I upgraded to this from a Gaggia Classic. Initial impression is the Elektra is in a totally different class with regards to milk steaming. I can now make lattes and cappuccinos that rival or exceed most coffee shops. It actually warms up quite fast (10-15 minutes). I easily adapted to making coffee with the spring lever and have not found it to be anymore difficult to use than my semiautomatic machine. The espresso shots are great on their own and more consistent. It is very quiet and a joy to use each morning. I have used it for 3-4 drinks over 1-1.5 hours and found it to not overheat. It is certainly not as well suited for serving a large number of guests. I love the beauty of this high quality espresso machine. Praise for idrinkcoffee as well. Elektra is a much bettter machine than La Pavoni, (I own both) Elektra is well built, sturdy and very efficient especially for cappucinos, which the La Pavoni struggles with at times. Wonderful feeling to pull a shot with Elektra ! Work of art. Love this machine. Simple & yet so perfect.

Exquisite Coffee Machine
11 July 2023

Exquisite. I bought the Elektra Micro Casa A Leva coffee machine for my husband in December 2021 ( peak pandemic gift). We've been using it every day since (currently July 2023) and it's remarkable. Our coffee standards have increased significantly. Plus, it's absolutely gorgeous and has increased our street cred with our neighbours and guests.

This machine is an absolute work of art, and makes the most incredible lattes—far, far superior to the several Jura machines we’ve owned in the past. We had some questions before we bit the bullet and the gentleman who answered the phone at 1st In Coffee was very knowledgeable and helpful, and the machine arrived less than 24 hours after we placed our order! We couldn’t be happier and would highly recommend this espresso machine to anyone contemplating purchasing it.

Beautiful appearance, better than the online pictures. Everything seems to be extremely high quality, with the exception of the scoop/tamper which are light plastic. The size of the portafilter means that other metal tampers that we own don't fit, so we have to use the plastic one. The filters themselves feel a bit lighter/more "tinny" than other ones we use (Breville) but again due to custom size, that's all that fits. That all sounds nitpicky, and really those are minor concerns. We've only done one test run of coffee, and the operation went very well. We've been waiting to hear back about a Prop 65 Warning about lead exposure that was listed in the manual. Depending on what parts are involved, it might be an issue. If possible I'll update when I get a response ... MoreBeautiful appearance, better than the online pictures. I am absolutely LOVING this machine. I have a Cimbali Jr. (10 years) and use it for big gatherings. But since the kids are grown and gone and I am the only one drinking coffee, I wanted something that heats up quickly, quietly and with an easy cleanup..and of course great espresso. After reading and studying for about a year, I settled on the Elektra-it is not only GORGEOUS but truly old school. Still looking for the perfect crema but am getting close-and having fun trying. Love the fact it is handmade in Italy. Seriously, I am so excited. And cleanup? There basically isn't any-not compared to the Cimbali Jr. :) And you guys got it to me in literally three days-nothing better than that. :) And I really appreciate the folks at 1stinCoffee giving me there 2 cents when ... MoreI am absolutely LOVING this machine. Outstanding Machine (But Takes Practice)

This is my first manual espresso machine after starting with a cheap full auto and later upgrading to a semi-auto BES870XL. I love the sheer amount of control that I have over my shots, from the pressure the machine brews at to the amount of water that goes into the shot (more so with a double), pre-infusion time, and flow of the steam coming out of the wand. It takes a lot of time getting dialed in right to produce a good shot, and I am still working on my technique, though it has improved greatly in the past few weeks that I've had this machine.Out of the box:I'll start with the most disappointing thing for anyone who reads this: The tamper this machine comes with is a cheap, flimsy, plastic 48mm disc that doesn't even cover the surface area of your 49mm ... MoreThis is my first manual espresso machine after starting with a cheap full auto and later upgrading to a semi-auto BES870XL. It takes a lot of time getting dialed in right to produce a good shot, and I am still working on my technique, though it has improved greatly in the past few weeks that I've had this machine.Out of the box:I'll start with the most disappointing thing for anyone who reads this: The tamper this machine comes with is a cheap, flimsy, plastic 48mm disc that doesn't even cover the surface area of your 49mm portafilter. If you don't have one already, save yourself the extra wait and get yourself a nice, heavy 49mm tamper when you buy this (I got a solid stainless tamper by Silmur and it's perfect) and throw the plastic one into the trash upon arrival. Now for the good: Everything was well-packaged in molded styrofoam to minimize the chance of impact damage. Everything came out looking shiny and beautiful with no damage. Assembly was pretty straightforward, and the owner's manual gives you just enough information to get started. Disclaimer: the manual does not tell the user how to adjust the pressurestat if you find that your machine is not in the right zone out of the box, or if you really want to fine-tune your extraction. But fear not: simple but tedious pressurestat adjustments are a quick Google/YouTube search away (butter knife and small ratchet with phillips and flat head bits to get the job done not included).Brewing with this bad boy requires a ton of patience. If you're new to manuals, do not expect to pull amazing shots right away. Even semi-autos have their nuances, though not nearly as many. First, make sure that you can see the meniscus (that bottom line at the top of your water) in the sight glass. This will ensure that your boiler is neither under nor overfilled. It doesn't take long to heat up and get to pressure. Once it's ready to go, the rest is up to you (take lots of notes; it helps!). After a few weeks of active use, I've just about gotten it down (until I get different beans, that is). The steam wand is another well-designed piece of this machine, and produces the silkiest microfoam I have ever made. You control the output, and it is immediate steam on demand. Do let some out to get the wand up to temp and avoid it shooting straight hot water into your pitcher before frothing it up. Back to brewing: It does seem to run a bit hot, and I've read that the general consensus is that the ideal brewing temperature is right when it gets up to pressure, and then after that the user should to apply a cold cloth to the groupset to keep temperatures down and avoid burnt shots. I'll start following that advice and see how my extraction improves.I've been having a ton of fun with this machine, and don't think I could ever go back to anything short of a manual espresso machine after this experience. It's definitely one of my favorite additions to my coffee-making collection, and I'll probably love it even more when I finally do pull that perfect shot.

really love the machine. Gorgeous, makes a delicious, creamy espresso. Really isn't hard to figure out how to use.One note is that the portafilter is stated as 49mm, but is actually ~49.5mm, so swapping out portafilter parts is a bit trickier than more common sizes. Despite this, I was able to find a perfectly fitted dosing funnel, tamper, and leveler though, so not a deal breaker at all. There are some companies in the US/Europe that make these specific accessories for the Elektra portafilter basket and have good shipping options to Canada.Overall, I'm very happy I went with this machine.
