Good rapid charger

First a little expansion on what is meant by 'rapid charger'. This device charges 2 or 4 cells rather more quickly than some chargers of days gone bye. If you prefer not to wait a day to charge high capacity cells but can happily wait a few hours, this is the device for you. It does exactly what it claims, charges an exhausted 2500mAhr cell-pair in 4 or 5 hours, uses end of charge detection and switches off the charging current when complete. My experience is that charging 4 cells takes about the same time as charging 2, but I was not watching closely. Cells are charged in pairs, so you have to fit 2 or 4 cells. There are three indicators on the front which indicate approximately how far the charging has to go, and some clever electronics that checks for problem ... MoreFirst a little expansion on what is meant by 'rapid charger'. For the price it is excellent value and my device came with a set a four 2000mAhr Energizer NiMHs. The less-good parts: If you have toys or other devices which use single or an odd number of cells you will need to put some thought into charging. If you obtain two sets of batteries this should do the trick because it is then possible to have a supply of ready-charged batteries. Also, if your batteries have been over-discharged for any reason the battery condition sensor may refuse to charge the cells. Whilst this is a nuisance it is also the safer approach, and if you have an older type trickle charger (which could take a day to complete a charge) you can use that to see if the cells are recoverable - (correctly) dispose of the cells if half an hour on a slow charger does not produce some result. I am pleased with this purchase.

Charges quickly, and the three coloured lights are really useful for spotting dud or partially discharged cells. My old Varta charger takes forever to charge, and when its light goes out the cells are still not fully charged. The Energiser charger went to the amber light on being given "fully charged" cells from the Varta charger and continued to charge them successfully. Very happy with it.

I thought I would leave it a while before leaving a review to see how they truly perform and over the year I've had 3 of these stop working 1 within a couple of months and yes, I'm using them strictly by the rules. My autistic son has a lot of battery operated lights and so thought it would save me some money and help towards all the waste of regular batteries but no.The AAA's are so difficult to remove and I've waved bye bye to every long nail I had plus the batteries start to discharge the moment they're removed from the charger so you can't charge and store them as they'll almost certainly be half drained when you want them, the battery casing starts to come away from the batteries too very quickly and the battery life with us charging every 3 days they don't ... MoreI thought I would leave it a while before leaving a review to see how they truly perform and over the year I've had 3 of these stop working 1 within a couple of months and yes, I'm using them strictly by the rules. My autistic son has a lot of battery operated lights and so thought it would save me some money and help towards all the waste of regular batteries but no.The AAA's are so difficult to remove and I've waved bye bye to every long nail I had plus the batteries start to discharge the moment they're removed from the charger so you can't charge and store them as they'll almost certainly be half drained when you want them, the battery casing starts to come away from the batteries too very quickly and the battery life with us charging every 3 days they don't last, after about two weeks batteries start to show up faulty on the charger with a warning. I spent a fortune on three of these and 10/15 packs of 2300MAH batteries and about 10 packs of AAA's and most of them failed too quickly for my liking. A very expensive lesson learned!

No more remote control troubles...
23 June 2021

Our house is full of gadgets, and these days they all have remotes - so that it looks to a casual observer as if the darn things have been breeding! The trouble is some of them seem to eat batteries - with working from home the wireless keyboard for example. So when I was offered a set of batteries and a charger to review I jumped at the chance.for example. The charger has some really nice features which more than justify the price. No more guesswork as to whether the batteries are charged - the three colour indicator tell you when they are done! The four AA batteries supplied have a healthy 2200ma capacity - and the charger can also take AAA batteries which can be bought separately. The charger recharged the four batteries in just over 2 hours. TLDR: If you want a quality set of rechargeable NIMH batteries and a great charger you cant go wrong with these.

Very good AA/AAA battery charger.
30 April 2023

I only use rechargeable batteries these days & recently I changed all my rechargeables to Energizer. I also purchased an Energizer charger (this one). This charges batteries just fine & theres no leads to plug in, the whole charger just plugs in & takes up no room at all. My only issue is it only charges in batches of two. You can charge two or four batteries at a time. Not much of an issue I hear you say but my torch which I use every night while walking my dog takes three AAA batteries. This isnt affecting the rating Im giving as it does the job well but its just a niggly issue. All in all I can recommend this excellent charger & Im very pleased .
