I bought this mug for my wife Christmas 2023. She saw how much I loved the one black Ember that she gifted me back in early 2021. Strangely, the original Ember mug from 2021 has a longer battery life than the new model rose gold Ember that I gifted to her. I bought a second charging base for her because of the unreliable battery length, to make sure that the coffee doesn’t go cold before she finishes it. It does a good job when working. However, charging base broke within a year (whole thing replaced in the warranty) then within 1.5 years the ceramic coating on the inside starting chipping off revealing the underlying metal. I emailed them multiple times with my concerns, that I do not want to ingest hot ceramic chips. Their response was it is still safe to use "As the ceramic coating is non-toxic and FDA approved food safe." They decline to replace as not in one year warranty, offer 20% off a mug that is near $200. Frankly, i do not want to consume ceramic chips, even if FDA safe , nor spent $150 to replace a mug that has broken twice within 1.5 years. Sadly . . . on the the competition on Amazon for 20% of the price

I've had this mug for 4 months now and it is great for brewed coffee and hot tea WHEN it decides to work. Trying to update firmware is impossible and always disconnects and stops trying to update at 50% even if the mug is at 100% and even after all the suggested troubleshooting. The battery life is horrific and takes forever to charge so it almost permanently lives on it's charging station. Sometimes it takes 10 minutes or more just get it to stay paired to my phone which is either an app issued or a mug issue as it is the only Bluetooth product I have this issue with. It is supposed to remember your preferred temp, but only does that about 1/3 of the time. There have been times off the charging station that even when paired and with the heater on and a 75%+ ... This is a nice mug, and it really does keep your coffee warm for an hour or two, but it is needlessly complicated and way overpriced. I am a real coffee geek and you don't need 40 different settings, especially when they only vary by a few degrees. You will pick one temperature and stay there because it makes absolutely no sense to change the temperature one degree because you switched from coffee to cappuccino. This is just an unnecessary feature to justify the sky high price, and you will never use it. And do you really need to keep fine tuning and adjusting temperature from your phone? Why would anyone want to do that? Coffee is something you keep near you, not in another room. Why have remote control?
My microwave broke & I needed something to warm water for my pets. It had a lot of marketing promises so here's why I would not recommend... 1) Right out of the box, you have to charge it for 3 hours. 3 hours?! That's a long time, but I thought this mug better be awesome so charge away...for the money you pay, it should work right out of the box! 2) The instruction guide sucks, it seems simple but pressing those options on the mug do not get you the desired result! Unless you use the app, the mug doesn't warm the water properly. 3) I had zero space on my phone for apps so I had to use it without one. Using without the app should have been super easy, but wasn't. You just press the the mug "on" & wait for it to warm....& u wait & wait..& wait...forever. Too long in ... Thus this overpriced mug is not worth it for anyone who doesn't have app space or doesn't fell like going thru 3 charging after each use. There's better options out there...I found a mug warmer on Amazon for $20 with digital temp control (no app needed!) & that's all I wanted in the first place! Don't buy this one, not worth the funds.
