Engel Combi Portable Fridge and Freezer MT-V45FC

The look of delight on my kid's face when I pulled an icecream out of the freezer section made buying this worth it. It's larger than I expected - I have to take out the luggage cover from my VW golf wagon to fit it in. Over 16 hours, approximately half-full of stuff, it consumed about 70% of a 50AH LiFePO4 battery when set to its coldest setting (-18C). When unpowered and mostly empty, the air inside it heats up faster than if it's full. Whilst the air inside may be warm, the items inside don't heat up nearly as quickly, and items can remain frozen for quite some time despite the thermometer reading above zero temperatures. I used this with the Engel Fridge Transit Cover Bag, which made a small but noticeable difference to both temperature and noise insulation, and provides pockets to store fridge-related things like power cords, etc. 10/10 would buy again.

I purchased the Engel for two reasons.1. My previous Waco had stopped operating properly after about 6 years of ownership and I hope that the Engel proves to be a more reliable unit.2. I wanted one that operates as both a fridge and a freezer at the same time. The Engel Combi has a good independent review on the internet suggesting that it works well as both.I have installed the fridge in my camper truck but have yet to use it. I intend to go on a three week trip commencing tomorrow and I hope that I will be very happy with it.

We bought the Engel from BCF based on being a membership and competitive price. Very happy with the entire purchase through to delivery experience of the Engel. We are replacing an Engel that we had for 40 years and very happy with the brand.
