reviews discourage you. Allow yourself to come to your own conclusion about this incredible game.***THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF MY SPOILER REVIEW!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!***At the end of the first last of us game, Joel made an extremely difficult and consequential decision. He decided to save Ellie, and as a result prevented the creation of a vaccine and caused the deaths of millions of people around the world and possibly doomed humanity to extinction. This act was incredibly selfish and could easily be interpreted as evil. This game deals with the consequences of that decision. It explores the paths of two characters, Ellie and Abby, characters who were on different sides of Joel’s decision.Joel kills Abby’s father, who was trying to create a vaccine that would save humanity. This is something that Abby cannot forgive him for, and so she seeks revenge and murders him. From Abby’s perspective, Joel is the villain and she is entirely justified in her decision to kill him.Ellie obviously loves Joel, as he saved her life. In response to his murder, she views Abby as the villain, and seeks revenge on her and her crew. She travels to Seattle and ruthlessly murders all of Abby’s friends in her pursuit of justice. She becomes increasingly deranged throughout her campaign, and you as the player are forced to do some incredibly morally reprehensible things as her. I found this to be incredibly thought provoking, as it demonstrates how one violent act begets another, how the cycle of violence is continuous and how it is very difficult to break. For the second half of the game, you are forced to play as Abby. She realises that killing Joel hasn’t actually made her feel any better about the loss of her father. She realises that violence will not make her feel better, and she refuses to join the WLF’s attack on the seraphites. She instead decides to save the lives of two seraphite kids who have been shunned by their community. This segment of the game shows how all humans, regardless of tribe (WLF or seraphite), are fundamentally all the same. The war between the WLF and Seraphites at the end of Abby’s journey shows that no one wins in war, and everyone loses. It demonstrates that violence is never the way to resolve disputes.Right at the end of the game, when Ellie confronts Abby, she realises that killing Abby won’t bring Joel back, and that Abby’s motivations are just as valid as hers. She spares Abby, and the game ends. While i understand much of the criticism directed at this story, and i recognise that it isn’t for everyone, i had an absolutely incredible experience playing this game. At its core, the game teaches us that violence is never the correct way to handle a situation. It does this by exposing the player to some of the most horrific violence imaginable, to demonstrate the severe consequences that it can have.If you have made it this far into my review, i just want to say thank you. I don’t normally write reviews for games, but this one stuck with me for a while after i finished playing it, and i had to get this off my chest. This game absolutely deserves all of the game of the year awards it received, and is easily one of the best games ever created.
