I'm 76 and have been playing since I was 12. Having spent a fortune on my very delicately strutted wonderfull Froggy Bottom H12 Limited I happily followed their string-make advice for 6 years. But recently I needed a much "brighter" tone for a particular project. Elixir give me that. But other reviews warned me I'd suffer broken strings, so I ordered spares of the 3 lighter strings. No need! The first set went on normaally and are still on without breakages. As the H12 is small and has quite narrow slots, re-stringing is not the easiest of tasks for an "oldie". So long-lasting strings are a bonus. PERSONAL TIP to avoid possible string breakages - don't fit the strings the moment they arrive in the post, especially in winter. They feel good, they sound good, and last a long time. My only sort of complaint is that they do brighten up my tone a bit compared to the phosphor bronze daddarios I was using previously. This may or may not be a good thing for you depending on your particular tastes and particular guitar. If youre playing a smaller bodied guitar thats maybe already a bit bright as it is, these strings will bring out that brightness even more. I'm a Martin guy and I like having a good low end that stands out. But its nothing super extreme to make me dislike the strings. I still think they still sound great. But figured it's just something worth noting. They last a long time. Overall great strings.

I’ve been using these strings on all of my acoustic guitars for over a decade. Wouldn’t think of using anything else. They are double the cost of name brand regular strings but last 10 times longer. They have a ‘broken in’ sound out of the package and retain that same tone for months and months of daily playing. Give em a go- you be the judge. Elixir poly webs are the best. Period.

I have used Elixir strings exclusively for the last 2 decades. They last for a very, very long time without losing tone. The strings don't corrode - except when I may eventually wear through the plating on the plain strings due to heavy use of vibrato and bending techniques. It is great that I can also buy individual strings for when I want to replace plain strings due to wear or to customise gauges within a set. They are more expensive than uncoated strings but last so long it is more than worth it financially for their longevity and great if you don't like the bother of changing strings (who does ? - I usually manage to stab my fingers at least once ! ).They are super for sliding without grating your fingertips. Great for Small Bodies
7 September 2021

I have an older small-body acoustic and got these extra-lights to see how they'd do. The literature said the Polyweb sounded a bit warmer and felt "slicker" to play than the Nanowebs so opted for that coating this time. They have accomplished exactly what I wanted. They have plenty of volume in a small-body, are a delight to play, and the guitar is more responsive than before. I have a similarly made deadnought that I put 11's in 80/20 Nanoweb on, and those are perfect for that guitar. They are a different sound. I also have a high-end dread that I put Nanoweb 11's on in Phosphor bronze and they're great for that one. So all three types for three different guitars and all worked perfectly.

Great sound!
3 February 2022

I have bought Elixir strings many times before, but usually in a lighter gauge. Lighter ones were not available this time, so I gave the 12-53's a try. They were easier to put on and sound great- maybe louder than the others (10-47's) I used before. Not as flexible for bending notes, but they feel really solid, and the extra volume is good since I mostly don't use a pick, and don't strum very agressively. I will buy these again, and highly recommend them.

I would not buy Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings
3 July 2017

I would not buy this particular version of Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053) for my Guild F47rc with D-tar again. They were far to dark and Bass like for me to enjoy. The (E,A and D) strings tend to be jangly and buzzed against the lower 7 frets. I will try other versions of Elixir guitar strings as soon as I can figure out which version would be good for a Solid wood guitar with rosewood back and sides and an Adirondack (Red) spruce top and a Rainsong WS1000n2. both 25 1/2" scale lengths. Neither Rainsong or Guild USA had any valuable Information to share except to say they use other Brands of Guitar String Manufactures. In support of Elixir for feel, Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB feel ... MoreI would not buy this particular version of Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053) for my Guild F47rc with D-tar again. Also I checked the weight of this Light (.012-.053) set and found them to compare in overall tension to 11's or (.011-.047) of other brands

Love my new Elixir Polyweb strings!
26 July 2021

I had changed the strings on my Taylor in March, 2020 and was way past due for a new set. I play at least once or twice a week and my old strings were looking very worn. I started looking for new strings in the fall, but was told that the polywebs were out of stock due to the pandemic. I could have tried a different brand, but decided to wait for the polywebs. When the strings finally came back in stock in July, 2021 I ordered two sets and received the strings a few days later. I changed my strings immediately and my guitar looks and sounds great! I will definitely keep extra sets on hand from now on!

The BEST strings you will ever use!
25 June 2019

I only have pros, no cons!!! I love Elixir strings!!! I've been using them for years!!! I first heard about them from a good friend of mine, Tom Hemby. He is a 30+ year session player and producer in Nashville Tennessee. I'm not a pro like him, just a weekend warrior, but honestly these strings have been a Godsend for me!!! I HATE to change strings!!! I'm using the word about strings!!! Anyway, I love the sound of NEW strings but hate to have to stop and change them all the time! My hands sweat profusely so I always have dead strings. Tom told me that if I started using Elixir strings that problem would no longer be an issue and he was right! I use the Extra Lights .010 -.047 Nanoweb set on my Blueridge BR-163 CE. One of the things I didn't realize was that the ... MoreI only have pros, no cons!!! I love Elixir strings!!! One of the things I didn't realize was that the coating cuts down on the noise, the string squeak when I change chords or when I'm playing a lead. With un-coated strings it's very irritating! So, my strings are quieter, they last longer, they sound bright all the time!!! I'm diggin these strings! All I can say is if you aren't using them, you should be, give your audience a break from the squeak, squeak squeak, of your strings during your performances, it's very distracting from the songs and your playing ability!!! I tell everybody I know that plays or is starting to learn, just go ahead and buy yourself some GOOD strings, it's the foundation of your sound!!! NO MORE SQUEAKING AND THEY LAST A LONG LONG TIME!!! That's a winner to me!!!

The best!

I love these strings! They sound amazing on my Yamaha fgx700sc. Only thing i don't like is how quickly the coating wears off, especially if you're using a capo, & Wear the pick hits the strings. Overall they're the best sounding strings i've found just wish they were cheaper $$$
